The evil from the Horcrux can positively influence evil beings, as Dolores here demonstrates. She needs happiness to form a Patronus, and she literally became happy by condemning people. Hell, she would make a better Dark Lord then Voldy.
Despite being manipulative and devious, she wasn't a powerful wizard so she would purely have relied on more powerful supporters who would properly go rogue and not follow a confident but weak witch. She's evil but you can't compare her potential with Voldemort even if she became minister
She was an average witch at best who got to where she was by probably kissing ass. She showed no exceptional strength, mentally or physically. All she did was torture teenagers for her pleasure and prosecute wandless witches, since they were at her mercy. She is one of those psychopathic people who love torturing little or stray animals because they are helpless (like that dipshit Joffery from GOT). Lord Voldemort was the epitome of power and a master of the dark arts. He was an enemy one could fear or respect. Umbridge on the other hand invokes a single emotion of disgust within all. She is so worthless and so pompous. That is why we all wanna slap her to death.
This is one of those few moments where the movies did the scene better than the books. I love that Harry got his word in and Umbridge's dawning realization before he stunned her. Although I always wished she had received a worse curse. Crucio would have been satisfying.
Yeah, I have a couple of scenes in the movies that are better than the book. Specifically Sirius's and Snape's deaths. Sirius's death was so sudden that you never saw it coming when it did, whereas in the book you expect something to happen in his duel with Bellatrix. Plus, when Snape died, the sound of Nagini slamming his body against the glass with no music playing is better than being trapped in a magic sphere.
I think what I like best about this scene is when Ron steps forward and puts his hand on Mary Cattermole's arm comfortingly. He knows he needs to play the part, and to do that he has to do what he figures a good husband would do- provide a measure of comfort to his wife. It's a nice touch to the scene.
Just remember that her Patronus-fueling happy thought is sending people to their deaths! She wore a horcrux around her neck (a part of Voldemort’s soul) and she had *no* trouble making a Patronus, in the presence of Dementors! Even scarier, Umbridge was never a follower of Voldemort! She’s always been loyal to the Minister of Magic, whomever that may be - unfortunately, the current Minister of Magic is under the effect of an Imperius Curse from Voldemort, but Umbridge takes advantage of the situation. She already was an incorrigible sadist before Voldemort took over, after all…

The problem with the wizarding world is that no matter how bad you want to kill someone like Umbridge, you still have to take into account that she's just as powerful as any other wizard or witch.

The scene with the witch on trial always broke my heart, it very well could have been Hermione on trial. Trying to defend herself as a muggle born witch, Ron standing next to her holding onto her, Harry giving Umbridge the death stare because he can imagine it too.

Minhaj Nizam selwyn is another pure blood family so if she's really from that family, then yes she is pureblood. The lie was that she took a random locket and used it to boost her own pureblood credentials, this time Salazar slytherin 'S
Ameiaru According to the Wizarding World canon, Dolores was actually half-blood. Her father was a wizard but his mother a Muggle and his brother a Squib. So she definitely lied about the locket being hers and her relationship to the Selwyns...
True. The reason why everyone hates Umbridge more than any other character is because we've ALL had that school teacher who we hated. We've all had that teacher who we hated so much, even more than how much we hated the most horrible classmate.
I hate how she says you are lying when it is always behind he like harry using magic outside of school. Who was behind. It umbridge. When harry spread word about voldemort being back and he got detention for "lying" when he wasn't. And now about wands only choosing witches. Ollivander said the wand chooses you in the 1st movie so why is she lying again. Wow umbridge is one bad liar
You know, it's not really discussed but the actress who plays Mary Cattermole did such a brilliant job playing her. You can hear her suffering, and the anguished fear in her voice is so obvious and unaffected. I couldn't help but feel extreme pity for her, so much so that I basically forgot my hatred of Umbridge in that scene. For me personally, she stole the scene. Though still watching Dolores get blasted by a stunning spell did bring great satisfaction.
Like this comment if you despised Umbridge with EVERY FIBER OF YOUR VERY BEING!!!! All though, she is much, much, much, MUCH (munch munch) worse in the book than in the movie. If evil, sin and Satan had to take a physical form, she was it.
This scene is slightly chilling because if you take a second to consider the amount of concentration needed to conjure a patronus, Umbridge is very casually passing these horrible sentences while maintaining a perfect patronus. It goes to show just how powerful a witch she is

So she definitely lied about the locket being hers and her relationship to the Selwyns...
that...was incredibly satisfying.
You've got to admit Umbridge is impressively powerful or, at the very least, her patronus is.
But Harry is more powerful.
The only thing that makes Umbridge worse is that there are people in the world that are just like her.
True. The reason why everyone hates Umbridge more than any other character is because we've ALL had that school teacher who we hated. We've all had that teacher who we hated so much, even more than how much we hated the most horrible classmate.
How Hermione said insendeo so quiet and soft and then the locket started on fire!🤣😝
God I love how brilliantly jk Rowling tackled how an authoritarian government can easily become a shove with their power
I really hope the dementers got her
But Dolores has no soul to feed upon
Dolores was sent to Azkaban for crimes against Muggles.
+Richard “Firebug” Merrick Good enough for that Umbitch!
A dementer kissed her, and it died!!!!
@@leannehaddock6254 info😂😭😰😈👅😱😪😭😂😅
Dolores even got guts to claim that Salazar Slytherin's medallion was her family heirloom
that's how it was in the book.
Reginald looks just like Remus.
I know, right! I can't believe no one made that connection!
ummmm harry i think you meant to say avada kedevra
You know, it's not really discussed but the actress who plays Mary Cattermole did such a brilliant job playing her. You can hear her suffering, and the anguished fear in her voice is so obvious and unaffected. I couldn't help but feel extreme pity for her, so much so that I basically forgot my hatred of Umbridge in that scene. For me personally, she stole the scene. Though still watching Dolores get blasted by a stunning spell did bring great satisfaction.
I love how her patronus bristles and hisses when Harry starts his speech ...
This really is the best scene in all of the Harry Potter movies
Like this comment if you despised Umbridge with EVERY FIBER OF YOUR VERY BEING!!!! All though, she is much, much, much, MUCH (munch munch) worse in the book than in the movie. If evil, sin and Satan had to take a physical form, she was it.
I can't believe I was only your 2nd like in a month.
I know right
Karl I wish the centaurs killed her
I love how harry attacks her in the most savage way
Another thing that Harry took from Umbridge's office in the book that she had in her possession was Moody's magical eye...
You just know Toad Face's happy feeling/memory is something that even Voldy Wort finds reprehensible.
I don't know what's more satisfying - Harry throwing Umbridge's own line back in her face or Hermione punching Draco. Hard to decide. 😂
That one character we hate more than Voldemort
And Bellatrix.
i needed this today
The look on her face when it slowly dawns on her. God what a cathartic moment.
I shudder to think what Umbridge's "happy" memory is to create HER patronus.
b wood probably the blood quill detentions.
b wood or the time spent with her cats
Probably that one time she burned down an orphanage followed by a maternity ward
@@mrcritical6751
What do you mean she burned down an orphanage..?
This scene is slightly chilling because if you take a second to consider the amount of concentration needed to conjure a patronus, Umbridge is very casually passing these horrible sentences while maintaining a perfect patronus. It goes to show just how powerful a witch she is
Her powers were enhanced by the Horcrux.
Probably one of my favorite scenes in Harry Potter Movies and Book.
Harry still saying: "I must . not tell lies" after 2 years XD
We are *proud*
Wish it was the killing curse
What, you'd want her to get off that easy?
BigBroCohen Didn´t you listen to Dumbledore? There are so many things worse than death.
of course I know that I just can't stand Umbridge I just want her to be killed.
Notice to how her patronus hissed at Harry after he told her she was lying.
Pretty satisfying revenge scene. ALMOST as good as the centaurs carrying her away.
harry: stupefy
heromine: stop stop stop your going to take someones eye out besides its avada kedavra not stupefy
ron: *she needs to sort out her priorities*
2:34 take that you toad!
Dammit , Harry , you should have said “Avada Kedavra “ .
Actually, I would've preferred "BOMBARDA!" ;)
Harry was waiting for this moment a long time
Grate job with that part
