The protesters said they were gonna occupy campus, including people who were not affiliated with UT. That's a disruption to kids that dont give af about the protest and just want to learn. Glad they took care of them

It's particularly disheartening to see colleges and universities, which are supposed to be bastions of free speech and intellectual freedom, resorting to police intimidation and other forms of repression to stifle dissent and suppress student activism.
This not only violates the principles of academic freedom and democratic governance, but it also sends a chilling message to students and faculty members who may be afraid to speak out or engage in political organizing.
I was a part of the protests at UT in the ‘80s against apartheid, demanding that UT divest from South Africa. It was a seminal part of my education, as I learned a lot about the power of using my voice in unity with others to effect change. I also learned a lot about being responsible for my actions when practicing civil disobedience - which has been a proud American tradition since before the Revolutionary War. I’m proud of these kids and their choice to take a stand. I hope they learn as much from this as I did.

This is very different. I know Jewish student who are laying low and in fear of being attacked and others who have been harassed for being Jewish. There’s a very dark underside to what’s happening on the surface. There were and are a lot of atrocities on both sides in the Middle East. And to pick a side is like the pot calling the kettle black. These kids are Tools (SJWs) who are throwing a temper tantrum - contributing to the problem rather than truly seeking a solution.

I, too, took part in the protest against apartheid in South Africa however that protest was based on truth, not lies, we did not call for the death of white South Africans, and we did not engage in violence or interfere in the rights and privileges of others. We did not have someone paying us to protest, and we did not identify with a group of terrorists that raped women and killed children. We had a moral compass still attached however it seems that if you had one, you lost it over the years since you think these protests have anything in common or to be proud of antisemitic adults.

It was about the importance and instructional value of allowing young people to have a voice and to engage in social activism, especially at university. In this country, we shouldn’t use police or military powers to shut down expression with which we disagree just because it makes us uncomfortable or we think someone else lacks our superior “moral compass.” When we do, we end up with tragedies like the one at Kent State.

I think the college has a right to expect certain behavior on their campus. If something happens to a student the college can be made liable in some instances

@@TheForever206 2019 Texas passed a law that re-stated that it's college campuses are free speech zones. By law, anyone can hold a protest there and you don't need to be a student or staff.

If they wanted real peace they could have had it, but I think Israeli attitudes have hardened too since the intifadas started years ago.
