    The PCT Trail is a good example of how good humanity actually is by helping each other with kindness . So cool to witness!

    Great video as usual! Funny - I've had the same buff for 3 years, it's my favorite :) It does look very similar to Arizona and all the extra rain has really transformed the desert with all the beautiful wildflowers. I saw a rattlesnake and bull snake within 10 min of a recent hike and they are gorgeous. Giving the rattlers space is definitely a smart thing, they usually don't want anything to do with humans anyway ;) You are doing great.... I am looking forward to the next one. Happy Trails!

      Rattlesnakes, that looked like a Southern Pacific. Don't throw things, use a stick, or run and jump over them, instead stomp your feet. They pick up on the vibrations when you stomp and will generally move along. Nice vids Tiki Condor.

    Excellent video of the bird in the bush, especially with that wind. Do you know what kind it was? There is nothing better than to hear those magical creatures in the Spring. 😊
    And you just keep saying how beautiful things are, because as you said, “It just is.” I agree. 👌

    Thanks Tracey. Such beautiful scenery. Love the cacti too. You are making it look easy. "It's just a walk in the park". 😁

    Just stomp your feet on the trail if you come upon snake..they can't really hear sounds, they sense vibrations , that's how they hear.. Usually they'll move off if you give the trail a good stomp. Throwing rocks might scare it and trigger aggression. Just a friendly tip:)

      Thanks! It's a 20-day cruise that ends in St.Petersburg, Russia! A marathon, not a sprint! We're on the 12th deck - I'm climbing a lot of stairs instead of using the elevator so I don't feel guilty that I'm eating like I'm going to the electric chair!

    Hi
    Always waiting to see your videos. The desert had so much water this winter, exceptional year, everything green and in bloom. But, it has seemed to have been excessively windy this year? But, it does make it cooler that is nice, since last year it was eighties already. I, will be in the AZ desert o. Wednesday next week hiking. I'll be thinking of your desert journey also. Enjoy yourself!!!

    The first rattlesnake I've seen on video this year! I really love your close up video and still images of different plants and animals you're meeting along the way, it helps me see the variety and color you describe but the camera rarely delivers in broad views. You've got that hiking itch now, it forced you to leave Julian, lol 😂😂

    Getting old is _elll! We can and will accomplish what bulletproof younger hikers do without thought. We just need to use wisdom and different strategies to get it done. The good news is that we smell more "roses" and have time to notice the beauty the outdoors offers daily.

    Good job tucking in out of the wind, but you did mention something about possible rain. So that poses a question about your tent placement. I hope you don’t get wet in low spots or drainage, so do watch out for that when choosing a site to set up. Interesting bird sound. Nice plants. Getting near your 100 mark. 👍

    • @TikiBirdTracy
      @TikiBirdTracy  5 лет назад +3

      I did consider the tent placement and the rain chances went down plus the area had no signs of runoff during recent Winter storms. I am careful about those things 😊

    Seems like your sailing along. In my pct days I started about a month later and it was blistering hot. I was miserable all thru S.caly. Lol.Water was big issue and no trail magic. Now I am content to view vicariously thru a few pct vlogs.

    I didn't see any rattlesnakes... there was a bush that rattled at me North of Cajon Pass, but I didn't slow down, and the snake stayed in the bush.

    Holy moley. Gawd, I do love the desert, or as Mary Hunter Austin said the ndns called it The Land of Little Rain--she like to use the ndn names ever chance she could. Wow lots of cactus and even Cholla as well. Great photography. Sounded like a cactus wren singing. Did I get that one correct?

    That trail section is definitely a stretch without water sources. Out of curiosity, how much water are you carrying? 4 liters?

    • @TikiBirdTracy
      @TikiBirdTracy  5 лет назад

      I believe so. I always carry a bit more than I need, just to be safe in case of any delays or water not there/good.

    • @jtellier0
      @jtellier0 5 лет назад

      @@TikiBirdTracy Wow! That's pretty good because when I hike desert, even for 8 mile trip, I tend to carry between 4 to 6 liters usually because I'm hiking in 80° to 105°. Keep up the great work.
