Oh, this was another time. BTS were really gaining momentum over here in North America and this was the first time we saw their Fake Love performance, the first time a kpop act debuted a song on American tv for a major American awards show. The excitement was palpable, as you can see. The audience was basically all ARMY who went there just to see that performance. This was the second year they attended the BBMAs, but even the first time when they won the Top Social Artist award and didn't perform, ARMY filled up the venue just for a chance to see them there (and possibly win an unprecedented award for a kpop act). BTS mentioned how nervous they were going to an American awards show, but that the fans bolstered them. The crowd response got everyone asking who they were and spurred further interest in BTS. 7 or so years later and they're no longer considered a flash phenomenon, but a fixture in the global music landscape. It had me reflecting and feeling some type of way, especially as Jimin just won a daesang at MAMA today, the first soloist to win since 2014, and all while in the military. No one is ready for when BTS come back as a group in less than a year.
Are you surprised by the energy and admiration of the audience at the concert?! You haven't seen a BTS concert in Brazil yet. There, a huge stadium sang songs louder than the guys for two and a half hours. And even during short breaks (to wash, change clothes), the audience sang BTS songs one after another. I'll note a small nuance - they sang in Korean. Brazilians - in Korean!!! The guys have 3-4 songs in English. Watch this concert, you won't regret it. I cried from emotion.
As you know, BTS makes 'behind the scenes' Bangtan Bombs and Episodes for everything. Check out the Episode for this, you see the guys goofing around and the screams when they walk in. And of course JK eating! The rest of the celebs were shocked at the crowd.💜

You WILL BE blown away if you thought this performance was insane...check out MMA 2017, 2018, 2019, even 2020 is awesome during Covid when they could only do video performances. The mics being low is because in my opinion, US sound techs just don't understand the dynamics of a group that changes who is singing throughout the whole song. Therefore, they only concentrate on certain mics...I don't know! Loved your reaction!!
Did you see those clueless audience?. I think it's either they don't know who BTS is or don't care who BTS is before. They don't know what hit them 😅😂😂. Billboard published an article listing 13 best moments of the event. No doubt BTS performance was phenomenal that night but they choose Jungkook's abs flash as one of the best moment. I think a reporter brought that up in an interview with BTS and Jungkook chuckled shyly while answering to the reporter, it's funny🤣. I don't think he expected that.
We were so pissed at BBMA for showing the crowd 60% of the performance. We also put BBMAs through the ringer for crappy mics and crappy filming. There are better award show performances out there.
