Thank you Josh for your time speaking today and for agreeing to send this card back to us for further inspection. As we discussed, this outlier case will be a very valuable data point for us as the defect you pointed out was right on the NHOD threshold (non human observable defect), and as you noted in the video, it can indeed be seen. We've processed many, many, cards with similar surface defects that are noted in the DIG Report. In fact, the majority of the critical feedback we receive on surface detection is the opposite scenario where people say, "TAG should be less strict... I don't see it." We pride ourselves on detecting dents that might be missed by other manual grading companies. While we aim to never make a mistake, we understand it's not possible, and that it is better to own up to them when they are made. By understanding outlier examples like this, we can continue refining our sensitivities for the overall improvement of the system. As we discussed, the certification has been deactivated pending further inspection. At TAG, we are committed to maintaining integrity and fairness within the hobby; while we're pleased you had a positive overall experience, it's crucial to ensure equitable treatment for all TAG users by acknowledging and correcting any errors. We greatly appreciate all feedback, both positive and negative, as it drives our continuous improvement. We are truly thankful for your willingness to help us enhance our processes, and remain steadfast in our mission to bring accurate and consistent grading to every collector!
crazy cool card, doesn't matter the case or number associated! Investments in automated grading with image detection algorithms, no matter how good, are clearly not quite the whole story. One thing that TAG and similar companies will have to grapple with is the optics side of the equation (as apposed to image processing/grading). One under appreciated benefit of a human grader is the continuous optical image at an infinite number of angles that can be displayed on the grader's retina, and with such diversity of cards (with various contours and textures to produce diffuse reflections, holofoils with various absorbance and reflection patterns, etc) it is not so easy a mountain to climb. For example, from seeing the ding on that part of the card with that type of holofoil, its entirely possible an identical blemish on a different card would grade differently (not knowing exactly how the image processing works). All this said its definitely a worthwhile pursuit and I look forward to see how the technology continues to tackle this much more difficult side of the grading equation!
Would never send any expensive cards to a new grader like TAG. Personal preference. Also knowing my card has some damage but the slab says 10 would bother me
Slabs sick! I do like it. I like that they are actually doing things to differentiate themselves. As for your card i think the lesson here is if at first you dont succeed damage it and try again! 😂
So you damaged it and we know it shouldnt be a 10, but we're still happy with the grading company giving it a 10? This screams a big nope to TAG if we needed any more
Yeah I have a Zapdos 10 collection and this is one of the more expensive cards and I never planned to replace it with a real 10 so the fact that I could swap it from a 7.5 is insane for my OCD lmao
Great slab, thanks for reviewing Tag for us. Looks great to me, if cards are for your own collection, and not for trading, dont see why not to grade with diffrenet companies. ARS is next ?
Jon thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment. I'm not an ARS fan as they do not consider centering when grading. EYE appeal is big for me.
I’m grading with precision grade right now but I kinda like the tag I like different things and precision grade offers custom labels that’s why I grade with them but I like the label less look with the tag company as well pretty sick card man I’ll probably never own any card from the creatures deck I feel like it’s just to much for me plus I feel like it’s kinda hard to even find any raw cards of it
I was talking with a friend the other day about TAG. I thought that the Illustrator that they gave a 10 was just a little bit suspect. 995 out of 1000. 🤔🤔🤔🤔 (I’m keeping my original comment here, however it appears I read the grade on TAGs site incorrectly when I said it was a 995 out of 1000. It is in fact 955 out of 1000)
Yea just RANDOMLY one of the “best best” copies ever is found and graded with TAG? No chance lol I’ve heard good things about the case clarity and alll but I’d take their credibility with a grain of salt
@ClaysCollectibles It helps when you know who owns the best Illustrator in the world. Called him and convinced him to submit it. Card wasn't a 995, it was like a 960. Not perfect, but solid grade. Several million dollar card imo.
@@GemMintPokemon very interesting if lets say that really is the best card in the world, that that copy isn’t sent to BGS Psa or even CGC who have established credibility. Calling BS on that copy being that high and not being a previous psa or BGS lower grade Just my opinion tho, doesn’t make sense.
How the fack does this company work? I can’t figure it online. Do I have to order the grading kit before sending the submission out? The website isn’t as clear as PSA bgs cgc where it’s simple to submit cards.
@@dagreenshizand then they mail out the grading kit? I believe that was my understanding of the process online. Can you skip that part and just mail in the cards you want graded?
You choose how many cards you want and pay for it first, and then you select your cards you want to submit. You can order a submission kit they send to you and then you send you cards back in the kit. Or just send directly to them after you've picked your cards.
No offense, but this video doesn't exactly instill confidence in TAG as a grading company. I'd actually say it does the exact opposite of that. The card is straight up damaged, CGC gave it a 7.5 and yet TAG gives it a 10? The fact that they're supposedly extremely thorough when evaluating cards makes it even worse. Otherwise you could at least give them the benefit of the doubt by saying the grader must have missed the damage. Now we have to assume they knew the damage was there and gave it a 10 anyway.
asking in good faith here, but does it really affect your confidence when the big 3 have haid similar F ups? and keep in mind not all of them are publicized, and TAG reached out to try to make things right. You gotta keep in mind CGC gave this a 9.5 at first, then PSA gave it a 9, then CGC walked it back (I know it's probably years later and different grader TBF) to a 7.5? the big 3 make lots of mistakes too, TAG isn't perfect by any means but they're objectively the most transparent company in the entire industry, and I haven't even ordered anything from them so it's not like I have a horse in this race I just think people put way too much value/trust on the big 3 when they're just a grading company like the others, they make mistakes.
@@whatevername6553 *"You gotta keep in mind CGC gave this a 9.5 at first, then PSA gave it a 9"* The card got those grades BEFORE he damaged it by cracking it out of the case. The second time he submitted the card was AFTER he damaged it. Of course it got a lower grade the second time... because it was DAMAGED.
Sorry in advance for the negative take. I wish people would just accept the grades they get. This company swapping/re-grading cycle is such a cringe part of the hobby. I know it’s just part of the game, and I don’t blame people for taking free 10s where they can get them. I just kind of wish it wasn’t how things went.
Definitely agree. Especially when it's just to try and get .5 of a grade up. Maybe if it's a very obvious error, I get it but just to chase a slightly higher grade is a bit strange
GREENY single handedly shat all over TAGS 1k point scale and proved that it's bogus. He bout to see a Deactivated Cert and a Slap Lawsuit for defamation😅

How do we know it's a 10? Cuz tag effing said so!

Much appreciated thanks

I do like it!
That slab is crispy clean! Not gonna lie, probably the best slab design I’ve ever seen. Really interested in seeing the future of TAG.
