Smythesdale Free Camping / RV Friendly Town Victoria / Vanlife Australia / Caravanning Australia

In this episode, we travel in our converted Ford Transit campervan, with our dog, to Smythesdale, Victoria, Australia. We camped at the RV-friendly Smythesdale Gardens pet-friendly camping spot, which I show you around in this episode. Smythesdale is located on the Glenelg Highway 135 kilometers west of the state capital, Melbourne. The town was established during the Victorian Gold Rush. We found the Smythesdale Gardens camping area a great spot for a couple nights. You’re welcome to stay up to three nights, where donations are welcomed. There are toilets (and showers by donation). The camping spot is a 10-minute walk from town.

We checked out the main strip of shops, bought some vintage wares and met some friendly locals. For meals, we enjoyed some On Track Meals one night and some summer salads and coal-smoked chicken for our second night.

Each On Track Meal is one single serve of protein, allowing the individual to decide whether to eat it with pasta, rice, wraps, straight out of the packet or any other way they choose. Being a ‘ready to eat’ meal means you do not need to add any water or wait for rehydration. Meals are not dehydrated or freeze-dried. With a 2 year shelf life from manufacturing, these meals can be used in any situation where refrigeration is not possible such as outdoor pursuits, 4wding, boating or to have at home in the cupboard. These are locally made in and distributed from Brisbane.
