  • After about 5 months of cloud and snow, everything began to melt and the sun was glorious. I never expected to feel so overwhelmed and energised. In this video are a few if my own words but also a few beautiful words from The invitation by Oriah mountain dreamer.

    Now you can understand that we swedes change whenever the sun comes out. we come out of our hibernation and feel happy.

      The winters in northern Sweden makes one become a sun worshipper, I will never take the sun for granted as long as I live. The wonters feel so long and never ending and the sun so fleeting.

    It truly is amazing how much the sun positively impacts our mood and wellbeing. After winter I kept saying to my fiancé, I feel so happy for no particular reason. He reminded me that it's because the sun is shining again.

    You can see the wood of your steps! My first Alaskan winter was a complete culture shock, and I'll never forget the excitement I felt in my soul when my feet landed on something other than ice and snow. Who would have guessed something so small and insignificant would become a lifelong memory. Yes, we all tend to take so many things for granted. Recognizing this as a young person is such a valuable life tool.

    A very close friend and Brit suffered through our long dark winters for years before finally getting a light therapy lamp. It was life changing for her and is for so many others who struggle with the lack of light in a northern winter. I would say it is vital for a new comer to the frozen north. 💕

    That's the exact opposite from where i live.Here in the mediterranean we have sunshine for more than 300 days per year.I can't stand it.Every day is the same,bright light that blinds you and heat.It is depressing and monotone for me and for most of my friends.When we see clouds and rain,not to mention snowfall, we celebrate!!

  • @pjj5824
    @pjj5824 3 года назад +2

    Also, we shovel snow as it falls - it’s the best way to keep ahead of it. The spring snow is really heavy. The other issue is snow load on the roof - depending on your roof material- (steep metal roof is ok - flatter roof is more of a concern

    Naomi you are a strong person, both physically and more importantly mentally. It's not easy living in such a place but your positivity radiates. You are actually so positive I bet you are a goddess of Jupiter, a Sag, like I. So much wisdom you have young lady , I still insist, you would do very good podcasts especially on mental wellbeing. Sending warm hugs from Italy, here its spring, sunshine, light, warmth , flowers, bee's bussing, birds , its beautiful and I love it here, only when it's spring and summer 😄. I've lived here for 2 years coming from the warm coastal beaches of Kenya and I can tell you it was rough especially for the cold dark winters and socialising bit. 2 years opened up my mind and made me see life in a way I never thought I would. 2 years made me know myself, I'm 36 but I'd say the 2 years here amidst covid isolation, harsh winters, language barriers, lack of socialising made me stronger than I ever was. I see you have that too ,you came out stronger. Brava cara , keep up the good job and positivity 👏.

    The hare is a Mountain Hare but known as a Forrest Hare (Skogshare) in Sweden.
    You can tell because we only have two types of hares in Sweden and only the Mountain hare changes color in the winter. The other is the European Hare which is not native to Sweden but was introduced in the 17th century known as the Field Hare (Fälthare) in Sweden.
    I don't know if you like to hunt but the books used when you take your hunting licence in Sweden are excellent if you want to learn about wildlife in Sweden.
    They usually exist as audio books as well but are in Swedish. I personally have "Din väg till Jägarexamen".

    Naomi just a little tip when it snows before you go bed or anywhere just buy a few containers of cooking salt and sprinkle the steps or walk way and the snow will just melt away. Suppose you can also get the industrial salt that the government normally use on roads for the driveways etc.The cooking salt more accessible and cheaper too for the steps.

    • @Brassica_Periviridis
      @Brassica_Periviridis 3 года назад

      Gravel might be better for various reasons. Too much salt is not good for the plants in the garden and salt will not work when it is really really cold. :)

    I am watching this video today 21-06-2021. That is when the actual midsummer is. Depending on if you live above the arctic circle the sun never sets, for about a month or so. I too live in northern Sweden. Unfortunately, today was one of the rainiest day we have had and there was also some thunder and lightning. So no sun here. But in a way it´s great, it affects you stress hormones in your body. Because the sun shines night and day and your body can´t get used to it. You want to sleep bat can´t because of the light. If you don´t have a face mask or proper darkening shades. I know this by my own experience because the window in my bedroom is turned against the sun when it shines strongest in the night.

    I know that it's difficult work, but honestly you appear to be quite lazy and "can't do" much. It's obvious your husband doesn't mind working for you and that's so awesome...as he should be willing to do so. It'd be nice to see you do a bit more to assist him. Obviously, I'm on the outside and can only view what's shared.

      I am not sure what gave you the impression I am lazy and can’t do much. I would argue that’s far from the case. Yes hard labour is sometimes difficult for a petit 5.2ft person and so it’s great I have the support of a strong man to help when I can’t. Moreover in a relationship you find tasks and jobs that you like, my husband finds ploughing the drive cathartic so he does most of it, in a relationship you work together and compliment each other not all work has to be equal, you play to your strengths! You just have to watch the first 3 mins of our last video to know that I work very hard🥴. I am not sure what you expected as a reply from this comment or what your intention is. I think your analysis is very wrong. If you think I am lazy I think you’re blind and intentionally ignoring our stories as a whole. Finally yes you are on the outside please take into consideration that there are two people in the video if one person is doing something the other has to film. And when my husband is at work (mon to fri 10-6) I have no one to film me pulling logs or ploughing the drive or cooking and cleaning or working. So if you don’t like the videos and you want to see a woman doing more you are welcome to find another channel.

      @@NaomiandJackMy intentions certainly we're not to offend, they were made simply based off of observation. However after rereading my post, I can certainly see where you may have been offended, and for that I apologize. I was simply commenting based on the few videos I'd attempted to watch where you often complain about work. Agsin, I could only base my comment on what's shown in the videos. Best to you.
