    Dan Worrall - these are still fantastic 6 years later than your original release and I see they will have a new life as I share them with my City College of San Francisco audio production courses in our Broadcast Electronic Media Arts department. My students are always thankful for the myriad sources I curate for them. Tonight, I found this one by you. AMAZING. We all bought some FabFilter plugs during the late November deals. I'm loving my Pro Q3. Now, I must try the MB even though I have so many plugs that cover this already: you make me feel like the FabFilter MB would be my GO TO if I had it in my plugin locker. THANK YOU.

    Explainers don't get better than this. Products are seriously good, too, as we all know.

    i get the feeling that this guy is reading a script... he has too many blessings to have such a golden voice and accent to be blessed again with good mixing skills.

      I'd be curious if these are his mixes but I think they are.

    The irony of Pro-MB is that I don't think most people realize it is an OUTSTANDING single band processor. For those who want a quick 'hack' -> load up the Basic -> "1 Full Band" preset, then you see that little down arrow to the top right of the output knob? Yeah I had no idea either, but that little arrow has a list of presets. Aggressive to Subtle Compression, transient shaping, gating, etc. Choose a preset then adjust the threshold! It's magical. Have fun!

    Really nice explanation! I just wish you'd let a few more seconds to appreciate the result of parameter changes before starting the next explanation...

    Learned a lot in this tutorial. It happens not often that I made a short transcription of it, but this time I did :-) THANKS!

    It's funny...I've never really considered using this as a multi and compressor in the literal sense over a drum bus...usually when I use this, it's as a way of subtly balancing out frequencies...that's actually what I've always used a multiband for...but the idea of treating it as a compressor for everything down by the kick, then everything up by the snare is actually pretty intriguing...the transparency of this plugin would make it perfect for stuff like that under certain circumstances

    what's the purpose of the range??? how is that any different than just setting your threshold to the proper setting to only have the amount of gain reduction you want???

    • @DanWorrall
      @DanWorrall 9 лет назад +5

      You can use the Range limit to compress just the middle of the dynamic range. If you raise the threshold instead you will be compressing just the top of the dynamic range.
