I think Lizardfolk would have music, there are practical uses of it for D&D. Any race that does not have written history is likely to use songs/chants to record their traditions. Magic rituals might use music. Drums for communication across difficult terrain. etc.
Karagianis Works especially well if the lizardfolk live in a "prehistoric" area. Parasaurolophus skulls would make cool horns or bugles. Pacepholosaurus skulls make cool pauldrons, and also some metal looking drums.

Soon after my character was run off due to a Lizardfolk king, my character told a town that had within the last three years begun to trade with the nearby jungle dwelling Lizardfolk, that this happened. And my character being curious decided to learn about various topics including the arcane.
lizardfolk are so much fun to roleplay. The eating habits of my lizardfolk character brough our table many funny moments. Our DM started to thorw random animals in our way just so my lizardfolk could chase it. One time it was a pig that my party befriended before before i joined them. In the end my Lizardfolk drag a gnome and a tiefling after him because they tried to stop him eating the pig.
When he said lizard folk character and tiefling I remembered, in my campaign I play a lizard folk barbarian (with a soul) and my friend played a teifling warlock, crazy right?
Lizardfolk do have an origin myth, though. The race is actually the descendants of one of their gods, who split into several lizardfolk by thinking too hard. That's why they are wary of intelligence.
so glad you guys made these awesome videos covering races. this was the first video i found from you guys and I've absolutely loved everything you've done since!💚🐊
The lizardfolk I'm getting ready to play is a wild magic sorcerer whose wild magic caused a unicorn to appear, and after talking to it formed a Celestial warlock pact with the Unicorn that gave them the emotions of happiness and joy on a muted level. It also turned a good portion of their scales white. They had been on a scouting and hunting mission searching for humans to bring back to the leader, and through the unicorn's influence realized their leader was actually a corrupted Lizard King, and would likely kill them on sight for their good influence that would conflict with the king's evil aims, and the white scales not only were impractical for hunting and survival, but would be seen as blasphemous by the rest of the tribe. With no choice left to them they had to set out alone and try to survive any way they could, eventually making their way towards and slowly integrating with civilization and finding a new tribe in their adventuring party.
Lizardfolk are very focused on customs as well. One of the ways to teach a Lizardfolk not to eat people, is to tell them that it is a custom to bury the dead. They don’t understand the custom but they do accept customs of others.
ye, I have a Lizardfolk ranger make friend with a Half-Elf druid and he Half-Elf explained to him that most others respect their dead and tell him that the dead provide nutrients for the dirt witch makes plants grow better, even telling the Lizardfolk that his tribe bury their dead with seeds like apple seeds so that apple trees grow so in a way, the dead provide for the living, and the Lizardfolk responds with "This is been logical, but do you be burying all dead?" and the Half-elf is like "No, we only bury our friends and family, any enemies that die, we just loot the bodies and leave them to natures, so if we kill any bandits or anything, help yourself." "I is liking yours customs."

The lizardfolk are on a tie with the simic hybrid as my favourite race ?.. species?...thing you can play as. I have though of many possible ideas for lizardfolk player character. I tend to make them casters for the benefits of natural armour, but martials are also a good idea. As for the rage of barbarians, you could reflavour it as hunting instinct. Now I'm thinking of a Lizardfolk Barbarian who fancies himself a bard because he once saw a snake charmer followed by a bard seducing a villain and once heard that music can sooth the savage beast. As a result of this he attempts to play a song before killing his enemies believing that his music made the kill easier.
I ran a Druid Lizardboi with a pet deinonychus who basically had a caveman dialect and voice. Oddly one of my most fun concepts. Long into the campaign, he ended up getting intelligent enough to speak clearly, and lived as a bestiary maker and animal lover. One of my favorite characters to play through. Lost his dino though :(
I know this is a six-year-old episode and opinions have probably changed since then, but I definitely don’t think that giving the players a choice of two skills is lazy design. In fact, later in the episode the lizard folk artificer story is the perfect example of why not. Why would a lizard raised by a wizard, have proficiency in survival or nature? Of course they wouldn’t and the player should be allowed to pick two skills that they desire.
Lizardfolk are a very powerful race, but they definitely make me feel the powercreep. Not as bad as the asimar, but with all those features I feel they don't need the extra skills. For balance sake they make the dragonborn seem very weak in comparison.
That has more to do with the fact that Dragonborn are by far the weakest race in the game, dragonborn are very weak compared to any other race in the phb. Lizardfolk do need the skills because they don't get much anything else. Literally the only other racial ability they have that is generally useful is the bonus action bite once per rest, and perhaps swim speed if your in a campaign that involves lot of water stuff. The natural armor only does anything if your playing a class that doesn't have medium armor or better (and isn't a monk since your monk would probably get same bonus from their wisdom anyways) as it doesn't stack with unarmored defense, and the regular bite attack is only useful if you don't already have a better weapon, which, if your wanting to hit people in melee, you probably do.
Never had a LF PC in a campaign, as DM or player. Mostly because our monster's campaigns were actually small monsters' campaign and LF aren't tiny, or everyone was the same race and it wasn't a LF one. It would be great to make a LF city/civilization in a campaign where if you die in the city you become food for the poor (or their version of poor which is starving and unable to feed oneself.) It would be great if a PC dies and having the players argue their right to the body (for resurrection) and the "mayor" arguing back. "was he your slave? If not, if you didn't owned him in life you don't own his body." And having them not have written law because they are all cold and logic so they need no written law, and instead of lawyers learning a legal code they just learn past rulings to attune themselves better to what's the "logical decision".
Hey guys can you do a video on party NPCs and how to use them, I’ve seen a couple of videos on the topic but I don’t feel a lot of them go into a lot of depth or their making points I don’t personally agree with like “Your NPC better be a mute heal bot or you’re clearly making a DMPC”

+Inquisitor Thomas I also dont agree with that statement. We will eventually do an episode on this topic but we have many episodes scheduled before we get to it.
I disagree with your opinion on proficiencies. The racial proficiencies aren't usually genetic, they are usually cultural/background oriented.
Definitely agree, I much prefer having a choice than being shoehorned into specific ones.
ya, draw back to natural armor + unarmored combat. rules as written says you pick one or the other. you don't get to overlap them.
Just subbed and they drop a video on me. Huh...
*Timing!*
And how I love you.
So I’m playing as a Lizarfolk and I drew it while looking at Dragonborn pictures. When I brought him in my friends said “Ooh a dragonborne?” And I just looked at it and frowned and just said, “Meh, he’s insane so he might be but he says lizard soo”
Yea you can roleplay as a lizardfolk... as long as they abandon the party whenever they come up against anything like a dragon or beholder. Cuz adventuring is the opposite of survival
Lizard folk are just poor Dragonborn.
Hey man, lay off the F-words
22:00 "Mum said it's my turn on the lizardfolk" "No! I'm not done with um yet >~
