      I'm from Germany and we really like Sauerkraut. The taste of sauerkraut is coming from the fermitation but I never saw it done this way. Normally we use huge containers and some ingredients and then we leave it alone until it's ripe.
      Then you can usually eat it without having to be afraid that you'll poisoning yourself. On the other hand, we have pretty strict safety standards to make sure that no other microbial life can find a way into the product that could make people sick or even kill them.
      I understand that certain regions worldwide have special dishes that they make their own way. But at least, Europeans have very strict safety laws to make sure that people didn't get sick or even die after the consumption of said dishes. We also have food that is forbidden by law to leave the border of the country, because the other EU countries didn't see these food products as save for consumption. And the people know usually what dishes these are and wouldn't even try them if they would get it for free. All I know is that those dishes are part of their culture and that's the only reason they are still allowed in the countries they're coming from.
      There is a country in Scandinavia where they let fish (literally) rot for a few years in containers that are buried a few years to avoid that air comes in from the outside. It stinks very bad and most people say it tastes like it smells.
      A second example would be the mugged cheese from an Italian island. This cheese is full of muggeds and it is also strictly forbidden to bring it over any European border. These are just two very well known examples and you could find a lot more if you would just Google it.
      Things that are disgusting to us, can be delicious for other people who were growing up with them.
      But it's important not to cut corners, put chemicals in that didn't belong there and be as hygienic as possible if you're working with that kind of food.

    China is the leading manufacturer, user and exporter of DDT, an insecticide that was banned in most of the world in the 50's and 60's due to it's toxicity and environmental impacts. They also still manufacture and use organophosphates which were banned in much of the world in the 90's and early 2000's. Pretty much any chemical that was banned for use on crops is still permitted in China.

  • @ziongite
    @ziongite 6 дней назад +10

    Yeah umm, I am Australian and we know a lot about farming and animals and such, and I am afraid the colour of the egg yolk doesn't determine much. Free range chickens do tend to have a more orange yolk, however during different seasons their yolk also can be yellow, it just depends what they are commonly eating, it's all about simply the pigments within the food that are eaten.
    A very light weak colour is a result of primarily just eating wheat, which doesn't have much pigment in it. If the chicken eats a lot of corn the yolk will be a bright and strong yellow, and if the chicken is eating all sorts of things that are green instead, the yolks often are more orange as the green stuff usually have a lot of this pigment (if you minus off the masking green which is merely chlorophyll obviously).
    That's really all that it's about. The actual nutritional value is almost the same across all the types, the colour doesn't determine that.
    BTW I am not saying eggs from China are trustworthy, regardless of yolk colour it is likely the chickens are eating some pretty nasty stuff, especially the free range ones in China may be eating some very nasty pollutants in the environment. I remember a video in China where a chicken was eating plastic out of a shallow puddle of oil, so clearly the idea of free range isn't good if the environment is contaminated, lol.
    Quite frankly I wouldn't trust anything from China, but especially I wouldn't trust food.

    I was gonna continue on about asking where this couldve come from, but all these problems kinda lead back to Mao's "cultural revolution". For several years now I have not bought any products that were produced in China. Because the poison with which they were produced also reaches me, with the product, with the water, with the air or with contaminated earth.

      In Australia there is a law that says if human feces is detected on fruits or vegetables, it is illegal to sell it. However the level of contamination on cheap Chinese imports was so high(they use sewage as fertilizer and raw sewage dumps into the rivers that they use for irrigation), they had to do something. They no longer test for human fecal matter on fresh or frozen produce if it comes from China. Problem solved.

    The Sauerkraut thing is a bit more diverse: Yes, they could use a more hygienic environment, but the bare feet in it could be just following tradition. In Germany, we'd traditionally make Sauerkraut with bare feet, too. This technique originated in the need to squish the Sauerkraut to reduce air in it and pop some cells for it to ferment the right way. Feet were used because they would put the person's whole weight on the Sauerkraut and made the process faster. The feet were obviously thoroughly washed.

    China business culture is different. most of the them if not all want to make quick money with not much moral consideration to ensure product is safe especially in food industry. For food, for me i would pay more to buy from reputable international brand as the risk of deliberate food contamination is less, although not entirely 0 risk.
