@4:55 I meant the choke pickup circuit is a little clogged causing high idle when choked. Really enjoying the support from and being part of the community for these Yamaha two stroke twins, not to mention how many heads these things turn, compliments, and waves from people admiring them out on the road. Great to see this, brings back a lot of memories riding the 70s stuff, I remember buying a brand new yam dt 250 monoshock, 78 plate, cost 500 pounds but had to have it over 3 years higher purchase, good times, respect from Wales UK

Just bought one in mint condition, cost me a fortune but had to have it, my first proper road bike as a 16 year old in 1971, having a few issues with the carbs flooding think i also have dragged some rust in them as the tank is a bit rusty, still the joys of having an old classic, loved your vlog knowing others having similar issues, your yds7 sounds great thanks to the work you have done to it.great job thanks from Wales Great Britain 👍
Thanks I really appreciate that! Yeah you’re probably getting rust stuck between the float needle/valve and seat unless float height level is just off. Throwing some copper BBs in the tank with some degreaser then shaking it around a good bit worked really well for the inside of my tank. Also filling and soaking in white vinegar a few days works well, however, it’ll eat away at any liner still in the tank and cause flash rusting fairly quickly. Either way it’d be good to get it professionally lined to prevent any further rusting.
My first bike back in 1978. Changed the crank a couple of times back then and gear selector for second gear. I could take the Engine apart blindfolded back in them days 😊
Nice job I have 1975 RD 350 that I brought back around. You should check out new seat cover and foam think it cost me $100 together the only complaint foam is stiff but look great.
Got 2 of these sitting in the barn that look to have been last licensed in the early 80s. any idea of where to start? One has a locked up engine, but is in overall better condition i think but still needs other work (gas tank locked tight, seat is rusted apart), other one I think is still able to move, but not the best shape overall. They look like fun bikes! What do you think the top cruising speed would be on one of these if I was wanting to go on a hour drive with this?
Haven't came across one of the 200 electrics yet but we'll keep an eye out for one. We've got a 75' rd350 that's getting the crank rebuilt and should be on it's way back soon! 🤙
Just finishing up a '72 DS7....needed 1st over new top end....carb cleaning, chain & sprockets, new seat(made in Vietnam...Excellent copy)..battery, fuel lines, rebuild petcock, throttle/oiler cable, clean up brakes and new front cable. one new coil.........LOTS of cleaning & polishing..8,950 original miles, all original condition,,,runs and shifts well, fairly good cosmetics. Just finished a ;72 R5 a few months ago, had lots more problems than this one, but better cosmetic condition!

Loved the 70s Yamahas 250/200 electric and the 350.
