This is sooo good I was laughing hard
I honestly wasn't prepared for the length, the audacity, and the overall GIRTH of that glorious animation; it made me feel a lot of things and all of them glorious
Imagine this being your first episode....
It's my first episode. I'm a fan of their differing takes on both ice and their hair...styles. I'm not a whiskey drinker but love listening to people that are passionate about niche things.
I think my beard grew 6 inches just watching that Titan Animation .. MAGNIFICENT!!
The Titaning was the stupidest and best damned thing I've ever seen. And that's saying a lot for this channel.

Titan animation was all I hoped it would be. Rex... I only hope this pandemic cools down someday soon so we aren't blinded by you "glorious" skullet every episode. Dry week was completed successfully and as always I was happy to return to my collection refreshed.
Why you gotta do such an awesome Titan animation? Now I must level up to achieve this glory.

OH! MY! GOD! That Titan animation was!...I am SO! ...Heart Racing! ... Blood Pumping! ... Hair on the back of my neck standing up! ... Goose bumps!... SO WORTH THE WAIT!!! YASSSSS!
I'm not sure if you guys have ever tried Dragon's Milk, but it's an incredibly rich and thick stout because it's finished in bourbon barrels.
It adds a lot of sweetness, creaminess, and a huge vanilla bomb. Honestly, a lot of the time I can't even finish one just because of how rich and heavy it is. It's no surprise to me that it would impart some of that sweetness and creaminess onto the whiskey. It's basically just taking the vanilla, brown sugar, and a little bit of cherry from bourbon, dialing it up to 11, and tossing in some lactose elements for good measure. That's a lot of flavor for a whiskey to stand up against.
LOVE LOVE LOVE THE NEW ANIMATION! Very nice.... cannot wait for more.

That titan animation... Jeebus, it took years... YEARS to get it but it's oh so gloriously worth the wait ! Also, cool Deanston drams that I won't be able to find anywhere near me XD
Dragon's Milk Stout is my absolute favorite beer! I need to try this! So these barrels started as bourbon, then aged the stout, and then aged Deanston.
Finished in a stout barrel.
The titan animation was just simply epic. Speaking as a Michigander, of course we're known for international collaboration. We're the state that waves hello to the rest of the world for the US.

I haven't gotten into whiskey that much before. There is just soo much variety, and I know soo little, that it just intimidated me. This channel is starting to change that for me. They're just soo knowledgeable, and soo silly, that I find myself wanting to try all of these whiskies they showcase.
That was a ricockulous acid trip of an animation... And, I'm here for it.
Deanston VO & 12 is 46.3%, VO has a distinct ripe banana on the nose. 12 is a lot more rounded, they are very different.
Glad I am working from home, that reveal made me wheeze out loud with laughter.
Also, as a Michigander, I will attest to the Scottish heritage thing. I'm from an English-town, but in my heart has always been with Scottland (ever since I found this channel).
I own 4 full kilt sets (flashes, hoses, herringbone vests, what have you) and have a whole room in my basement dedicated to scotch (and dust bunnies). However, it was heartbreaking when my genes test came back with 88% Korean, 12% Japanese, and ZERO PERCENT SCOTTISH. I will be *suing* that company and using that money to fund the next genetics test from the next best company.
Haha! Another Michigander here, and as far as I'm concerned my heart lies with Scotland, even if I have no Scottish blood. Like Scotland, we have an eternal rivalry with those to our south: Ohio

Port and brandy cask finishing definitely has a special place in my heart. Especially for bourbons and peated Islays.

I actually totally agree with a touch of ice on some occasions. I normally neat pour, but sometimes a bit of ice feels right. And sometimes it does bring out a bit of something in a whisky that I otherwise didn't enjoy. I like exploring things and sometimes I buy a bottle that works better with a little ice.
The titan animation was worth the waittt
Although i would like to see Rex with rainbow hair and a tophat, I think the Skullet could be enhanced with some wild color in those long locks.

Heaven's Door Double Barrel is a fave on ice. The 50% ABV and the extra wood impact stands up to it very well.

Balcones Brimstone. Totally maintains it's character on the rocks. Going one step further, some Topo Chico mellows out the unpleasant bits (Balcones is challenging), while keeping some really interesting, refreshing character you don't see elsewhere.
The Deanston Distillery is one of the best I've visited. It's in an old cotton mill, and they still use the waterwheel from the nearby river to power the distillery. Well worth a visit!
I agree with Rex, I definitely LOVE a neat pour when its a new to me whiskey. However I get lots of the more nuanced and pleasant flavors with one large ice cube. My favorite bourbon right now is the the old forester 86 blossoms with chocolate flavors and deep cherry on the rocks.

I tried a bulleit rye that had been chilled because a friend threw it in the ice chest. It tasted like a completely different whisky. It was really floral and friendly. i never tried it again or on ice but it might be worth a try.
Hey Daniel and Rex, was really waiting for you to review the brandy cask deanston. Picked it up last year at a local shop and have loved it since, glad to get your guys take on it
My God! That animation was awesome!
Part of the creaminess probably comes from the fact that Dragon's Milk is a milk stout. It uses lactose as part of the sugars in the brewing creating that creamy flavor and texture in the beer.

I agree with Rex! I am all for exploring Whiskies with some ice. As a WINE lover I can tell you how much the expression of a wine can change with changes in temperature!. So with whiskies, I would expect to find changes in flavor, expression, complexity, and character WITH the colder water (ice), cooler temperature, and dilution!

@@johan3680 At the end of We Tried To Do a Podcast on the Whiskey Tribe channel Rex made a bet with Daniel based on the Superfight card game, Rex had to shave his head into the "skullet" if he lost, Daniel had to grow his hair out if he lost, for as long as lockdown lasts in the US.

I wish Deanston was easier to find in Oregon. Virgin Oak is my current favorite affordable single-malt and I had to order some from an online store recently. I took 4 weeks to arrive because the quarantine caused a huge flood of online liquor buying.

My brother in law is a Scotsman and they do use ice depending on the whisky, not all of them but some to enjoy more of the flavors but yes I know thats nothing new to you guys lol, great vids, keep em coming 👍

The type of ice used makes a huge difference. I have a countertop ice maker at my cottage and the ice is horrible for spirits because it’s white ice, not clear. Clear ice melts slower and keeps the drink cooler longer.

I didnt do dry week but I always give up drinking for a couple of months and that process has started last Sunday for me

Dragons milk is a bourbon barrel aged milk stout! Its a sweet beer!, but one of my faves!
Deanston is an integrity malt, and the virgin oak and 12 year are both bottled at 46.3%, not 43.
