    I'm not a servant of Uber or Lyft. I drive for both and I'll talk about whatever I want in my car. My car, my rules. Your car, your rules. You can smoke in my car, if I allow, you can play loud music in my car, if I allow...etc. Uber and Lyft need to chillax. $10/hour doesn't mean you own me. It's rideshare, not you pop's limo service.

      @@btone310 because if u discuss Anything u want, someone eventually Will report you for it, and you can get suspended or fired..read the uber policies. It's there to protect you. In todays hot button issue climate. Men have to watch what they say and how they say it, especially around women, or minorities..even poor taste jokes can get you in trouble. Keep things civil, respectful, and act like a business and you will be respected more than just thought of as a cab driver...which we are not.

    Classic example of "Say no to Pool/Line." Remember, customers are not able to rate the Uber or Lyft experience. If they are pissed at a Pool/Line match their only avenue to complain is to down-rate the driver.
    Also, Pool/Line is twice the work for less money; while taking away a ride from another driver.
    Say "No" to Pool/Line!

    • @ITPalGame

      D G Spencer Ludgate uh Uber's rating protection helps with that.

    • @DGSLudgate
      @DGSLudgate 6 лет назад +4

      Even in Uber, if a rider picks "Conversation" the driver is dinged. (Uber does not differentiate between conversations with the driver and between pool passengers.
      Just say "No" to Pool/Line!

    • @bakadeshi_aunstudios
      @bakadeshi_aunstudios 5 лет назад +3

      interestingly, I usually do not have conversations with my pool/lyft line requests. people usually are just listing to music or looking at their phones. I usually only have conversations with my single riders, or sometimes when there is only 1 pax left in the line they may start talking.

      You are 100% right on that. I take or accept minimal pool rides. Because just like you said, twice the work for Less the money. Pool rides are just ridiculous. I accepted one pool ride request one time. I think I made $3 each so I made a total of almost $10 for three rides that's insane.

    I drive for Lyft, I had 2 Females go on and on about sex. They were talking to each other and not to me. A Male passenger got in and they continued ignoring he was even there. They got very explicit. The Guy was stunned but remained silent.
    I remained out of their conversation the entire time and just drove the car to their destination. I am thankful I have a dash cam which recorded the incident because if they tried to accuse me it was all on video proving I never once engaged in their conversation.
    Having a dash cam can help when being accused of wrongdoing.
    Last year I picked up a passenger who was a Lawyer who successfully sued Uber for millions of $$$$$$$. He strongly suggested that I get a dash cam and I did.
    I agree with your three never to talk about topics but in addition I strongly suggest to have a dash cam as your witness in case of allegation made against you.

    • @bakadeshi_aunstudios
      @bakadeshi_aunstudios 5 лет назад +1

      @M R I have a dash cam with stickers in the car stating so, and my rating are still 4.98 Uber, 5.0 Lyft after almost 300 rides on both. A few times passengers have enquired about it, and I explain that it's for both of our safety and protection in case anything happens, and that I don't even look at it or save anything as long as there is no reason to. They all been cool with it.

    • @UGPVlogsLA
      @UGPVlogsLA 5 лет назад

      Yes, I'm all for dash camera's. These day's you can easily order one online from Amazon for less than $100. You want one that takes up to a 128GB SD card. Buy a bunch of SD card's on Amazon too. I would never recommend the Vantrue N2 pro. I'm now on my third Vantrue and it sucks. You want to get one like a Blackvue that has forward (Front) and rear facing (into the vehicle). Here in LA there is so much traffic and things happening, I was actually pushed onto oncoming traffic the other day. My camera caught it all. Called the company and reported them. Thank god I'm a good experienced driver that did a couple of swift maneuvers. Not to mention my speed, 40mph! I would have hit that other car out of no fault of my own, or them. You must always be mentally alert at all times. Driving tired is just as bad as being intoxicated.
      My advice to any new uber drivers, if you're too tired to drive, DON'T. or even if you're in a bad mood, DON'T drive as you could be risking your passengers lives. ✌🙋🏼‍♀️💖

    • @UGPVlogsLA
      @UGPVlogsLA 5 лет назад

      Glad to hear that you use a dashcam. What state are you in?
      Just remember to buy at least a minimum of 64GB SD card for your dashcam I buy in bulk from Amazon Prime, but I need them for camera equipment etc, so I go through them a lot!
      Do you have a hard drive? to back up your footage at the end of your shift? Or do you use the same SD card and let it record over?
      I should do a video about this...
      The reason I'm asking you is that say a week down the road passes, then you try and go "online" to drive, however, it's says your account is on hold or needs attention. You just never know that maybe a person of the opposite sex said that you threatened them! Yep, this unfortunately does happen. That's why I suggest that you save that footage onto a hard drive before reformatting the SD card.
      I only get good feed back for properly using a dashcam. It can help with your insurance if you have it all caught on camera.
      I have never heard of being rated 1 star for trying to keep us all safe.
      I also made my dashboard sign and the one on back of the console using a Label Maker machine. Love label maker's. Helps me organize all my tech stuff etc for video shoots etc.

    • @UGPVlogsLA
      @UGPVlogsLA 5 лет назад

      @M R I'm so sorry about that. People can be really cruel and we are trying to do our best. It actually takes another 500 trips for that 1 star to drop off your ratings. 😡 Yes, Uber's rating system sucks.
      There are lots of different dash cameras around these days, so the prices can vary. Remember that this is your business too, right now we are all still contractors, so the dash camera is actually tax deductible on your taxes.
      I suggest that you invest in a really good dashcam too. Blackvue is definitely the best, I'm on my third Vantrue N2 pro, you'll hear that a lot of drivers use that camera. However, it really sucks..
      I'll put that on my list of videos to make, Harry actually has a video too, here on his channel. Check it out. 👍
      Let me know where you drive as I also drive for HopSkipDrive and ZUM. Unfortunately, they are only in some major cities, with plans to expand throughout the country. The base/minimum fare is $14. I have made a couple of videos here on Harry's channel, and if you pop on over to my channel, you'll find some more too.
      If you need any help, please feel free to reach out to me. Paula 🙋🏼‍♀️💖

    As a server there is an unspoken law, four things you don't discuss in public.
    1. Politics
    2.Sports
    3. Religion
    4. Sex
    It ALWAYS ends badly.
    The Art of conversation is reputed to be a good read. They key is to let people talk about themselves, or not. You can be civil and carry an intelligent repour without hitting trigger subjects.
    I've been in customer service for fourty years and a huge part of my paycheck came from tips, you can't make a living on gratuities by being unaware. Most folks are pretty decent and for the most part just want to be made to feel as if they matter. Once in a while you'll get a ringer who's just disagreeable, when in doubt just be quiet. And if you must speak, be polite and courtious, after all everyone has their own view of the world they live in, we just pass through...we don't know who they really are, so don't talk to them as if they're your best buddy, they're not and should NEVER be but thats another unspoken rule for another time.

    It's simple: be upfront with people...
    "When I'm on the clock, I don't talk politics, religion, or sex. I don't want to get deactivated."
    As far as the guy talking about sex in front of the female passenger, take control of the situation...
    "Please! Not in front of the lady!"
    If he persists, apologize to the woman.
    If he gets graphic, kick him out. "Sorry, pal, but your ride ends here!"
    It really helps if you have a vehicle with a power sliding door. Pull over...stop...open the door.
    "Out!"
    I wouldn't put up with a passenger being offensive to another passenger. The perp walks...

    My home market is a seasonal tourism destination, so I guess I'm kind of spoiled. All I have to do is keep the conversation focussed on them; I just keep asking questions. Passengers love to talk about how they feel and their vacation because it's 99% positive experiences and it's all about them (and they are rarely stressed out). I do get a lot of questions coming to me but I always remind myself to re-focus back to them.

    Lyft plays zero tolerance for drivers. What if drivers did zero tolerance on Lyft? Maybe it's time for drivers to organize a one week strike on Lyft and solely drive for Uber over rating system, and Lyfts zero tolerance deactivation for passenger complaints. At least Uber gives you warnings and a course to get back in. I like driving for Uber. It feels more professional. I feel Lyft gives too much creedence, compared to Uber, of spurious passenger complaints. Is there motivation for Lyft to maintain high driver turnover as there is with the mega carriers in trucking industry? Lyft has been around 4 years. What is Lyfts retention rate on their drivers who drove 4 years ago? Any of those still around?

He was telling me about is problems and it was worse since he picked me up from work at a hospital he was trying to get to help him with his brothers health problems. It even got to the point where he was asking me to google medical equipment companies that delivered to my hospital and to get him names and numbers so he could call them and even handed me a pen and paper to write things down. this was a hour long trip in rush hour so i was stuck. He seemed really nice but he would not stop badgering me. I just wanted to relax on my long commute home. if i was offering help then its my fault but he was just all "oh could you please check on this, and check on that" and "what do you think this can be or what do you think they will say about this" it sucked.

    I’ve had conversations with riders about all three of the subjects mentioned here and have never received one complaint. Why? Because I always let my riders lead the conversation. I rarely do shared or pool rides so I don’t worry about one passenger saying something that’s offensive to another passenger. I’ve had riders lead me into conversations that made me uncomfortable but I can guarantee that I have never started a conversation that made any of my riders uncomfortable.

    Lyft sucks for deactivation.
    Start out with a bad phone and don't know better? Get lots of navigation errors so you get bad ratings.
    Start out during the drunken holiday December time? Lose ratings due to drunks.
    Lyft will then deactivate you in 2 weeks after you started with no way back, despite the opinions of the local hub agents who would reactivate you if they could.
    Uber, on the other hand, may have a customer service class for $100 you can take to *possibly* be reactivated after passing.

  • @themartinannpodcastwithwan4608
    @themartinannpodcastwithwan4608 5 лет назад

    You know, there's this concept called take control of the conversation. If a passenger begins to talk about things you're uncomfortable with or that you think other passengers might be uncomfortable with, just simply "I need you to change the conversation, please." If they ask for an explanation, you could either give them one or just say that you're not comfortable with OR you actually could say something like, "With all due respect, I don't owe an explanation. It is simply my request that you change the subject." Heads up tho... Contact the rideshare company ASAP to let them know that you feel this rider might complain about you, and go ahead and give them your side of the story before the rider complains. But you don't have to be so soft; just stand your ground. It's your car and your business you're running. These rideshare companies can not control how you work this, outside of REASONABLE expectations. Btw, if the passenger does not comply, you also have the right to put them out, end the trip, and ride off - after giving them a fair warning.

    Hahahahah “SHHHH!” 😂 I think the sex talk is different for women. Men don’t usually complain about that kind of stuff. I wouldn’t bring it up, but it kind of depends on the situation. However, so far, i haven’t had anyone talk about any of these topics.

      Yes, women passengers have tried to seduce me several times, and yes one guy was hitting one me.
      I guess I look attractive to some. :)
      I have to be professional and tell them that the Uber Community Guidelines prohibit fraternization between drivers and passengers.
      Even if there were no rules, I would never get involved with a passenger, as that is a recipe for trouble!
      A woman might report these issues or incidents, I just smile, and chuckle, as most guys would!

    Get a dashcam with audio and video with posted warning signs

    • @mannyistheman2221
      @mannyistheman2221 5 лет назад

      @michael coleman it is illegal to do audio recording of a conversation you're not involved in in an area such as a private space. In some jurisdictions you have the consent of everybody. it is completely legal as long as you have clearly posted signage at each entrance informing people that audio and video surveillance are in use. I have clearly posted signage up that warns everybody about my dashcam and the fact that it is doing audio and video surveillance at each entrance. As long as you have clearly posted signage that is conspicuously placed, anyone comes in and doesn't say anything or comes near the signs and doesn't say anything as an effect given implied consent. Before you just assume something is illegal find a way to make it work and I'm saying this to help you. I hold a bachelor of science in criminal justice c** laude I'm a good college and I do ride sharing and I guarantee you I know what I'm talking about. And Uber and Lyft don't have a problem with it as long as you properly disclose that you're doing that recording either orally or through posted signage. If it was illegal to use a dashcam at why would they be selling them?
      The signs clearly read the following:
      WARNING! AUDIO AND VIDEO RECORDING MAY BE IN PROGRESS IN THIS VEHICLE!
      It's not wise to make assumptions

    Don't even have to watch this - just gotta recall the "three things to never talk about in a bar." Sex, politics and religion. My previous co-worker Glenn - a master politician - taught me simply to say "I heard that" and variations like "gotcha." I would also throw in football with either a Ravens or Cowboys fan - they have no idea how to discuss the sport without adding stupid non-football related issues that have nothing to do with the game itself.

    I don't have Uber pool/line in my area and wouldn't use it if it were there. That way you avoid the one passenger pissing off another passenger trap. Not talking about sex or religion is just common sense. As far as politics goes, I never bring it up. If the passenger brings it up with me and we agree, I'll get into a conversation. If we're on opposite sides, I keep my mouth shut.
    If a passenger tried to insist I come to their church 20 times in spite of my best efforts, I would report them to Uber. Uber should then make sure that that passenger and I are never paired up again. If I don't report them, they are probably going to report me anyway because I refused to go to their church. At least of the countervailing report is there, it should balance things out.

    I had to learn how to compiment people about their looks especially women since i am a guy. Sometimes they girl is just striking and its hard not to say something. You think if they are dressed amazingly they want a compliment. And some do but its risky. Safe compliment their style or an article of clothing...not brassiere or panties.

    I once had a customer enter my vehicle wearing a MAGA hat. He was just grinning from ear to ear, you could tell he was proud of that hat. I pretended like I didn't even notice (that and it's Montana, we have a lot of that, sometimes it's best to let them express themselves and move on).

With regard sex, I’ve have a few female passengers flirting with me and a few girls try hit on me. I’ve never had a sexual conversation with any female as I try stay within professional grounds (and plus I’m married to a beautiful sexy lady - which I love).

      The rates are so low that you have to drive a lot in order to make any real money. Even in those cities mentioned you still have to drive a ton of hours. A lot of the videos you see online only show the "on app time" but they leave out all the time they are driving with the app off.

    Gosh, Glad I have never participated in Uber Pool. I have had several conversations with Pax that want to discuss their disdain for Uber - even while using Uber. Also disdain for Kalinik - even though he's been gone for a while. I don't work too late at night either, because of the crazy peeps going nutz, not thinking clearly. Typical Pax- " How do you like working for Uber? Is this an Uber owned SUV ?" = I answer, " I don't work for Uber, I am independent partner and Uber doesn't own this vehicle " . I do wish that if loading and unloading 4 or 5 pieces of luggage, there should be an implied 10% tip - to pax " It appears that your driver handled several pieces of luggage...would you like to provide him/her a 10% tip?"

You know riders talk about sexual stuff when they are drunk and some talk about politics...etc. Can you say onesided? At least Lyft lets you right in comments.

    Late to the game to reply to this but I've noticed it's always Republicans that LOVE to talk about Trump that bring up the politics. Never heard a Democrat drone on about politics. Yes, I switched topics fast. I'm a Dem but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. However, just like you said, people get emotional about it, and also can't handle opinions from other people. I'm one of the few people that will respect your opinion on it, because it's what you believe. Will I talk about it while giving a ride? That's a hard no. Sex has never been brought up in my rides except which strip club to go to because they're already going. But that's as far as I talk about it as different counties here have different laws with strip clubs. I'm glad we don't have Lyft Line or anything similar here in Florida. I couldn't handle it. The passenger may not match in personalities and then I'm screwed.

    Never talk about a fat woman’s weight! I had a big fat woman passenger get in my car. She was struggling to get in. While she was struggling to get in she told me my car was small (even though it was a large four door sedan). I answer her by saying: “maybe it’s you that is too big sweetie.” She laughed it off, but of course she stabbed me in the back a gave me bad feedback!

    What about polite invitations to join a multi level marketing scheme lolol. Granted they are feeling positive and supportive at lease. For real though. I do mention it sometimes but I don’t directly ask. I TELL and let them ask. Not many do. But anyway. Also badmouthing uber and it’s app glitches lol. That’s something I do sometimes but worry they listen to me and certainly don’t like it. I never ever say I don’t like uber and only say things like their map sucks or about lack of ease using the app and such. I don’t know. Not a huge problem just an icebreaker and a way to get some laughing going and smooth an irritated passenger when they complain I wasn’t there when they wanted me to be or that I wasnt in the right place to pick them. BLANE THE APP HAHA

    This video only went halfway. While this is true the topics he said to talk about are just as controversial depending on the rider. Ever gotten Into a heated debate about sports with a passenger?? Maybe he’s drunk and supports a rival team. The REAL problem here is that these companies give all the power to the rider. Anything can be offensive these days. My beard is offensive to people!! I had some idiot once say to me “ hey man you look like bin laden! That’s not a good look!” WTF?!?? I could have thrown him out and beat his ignorant ass on the spot. This is the real problem. The only way to avoid any problem is to just not talk at all and hope that you don’t smell or look “offensive” to anyone. I love driving but this is probably my biggest gripe with this job.
