I did this with the bilsteins 5100 all around and fj coils in the front, I've never had issues with coil popping out on trails fully articulated rear with the front endlinks in the rear
I’m doing this, this weekend with 5100 all around. I put the front shocks at 1.6” lift so I’m hopefully this will level it out. Not for my 4Runner but for my moms. I hope it rides better with the 5100.
youre saying they are blown? ive changed them since. i think my axle breather line got blocked. stopping was fine but it was disgusting when i got into the drum brakes im suprised it wasnt more of an issue
Yup I think that’s the case. I think the original springs are just worn out over time and compress more. The ride wasn’t overly stiff with the new ones
@@jcorellana34 depends on what you do with your 4runner. If you mostly drive on road I would just throw in some spacers over your springs and call it a day. New shocks tho would help
@@baileyboyens i just saw the walkaround, i'm a venezuelan guy that just got rid of my zuk to jump up to a 97 3rd Gen, could be pretty helpful to talk to you directly, are you on instagram?
Rok your car hey I’m pretty sure I put the measurements in the video... it was about an inch and a half I think nothing crazy but it bright the rear end back to life.
After a month of driving the coils will settle in and you wont have your 1 1/2” of lift. Have you checked it? Also any further information on that bottom seating- any noises or displacement?
J Lee Chronicles after months it’s still just about as tall. The bottom seating has been fine no noise or displacement. I should remeasure height soon. I won’t be back in Utah till late Septemberish then I will start posting again.
Hey do you think the rear shocks fit from the 5th gen 4runner ? Also I have rough country shocks with ome 890 springs and it's too stiff would this swap make it less stiff?
I don’t think the shocks would work I think the mounts are different. I’m not sure fore the rough country shocks and 890 coils because I’ve never used them before. I have a all new set up now basically
the shocks would fit, but you would need travel stops/straps as they extend several inches longer & might allow the coils to pop out on full extension.
chughes44 I will soon! I filmed some stuff just need to put the video together. I ended up using the tundra bilstein 5100 and fj cruiser coils up front.
Alexander Smith didn’t notice a ton better ride but it just brought some life to the backend. I now just added toytec 3 inch coils in the back and 5100s. The ride is nice now but still don’t notice too much of a difference haha I am goin to upload a video soonish
S rudy I know the front shocks don't work they are too long. But im pretty sure people have used the coils from the front but I don't think they net any lift
Somebody leave a comment! Are you going to do this as well? Leave results! I just did a tundra 5100 and Fj cruiser cool lift in the front I'll put up a video soon
This was the first time I'd have heard or seen about putting 5th gen coils in cool to know though. I plan on putting an ome 891/883 coil and billy shock lift in my 98 in the next couple weeks here, then some 33's. Just saw your tg bumper video as I'm planning on building my own tube bumpers for it, what did you end up doing with the rest of the frame rails that stuck out a past the mount?
+TryFailNinja I just trimmed down the pointy part of the rails and there is that capped off part. I just painted it and left it like that. It's like totally fine with the trailgear mounting bracket. I'll try and post a full rig walk around soon and show that painted. Thanks for commenting!
I have a set of 5th gen spring lying around. Are the stock shocks long enough for the springs? I’ll be trying this out soon. Also how well does it articulate on the trails compared to stock?
@@baileyboyens I dont think I got as much lift as everyone else claims. Maybe a half inch. Visually I'm close to level, maybe a slight reverse take. Ride is much improved.
Check my other videos out.
One spring should always be higher to compensate the extra weight of the fuel tank. You might have gotten two one side.
Does the 5th gen shocks and struts fit also?
@@Asian_Connectionthe front won’t work. I’m not positive but I’m almost positive the rear doesn’t work either.
@@baileyboyens thanks for the reply, so only the 5th gen rear springs are the only part that will work?
@@Asian_Connection yes at least that’s the only part I’ve ised

Nice! for now im still stock shocks in the rear but should update to 5100 soon..
Randy Zelenay how much lift did it give u ?
I updated all my suspension now

Louie Morales let me know how it went!
what year 5th gen springs?
Not specific. I forgot if I mention in the video the ones I used. Any 5th Gen could should give a 3rd Gen a bit of a lift tho
Nice truck man. I’m waiting on my OME 906 springs for my 99 so I’m really anxious
nice man! always fun getting new parts in.
I love ksl man! These 4runners go for a ton of money in this state too. Theres multiple online now for over ten grand haha
Mr.TooTall 939 seriously they hold there value so well. But ten G is just ridiculous!
One spring should always be higher to compensate the extra weight of the fuel tank. You might have gotten two one side.
it wokred. maybe there was a lean but it didnt affect me much
then coils spring of the 5th if it fits the 3rd?
is that they are selling me some 3" 5th and I want to use it for 3rd... will it fit???
Would probably fit but i wouldn’t recommend would probably ride bad
@@baileyboyens thanks
Did you put Jack stands on the wheel to support the car? Pretty sketchy.
Yes I do not recommend but it works. I have bigger jacks now!
It's not heavier in the rear it's heavier where the gas tanks at and it is a difference for your rear coil springs
yer axle seals are done. how you stop?
youre saying they are blown? ive changed them since. i think my axle breather line got blocked. stopping was fine but it was disgusting when i got into the drum brakes im suprised it wasnt more of an issue
What sizes tires are you running?
If they are the Firestone those were 265/75r16
So they are re shorter but stiffer resulting in more ride height ?
Yup I think that’s the case. I think the original springs are just worn out over time and compress more. The ride wasn’t overly stiff with the new ones
Do you know what blistin shocks would fit if you do the front springs form 5th gen?
I dont. i would compare those springs to the stock springs you have and see ow similar they are. not sure if those would work or not.
Before you put the 5th gen coils this 3rd gen 4runner was lifted?
No it was stock
Thanks I'm currently on 3" lift but I need to do something on the rear any help is very welcome 🙏

Seems kinda high for stock
@@Robbswag what ya mean? before ?
hey Bai!!! have you tried some front coil from another rig to our 3rd gen in order to increase clearence?
I use Fj cruiser coils in the front for mine
