    I have these exact speakers for my front stage plus other kefs for my surrounds and atmos. They sound phenomenal. Topped off with 77 LGGX

      I'm considering replacing my R500 and R200c with these and wondered if you had any knowledge of how they compare?

    I dont understand why you wouldn't hide that speaker wire in the wall. You already cut a hole out for the speaker. All you have to do is take that wood trim off bottom drill a hole fish it to speaker put trim back up.

      because its more work then I want to do when my wire runs back to my AV Rack more then 20 feet

    It looks like you need to have insulation behind the speaker. Since it's pretty tight in there, I'm assuming the ideal method would be to have 2x6 studs for the setup. That way insulation can be installed behind the speaker. I've also seen a document about Ideal cabinet volume and it says 2.12 cubic feet is required. You would not have that. Thanks for the video.

    Great video! But here is the real question - How do they sound??? I am considering upgrading to these.

  • @darkomijic

    In-wall speakers require cabinets. KEF specified minimum and maximum volume. You cannot just plop them in an empty wall!

    • @The.Home.Cinema.Engineer
      @The.Home.Cinema.Engineer  2 года назад +1

      You can because the studs in between them would act as a cabinet of sorts , but this video is old I have a new video coming out in a new place and I built speaker cabinets for them stay tuned

    Thanks for this video. I'm installing 3 Ci3160s tomorrow and had a question. All three of mine will go really close to studs. How much room do you think is needed in between the template and the stud? I measured and it looks like I need about 3/8 of an inch between to make sure there is enough dry wall for the clamps to clamp down on.
    That made sense to me because the full external width of the speaker is close to 3/4 of an inch wider than the template. So I figure it couldn't need more than 3/8s.

      @The.Home.Cinema.Engineer  3 года назад +1

      To play it safe I’d say at least half an inch.

    Speakers look fantastic. Considering them for my theater. Wires look horrible. You should have drilled that hole just above you baseboards under the speaker and fished that wire to the back of the speaker.

    • @The.Home.Cinema.Engineer
      @The.Home.Cinema.Engineer  3 года назад

      Haha thanks! I highly recommend them. Yeah I don’t know why I didn’t think about throwing a hole on the bottom and then just running it up but I did cover it with a plastic covering and painted it the same color as the wall so it looks way better.

    Useful video thanks, may get these speakers (well 2 anyway for front left and right). Was slightly surprised you didn’t check the speaker was straight with your spirit level before you started tightening all the screws. Also are the terminals at the top of the speaker? Thanks

    I'm looking at putting these into brick wall that's been skimmed. So no plasterboard/drywall. Do you reckon these can be screwed straight into the wall..
    I'm guessing remove the screws /dog ears from behind and the screw straight through to the wall plugs in the brick...

    • @The.Home.Cinema.Engineer
      @The.Home.Cinema.Engineer  Год назад +1

      I dont see why not if you removed the Ears and the screws but I dont know how good it will sound in a brick wall.

  • @EdgeRowing

    Why didn't you have insulation on the back of the cutout? KEF's installation guide shows the whole cavity being insulated not just round the edge

    • @The.Home.Cinema.Engineer
      @The.Home.Cinema.Engineer  3 года назад

      I never saw anything about that in the insulation guide and with how much space that speaker takes up in the back there was not much room for insulation anyways.

  • @macydezort

    Good job. I'm just wondering since you cut the wall for the speakers why didn't you just run the speaker wires down from inside the wall then come out and cap it with a plate. It looks much cleaner. Then you don't have to paint anything.

    • @The.Home.Cinema.Engineer

      at the time I dint even think about other options or using the trim to hide it I just wanted it in because i was excited but I bought something to at least hide it.
      future theater will have all in wall wiring
      thanks for watching !

    I can't understand putting the speakers behind your acoustic panels. If they're acoustically transparent surely they aren't doing anything or if they are doing something surely that will affect the sound?

    • @The.Home.Cinema.Engineer
      @The.Home.Cinema.Engineer  3 года назад

      The speakers are not behind the acoustic panels they are inside the panels they are flush with the fabric so it is not affecting the sound. I have a video coming up explaining less.

      depends only if you had hard wood or tile floors which you should NOT have for a theater

      No right now I’m using 2 12” Klipsch subs. Definitely on the upgrade list is 2 15‘s or 18‘s from PSA or jtr
