  • Installed a dual port muffler and HD filter on the ms440.
Saw runs strong, will have to put 5 or 6 tanks through it to break it in and report back.
    Thanks for watching.

You inspired me to rebuild a MS440. First saw I've ever rebuilt. I got it off a friend who couldn't get it to work. The screw on the inside of the muffler came off and into the cylinder. Lucky no damages on the inside. Adjusted the jets and Bam saw runs like new. At least what I assume new is. I'm to poor for a new one. Paid ten dollars and a dooby for the saw.

You mentioned in the part 2 video that you wanted to get it runnin to where you could put on a 24” and have it run through anything with no trouble. I have a MS440 Mag made in 2001 (I think anyhow) that I run a 24” all the time and never have a bit of trouble. The majority of our wood down here in WV is Oak( white, red, Scarlett) Hickory, all the Maples, and Fruits. Do I have a saw that runs better than It should? Or maybe has it been ported before? I bought it used around a year ago and everything looks original except for the exhaust I made for it.

7pin 3/8 sprocket and a full comp 84 driver chain..

I would like to see a 8 pin comparison video if you felt like it

I tend to not change gearing on my saws, but if I decide to try and 8 pin I'll film it..

I have a 2100 husqvarna and I was running 3/8 7 tooth full house and I went too an 8 and I love it. I cut mostly soft wood though. It might not be good in oak and that

I think this saw would pull an 8 pin with a skip chain but I don't think it makes enough torque to pull a long bar with full comp.
My 394 will pull an 8 pin all day.
