Bought the Creality K1 Max on sale for $511... I'm returning it and getting the A1 instead. I don't care about the bigger size on the K1 Max. I just don't want to have to tinker with it endlessly to get a decent print. That and the reviews on it are less than reassuring

Really nice video. I have three x1c's and one mini and by far the many is my favorite. It is so quiet I keep it in the bedroom. And, just like the excellent seas, it just works. It never gives me any problems. Within 2 weeks of purchasing my first X1C, I gave away my Prusa MK3S+ along with all of the accessories I had purchased for it over the years. Thank you kindly. I just Ordered mine after watching this video and am looking forward to my new toy. I have Qid X Max, Ender 5 and Ender 3 Pro printers and need an upgrade. Thanks again.
I’ve been printing with generic printers for a few years now. My first came with a proprietary slicer and, while lacking in accurate bed leveling capabilities, my past experience allowed me to manually configure it and it has remained my primary workhorse due to the quality of its prints. Other printers I used were for better speeds or for dual colour on an IDEX machine. But then I saw the A1 with 4 colour AMS lite with a hobbyist price and automatic everything and figured it was worth a try. When it was set up and I printed the benchy on the card, I was shocked. The printer was almost completely automatic. With the various sensors on the printer, it takes the voodoo out of 3D printing. The only thing you need to do is tune your filament settings and print settings for your material and the printer will adjust itself accordingly to give you top quality prints at lightning speeds. The only downside is that with all the automatic functions and sensors, this also means that with no way to manually override them, there is no way to function if any of them fail.
Jim leaning on ordering an A1 shortly. I've been using an Ender 3 Pro for several years and this past summer started using Orca Slicer, I really like it. I have a few questions for the Bambu owners that use Orca Slicer --- 1 - I do not plan on using the Bambu slicer or its cloud capabilities, so do I need to install Bambu Studio to update firmware on the printer? 2 - I was leaning in the direction of once firmware is updated to logout so the printer does not connect to Bambu Labs. Is this possible?? (I would periodically reconnect to Bambu to get new firmware updates) 3 - In the Orca Slicer Setup Wizard I have a choice of an Orca login or Bambu login - what's the difference? What do they get me? Thank you
That's great! You should not need to install Bambu studio. You can use orca slicer and do everything you need to. I don't know if the new printer is in orca slicer yet, but it will be eventually. Your plan works or you just login once, update the printer and then you should be able to log out on the printer. And as far as the login on orca, to be honest I am not sure about that part. I've only used my BAMBU login. I'm guessing you're going to send everything to the printer via SD card, correct? Or at least your LAN.

I’m new to 3D printing and due to this video I will be getting the Bambu Lab A1. I do have a question, does this 3D printer come with a scanner? Please realize I’m new to this. Thank you.
I printed the Mark Rober Compliant Mechanism with the sample filament i got with my 3D printer.. it literally ran out perfectly at 100 %... the last bit of filament disappeared into the extruder and everything
Both of them would be very good! If you're trying to keep on a lower budget, I would probably go with the A1 and use some of the rest of the budget for filament! Start with PLA as it's the easiest to print and you can get a ton of fun colors!

You can definitely use it on a LAN or with the usb! I am not sure how it works with the firmware, I haven't looked into that because I always just connect them to my network. Good question!
Btw: you always could use your lan/wlan to directly upload your g-code to an p1p or s via ftps:// n.n.n.n:990, username "bblp" and the password shown in your printer setup. Won’t help with uptates though, those are webbased only as far as I know. The A1’s integration is much more seamless, for sure.
@@florianhelm999 I guess after thinking about it Amazon, Google, Apple, Roku etc. sure know a lot about what I buy, search or watch and since I don't do proprietary stuff having the machine connected to the cloud is probably OK. I suppose even if it's connected in 'LAN Only' and the LAN has internet connectivity the printer (or any other device with proprietary /nefarious intent) can phone home.
Bambu Lab has proven themselves to be a competent designer of stable printers. Sure, they aren't perfect in EVERY way... but they have steamrolled the competition in their price point. They are machines that just work, and that's a huge step for consumer 3d printing.
Absolutely! It just cost a little more in the long run if you do that. But no big deal, if you can only afford to printer for now do that and then save up for the AMS!
I wonder how this compares to the AnkerMake M5C. I just got one of those and its so amazing. A friend was showing me this one since I was thinking about getting another printer and this was almost the same price.
Right now in the UK the P1P I can get for £549.00 (I have seen for £457), The A1 with AMS is £509. I'm torn on which to purchase, this is my first 3D Printer. Agree I lose the colour option with the P1P, but I can add that at a later date with the AMS, but which is the better for first time and value for money. Bed Slingers (A1) or XY (P1P)?
@TheEdgeofTech how would you compare the A1 to the M5 better worse about the same. I’m as of now getting the M5 at there sale price so with that is it a better deal/printer then the A1 or no.
Prusa: Your 1000€+ printer comes with the same default values for input shaping for every printer, because we didn't want to spend the money for including an actual sensor. Bambulab: Our cheapest printers don't only come with the necessary sensors, we also measure before each print, to ensure optimal performance each and every time.
Thank you for this superb video, does the A1 make prints as pretty as a p1s or x1, is it better?, similar? or worse? I'm still hesitant to buy it, thank you in advance, good luck...
I would say they are pretty equal to those machines. It prints very well, and if it's the type of machine you need, and you can afford it, definitely recommend!
Could the A1 AMS be in put in a dry-box of some sort? I print everything is from a drybox. I live in Florida and humidity sucks. Even when the printer lives in an A/C environment.
Wait... 2:40 "..bed temperature exceeds filament's vitrification temperature, .... . Please keep the front door of the printer open ... ". Seems Bambu have been too occupied with release date and haven't changed the guidance meant for printers with enclosure. How quite is printer after noise cancellation? Why nobody is measuring the dB-s? The only hope is Aurora Tech...
That was filmed with beta firmware, haha. Good catch! It's really quiet, pretty much only hear the fans. I measured it on the A1 Mini if and this is about the same. Thanks for the suggestion though!!
Although the BL filaments with the RFID are cool, the release of the A1, A! mini, and Christmas has caused most of the PLA filaments to be sold out, for almost 2 weeks now. Waiting for them to get restocked. And this was right after I got my new AMS installed on my P1S. Bummer 🤪 Looking at getting an A1 too.
8:43 Thanks for the informative video...new to 3D printing and still trying to decide what my first buy is going to be. Looking at a Saturn 3 if I decide to go resin or the A1 or an Ender 3 if I choose the filament route. Trying to make the best choice for my first puchase.
I'm honestly a little sad I bought an A1 mini, when I could have got a regular A1. I suppose I could have guessed based on the nomenclature... Dont get me wrong, I love the A1 mini, but I bought a P1S on blackfriday because of the build volume. It would have been nice to know I could have bridged the gap with just the A1
True, and I understand for sure. But you have 2 of the best printers out there right now, and a great size depth with those two. I think you are golden!
Don't be disappointed about buying the P1S. It's a solid core XY printer and because of the enclosure, it gives you the option to print in materials that require it. I have one and it's been nothing short of a work horse. 👍 No more tinkering with the printer. Design the part, slice it and send to the printer for great quality parts. My only regret is that I didn't buy it sooner. I definitely don't miss my last bed slinger.
New A1 or P1S? I have an X1C with two AMS, rarely use both and was thinking on a second BL printer, used to easiness and quality of X1C but don"t want another high priced printer, I am selling prints and prototyping. Many TPU and ABS parts too. Which one? Thanks!
OOHH Good question. In your case, I would go with the P1S as you could use one of the AMS units you already have with it, if you want. It will do all of the same printing, and has the same size, but you get the benefit of having the option of using the second AMS on it!!
@@TheEdgeofTech thanks! Interesting point of view where the P1S and A1 boundaries are, one an upgrade of a mini, the other a striped version of an X1C…. Which one brings more tech to the table. Still trying to find an excuse to get the A1 🤣
Depending on the size of the helmet and the size you printed at, yes. I have seen Uncle Jessy print helmets on his bambu lab machines. I would definitely check out his channel for that!
Haha thank you! I miss those intros too! Maybe I'll try to bring some of the music back in some upcoming videos 🙂 I hope they come out with a bigger one too and I can't wait to see what they do in the new year! Thank you for watching 🙂

is a there a 3d printer that i don't have to wait months for. I dont care if its really fast. Been looking for a weeks. i only see Prusa, bambu and K1 max/k1c
If I were Joseph Prusa I would be SERIOUSLY rethinking my prices right now. Bambu are leaving them in the dust on build, engineering, innovation, and pricing. Even Voron, that can iterate quickly has been left in the dust.
Wow. Bambu is really knocking it out of the park with all of the innovations and the price is nice. I just wish it wasn't a bed slinger and the AMS system is so ugly. Congrats on the 100K subs!
@TheEdgeofTech I am the designer of the jet engine model. The hardware kit will be included in about half of the A1 initial production batch units. The other half will get another model’s hardware kit. Model files are available on MakerWorld. I’d post a link, but that’ll get this comment deleted.
im gonna predict a bunch of ams clones incoming, ones that integrate either wifi or hard wired but cheap with plugs for slicers to make multicolor fairly easy. it may be another year but this is the solution for colorswapping thats been needed for fdm for a while. i liked the palette idea but i hadnt encountered it before i came across the bambu ams and iv been following a guy trying to go multihead instead of multithread ... i think i prefer the multihead but its hard to argue against the ams
Great prediction, let's see in the next year how it goes! I have a pallet two and a pallet 3 Pro that have not been out of the box because it's way easier to use these machines. That being said, easier to use multicolor systems should be a thing of our future! Thanks for watching!
Great Review. Question: I see white spools on the AMS so I assume that it is PETG. If you don’t print this stuff within a few days, isn’t it a bad place to let it sit open cause of moisture in the room? I am just curious cause the „old“ AMS has an enclosure and dessicant.
Newbie here and considering buying a Bambu printer. Was looking at the X1 but then this A1 is interesting. Question: Since the A1 head temp of 300 degrees is the same temp as the X1, can this A1 print the same filaments as the X1? In the A1 specs, it says not recommended for the additional filament materials... I am just not clear why those additional filaments would not be recommended for the A1... thanks for the help.
Some of the filaments that the X1C prints that the A1 does not, may require things like a consistent chamber temperature, an enclosure, toxic VOC filtering, and a hardened steel extruder. There are a few more factors to consider than just nozzle/hotend temperature. I love my X1C. Cheers!
Out of these which one should I get ? • Elegoo Neptune 4 plus • Creality K1 • Ender 5 S1 • Anycubic Kobra Plus • Bambu A1 Or any other printer thats in the £300 price range
To be honest, you are my favorite one to watch, It is maybe asked to much maybe not? But any chance you can explain us how to use a 3D printer using PLA and get these subjects done ? * Leveling bed. * Nozzle range from bed. * Software to use best or you use. * How do we correct filament in these softwares? * How do we replace a nozzle. * How do we set up out 3d printer inside the software. My brother brought me an learning 3D printer he told me not to break it. So here i am. You are kinda the only one i can trust. So far all your information on your channel is golden. So hopefully there would be a small little video guide❤
Bambu Labs make great printers. Now as for their filament supply, that is a different story. I don't know how you are going to make your hue forge thingies with Bumbu filaments because they will be out of stock before they go on sale. This ongoing filament shortage, while not stopping your printing, does remove the convenience of the RFid tag and the replacement spools.
Hi Jim, Awesome video like always. Do you know if in the future we will be able to connect multiple AMS Lites??? And or if we can use it with the X1C???
I appreciate that! I don't know for sure to be honest. I am not sure they will ever run more than 1 on the A1 machines. And at this time the AMS Lite can only be used on the A1 Machines, but you never know!
Love your content. I was wondering I recently saw a mount for a 3rd party camera for the A1. Do you know how to setup a 3rd party camera for a A1 series if so I think that it might be a good video to do. Since we all know that the A1 camera is only really for seeing if your print wen to pasta/pyro land. Thank you again for the excellent content.
Would be awesome if you had a friend of yours that knows nothing about 3d printing be in a video with you and you can film him/her unboxing and setting up and getting prints going all on their own to see how user friendly it is. Maybe even compare to an Ender and Prusa.

Bambu Lab has proven themselves to be a competent designer of stable printers. Sure, they aren't perfect in EVERY way... but they have steamrolled the competition in their price point. They are machines that just work, and that's a huge step for consumer 3d printing.
Thank you, Jim.
Thanks for watching!
What other things should I purchase at the same time from their website? Extra parts?
Not sure if you need any parts but maybe extra build plates or hot ends if you want. Definitely filament!
How about on the square swatches have the RFDI tag so you can just swap the swatch and it loads the parameters for the color.
Thank you for a genuine review
Can I buy the AMS Lite after get the A1 Printer
Absolutely! It just cost a little more in the long run if you do that. But no big deal, if you can only afford to printer for now do that and then save up for the AMS!
buy the combo, it saves you around a hundred or so if i recall. may as well get it right away AND get more filament :D
Do you have to use the Bambu filament for it to detect when the filament has run out or jammed?
I wonder how this compares to the AnkerMake M5C. I just got one of those and its so amazing. A friend was showing me this one since I was thinking about getting another printer and this was almost the same price.
This is the winner for me! Yep, I'll be purchasing this ❤
Its going off sale for both for like 480 i think ish right now with the ams
They just recalled this printer, the heat bed cables are susceptible to damage and a n issue with the heat bed.
How does the multicolor works printing , can they make all RAL colors
@TheEdgeofTech how would you compare the A1 to the M5 better worse about the same. I’m as of now getting the M5 at there sale price so with that is it a better deal/printer then the A1 or no.
Prusa: Your 1000€+ printer comes with the same default values for input shaping for every printer, because we didn't want to spend the money for including an actual sensor.
Bambulab: Our cheapest printers don't only come with the necessary sensors, we also measure before each print, to ensure optimal performance each and every time.
The P1P is on sale right now for $600. How do the two compare? Is it worth it to spend a little extra for the P1P?
Thank you for this superb video, does the A1 make prints as pretty as a p1s or x1, is it better?, similar? or worse? I'm still hesitant to buy it, thank you in advance, good luck...
I would say they are pretty equal to those machines. It prints very well, and if it's the type of machine you need, and you can afford it, definitely recommend!
very good , thank you very much for your return , I just ordered:)@@TheEdgeofTech
Could the A1 AMS be in put in a dry-box of some sort? I print everything is from a drybox. I live in Florida and humidity sucks. Even when the printer lives in an A/C environment.
Oohh I think you could make something for that!! That's a good video idea too! haha
Get a print tent, It gets warm from the printer and can be a dry box. Also you can filter it for the micro plastics these open printers produce.
Jim, I think you really like it. Does look like a great first printer esp if you want auto filament - color changes
Absolutely!! Thanks for watching!!
I hope it comes to new Zealand soon. Looks great .
JIM are you saying i can buy the bambu lab a1 on your site?
@@prestongriffin416 No, it would be purchased through Bambu Lab using the link in the description of the video! 😁
Although the BL filaments with the RFID are cool, the release of the A1, A! mini, and Christmas has caused most of the PLA filaments to be sold out, for almost 2 weeks now. Waiting for them to get restocked. And this was right after I got my new AMS installed on my P1S. Bummer 🤪
Looking at getting an A1 too.
I see everyone talking about the combo, but for a hobby printer, do I really need the AMS?
Hi! Could you share the link for Sven you mentioned at 11:30? Thanks for the great vid!
8:43 Thanks for the informative video...new to 3D printing and still trying to decide what my first buy is going to be. Looking at a Saturn 3 if I decide to go resin or the A1 or an Ender 3 if I choose the filament route. Trying to make the best choice for my first puchase.
Get the latest ender 3. The S1 and V3se for your budget.
I am new to this channel, congrats to 100k!
Really cool video!
I love this machine
Thank you! I really appreciate that and I really appreciate you being here !
Bro, thank you so much for the advice🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤
Still trying to find an excuse to get the A1 🤣
Is this size good enough for some helmets and occasional armor?
Depending on the size of the helmet and the size you printed at, yes. I have seen Uncle Jessy print helmets on his bambu lab machines. I would definitely check out his channel for that!
I want to retire my “cr 10 s Pro”. Is the A1 a good choice? X1C is a bit too expensive for me.
If the size of the build area is good with you, this would be a huge step up from.what you have now!
I just bought the X1C and AMS and was expecting the swatches to come with it but they did not, do they only come wih the A series?
For now I think, but I thought they said it might change going forward!
Should I get Bambu or Prusa for parts? How is Bambu in terms of resistence
do they come with a bigger X1-Carbon with a build area like the Pursa XL?
Not yet, but we are hoping they will bring one out soon!
i have a1 mini and the prints are amazing!
Totally agree!
Love your reviews and enthusiasm. I miss the headbanger aspect you used to have in the videos. Hope Bambu makes a larger printer.
Haha thank you! I miss those intros too! Maybe I'll try to bring some of the music back in some upcoming videos 🙂 I hope they come out with a bigger one too and I can't wait to see what they do in the new year! Thank you for watching 🙂
Thanks for the awesome run-down.
New sub here. Congratulations on all of your progress with your channel so far. Keep it up! Thanks for the video. I loved your original X1 videos too. I really hope bambu labs releases a larger printer soon I’m dying for one.
Thank you! I really appreciate that and I really appreciate you watching the videos! I'm hoping for a larger one next year! Fingers crossed!
is a there a 3d printer that i don't have to wait months for. I dont care if its really fast. Been looking for a weeks. i only see Prusa, bambu and K1 max/k1c
Which is better for beginners than A1 or mini?
What would suggest print off 3d faces? I don’t see any videos on this!
JIM what is the price on the bambu lab a1 not combo PRESTON
@@prestongriffin416 I believe if you use my link in the video it's $339 right now!
Might be a dumb question. But, can you use other brands of filiment? Not just the Bambu brand?
@6:45 you’re doing cnc stuff? Heck yeah! As a machinist I love watching people get into cnc.
I got to get that featured on my channel more!
Just curious. Has anyone did a y connector to allow the ability to have the external spool to be easily interchangeable between it and the ams lite?
If I were Joseph Prusa I would be SERIOUSLY rethinking my prices right now. Bambu are leaving them in the dust on build, engineering, innovation, and pricing. Even Voron, that can iterate quickly has been left in the dust.
Great video, and great prints!
Thanks! It's not 17 benchies but you know had to be something lol
Thanks great information I am intimately trying to figure out how to get started in 3d for rc airplane parts thanks again
I just looked to buy one and it seems to be out of stock?
It seeing the hueforge packs on Bambu?
Wow. Bambu is really knocking it out of the park with all of the innovations and the price is nice. I just wish it wasn't a bed slinger and the AMS system is so ugly. Congrats on the 100K subs!
Congrats to 100k subs!! Really well deserved!!
A question. Does that ams light work with a P1S? Or do I need the full AMS? Love my P1P/S!
Thanky you! I appreciate it!! No, not that I know of. You want the Lite for the A1's and the regular AMS units for the Other machines.
there is any coupon code?
Are they not including a project kit like the A1 mini?
I believe they are. Yes! I got a pretty sweet jet engine but I wasn't clear if that was going to be in every one so I did not show it.
@@TheEdgeofTech Cool. Thanks for the reply.
@TheEdgeofTech I am the designer of the jet engine model. The hardware kit will be included in about half of the A1 initial production batch units. The other half will get another model’s hardware kit. Model files are available on MakerWorld. I’d post a link, but that’ll get this comment deleted.
@@CSY-15Awesome!!! It's a great model man!!
@@CSY-15 I just bough the A1. Do you have a link to the jet engine kit I could take a look at? If mine doesn't come with it, I'd like to buy one.
im gonna predict a bunch of ams clones incoming, ones that integrate either wifi or hard wired but cheap with plugs for slicers to make multicolor fairly easy. it may be another year but this is the solution for colorswapping thats been needed for fdm for a while. i liked the palette idea but i hadnt encountered it before i came across the bambu ams and iv been following a guy trying to go multihead instead of multithread ... i think i prefer the multihead but its hard to argue against the ams
Which camera did you use to record this video?
Sony A7C II. And a sigma 24-70 f2.8 lens. amzn.to/3RX4Pvk
Can anyone tell me the height of the machine with the print head at its highest?
I wonder if it will fit on my Prusa shelves?
Cheers!
Can you use the AMS with other bambu printers like the p1p?
No. They can use the other AMS but not the AMS lite.
@@TheEdgeofTech darn. Thanks for the reply! You rock!
Out of these which one should I get ?
• Elegoo Neptune 4 plus
• Creality K1
• Ender 5 S1
• Anycubic Kobra Plus
• Bambu A1
Or any other printer thats in the £300 price range
Thx for the reply
No worries, thank you for watching!
Does it come with a fire extinguisher?
I was close to get one, then I saw it was out of stock. Nothing says when it will be back
To be honest, you are my favorite one to watch,
It is maybe asked to much maybe not?
But any chance you can explain us how to use a 3D printer using PLA and get these subjects done ?
* Leveling bed.
* Nozzle range from bed.
Is the mount screw for $1.99 to put the filament holder above the machine?
Bambu Labs make great printers. Now as for their filament supply, that is a different story. I don't know how you are going to make your hue forge thingies with Bumbu filaments because they will be out of stock before they go on sale. This ongoing filament shortage, while not stopping your printing, does remove the convenience of the RFid tag and the replacement spools.
Is the Bed slinger the only slang word for printers?
Hi Jim, Awesome video like always.
Do you know if in the future we will be able to connect multiple AMS Lites??? And or if we can use it with the X1C???
I appreciate that! I don't know for sure to be honest. I am not sure they will ever run more than 1 on the A1 machines. And at this time the AMS Lite can only be used on the A1 Machines, but you never know!
Bro, how you get those clear extrusions on the mini?
It was a prototype that they sent me! I love it! I really wish they would release this version lol
Im sooooo jelly! If it ever becomes a shelf dust collector pls dont forget about meee.. id take it off your handsies! ;) @@TheEdgeofTech
