Love how Willem got more and more comfortable with the reception of his character over the years, even to the point of reprising it. He looked really overwhelmed here.
Yeah I wonder if this was one of those instances where actor had no idea how big and popular the movie he just acted in is going to be.
@@Commander_Shepard. He probably had no idea how beloved his performance would be, but he's stated many times how much he wanted the role and how he had to go out of his way to fight for it. So I'm sure he was still proud of it.
The reason he wasn't 100 percent on board is because he comes from a theater/ indie movie background and doing this kind of movie isn't considered to be serious work. I imagine his entire entourage gave him shit for doing the movie, cause it's a silly movie. He did it because he wanted to dabble in a large action film out of curiosity.

It's important ot remember that prior to this trilogy, super hero movies weren't exactly super big and popular like they are today
He gives that look when he says "It's true," like he doesn't think this movie is going to be good because of how ridiculous it could be at times. If you made a movie as goofy/campy as this one, it would be considered a bad movie. But after this movie, we created a genre of films that have over-the-top action and goofiness that people actually enjoy. And it wasn't just reserved for superhero films.
This is just an example of how many people loved this franchise! Even celebrities were hyped about it!

Imagine you go to that premiere not knowing who or what spiderman is. That's the best feeling of watching superhero movie, something that the later spiderman movies wouldn't have the same feel
Spider-Man is like green lantern
Spider-Man was already an established hero at that point. 40 years of comic book material. He was definitely a household name before the movie. Now he's that and more.

The fact Willem didn't know how to feel about the movie at the time and now he loved to portray green goblin again shows how much he actually loves the character
tobey looks so happy, now he's so rare to find in interviews since he hates paparazzis
I think it’s because he was quite new to all the paps and the spotlight at that time. It definitely seems like he developed hatred towards both as the years went by.

Fun fact: Hugh Jackman was meant to cameo in the movie to establish that X-Men and Spider-Man were in the same universe but he couldn't film his scene because of his busy schedule.

I remember watching this at the theaters during the premiere week. It was so packed and the seats were full so some people had to stand to watch it. This movie was so hyped at that time
Wow this jogged my memory. I think as a kid there'd be times where sessions would be sold out to the point people had to sit on the stairs.
Will smith son was so little. I am so glad i grew up watching spider-man trilogy.

and we finally got our classic Spiderman: Tobey Maguire
Keaton will return in the Flash alongside Ben Affleck

I always find it trippy when I watch old videos about stuff that like that were either before my time or when I was too young to remember anything. Like I’m a fan of this movie but the whole atmosphere of this premiere feels like a different world because I was barely turning 2 at the time lol.
