Thanks for the vid, Omar! Interesting updates! My original printing of this omni doesn't have the gold text on the spine or on the cover under the dust jacket. Also no Timely logo on the back cover. Inside front cover and inside back cover pages are stone gray, not the gold pages in this new version. Seems like Marvel has refined how they want to present these Golden Age books- but I still love my original edition! Bring on Vol. 2!

Thanks Omar. Really good overview, I'm glad they included the backup stories of other characters. Not sure if I'll get it as I don't think I should also get sucked down the golden age rabbit hole as well! I enjoyed the Thor pop-up!

I would love to see a lot more omnis of GA material published or will it just fade away as with the GA Masterworks / Atlas Masterworks ? I guess if people keep buying them but so much material of the Golden Age has yet to put into any modern format

I wish DC would come out with the "Detective Comics Before Batman" double volume set... they cancelled under pressure from Twitter comments about depictions of people. It's a historical document. Look at the way the Japanese drew whites and blacks back in the day. Literal demons. Anyway, I'm picking this up! Great comic and good insight into a historical period, for all the good and bad.
I finally broke down and bought an omnibus. I'm not a fan of the format or the price, but it was the way I was going to get the Golden Age Captain America early issues. I just wish Marvel would do more in the way rereleasing their 1940-1961 back issues as trades. I would even collect Millie The Model if I could.

It seems that article interviewing Joe Simon's daughter is not in the original Omnibus from 2014 along with a few covers. There are also some minor cosmetic differences from 7 years ago on the hardback itself as well as the endpapers. Just out of interest where else can that article be found?
Most likely on the Marvel Masterworks. I notice the missing article and covers as well.

Always love how it says Volume 2 No 1 for the first issue of CA, must admit I have always felt that the first issue was the Red Raven issue ... though I know that is not the accepted view. Or was there a issue 1 volume 1 that we never got to see such as an ashcan ? Or just a mistake ? Great review as ever, always a pleasure to watch. Pre-ordered this volume already, even though the stories have been collected to death, it is nice to see them in omni. Looking forward to many more GA omnis (vol 2 !) and hopefully some more Atlas ones (Venus would be great to finish off that series)
Been interested in golden age matieral 🔥🔥🔥 fun fact Stan Lee is the one who made cap's shield from the triangle to the circular shield. He changed in the 3rd issue and I believe he said he thought it was impractical for Cap to throw around a triangular shield and have it come back to him and stuff so he changed it to the rounder, more iconic shield we know today. Still love both shields tho lol.

I have the original printing of this, and I probably will have to get the second volume when it comes out.
I picked up the original printing in new condition at substantial discount in a sale, so although there's some extra material in this new printing, I will stick with the one I have.

The Hurricane character would be retconned as an alias of Makkari (of the Eternals)
How does the art restoration compare with the Masterworks? I am having trouble justifying a double dip here.

Have the Timely book so this almost feels like double-dipping. Since this includes material not collected therein, I may just get this. Huge fan of Golden Age comics; and i like how Corey maps omnis. Will depend on my budget once it comes out.

I'm a huge fan of Cap but this book looks to be only 25% Captain America and the rest being other stories in the anthology comic. I'm hoping for something with just the golden age cap stories.

They’re killing me with the Gold lettering on the spine. I have a first printing which has white lettering and I’m sure that volume 2 is going to have gold lettering and won’t match up
I think of that when I see a new printing of Wolverine or New Warriors. :)
i wish my views of old cap comics could be more positive but i really just don't think they aged as well as a lot of the other comics from that era
