When we received this quilt at the studio, we knew it was going to be my project since it was the blues and yellow/golds!!

I’d love to know how long it took you to quilt this beauty.

That is an excellent question. It was done in small sections for filming purposes so I am not sure about an overall time. It actually went pretty quickly other than the initial ruler work!

Amazing adventure! I love how you sketched it out 1st to keep you focused on what had to be done.

Great job on your video and the show! I liked how things flowed talking over the video and you two chatting. It is so hard to quilt on busy fabrics...can't see well where you have gone and where to quilt to. Did you shine lights from the side to better see where you quilted? Do you have a special trick for quilting where it's hard to see the quilting?

Great question. I will often play with the lighting on my machine to help me see better. I have found that a lot of times if I turn off the lights at the needle that I get a bit of a shadow from the throat space light which allows me to see better. Each project is going to be unique with the combination of the threads and fabric so play with the lights and see what works best for you!!
I also had a Handi Light on my Avante that had a gooseneck that I could adjust to cast shadows in certain directions which was very helpful.
