War Thunder is a next generation MMO combat game dedicated to World War II military aviation, armored vehicles, and fleets.
Special thanks to my son, who is the BF109 pilot for most of this video. I could not have made it without him. My other son also helped with line selection and previewing. It was a blast making the vid with them.

i did a dogfight with a p38 i flipped my plane and hit him from the muddle so he burned out
Sadly that P38 is not so effective in War Thunder as it looks here

@I Hate Pringle Cans They're accurate. Not as nimble but they're good if you know how to use 'em. They used to do like Zeroes would against the wildcat. They'd fly straight up and the enemy would stall out and you could flip over and snatch em

You let your five year old kid watch a video in which a load of people get hurt and die - even if just implied by planes going down in blazes of fire - and that is about a war that has brought so much death, destruction and unbelievable atrocities to humanity. Gamevid4 my 5 year old little brother loves this vid, I let him play what is basically a mobile War Thunder, Wings of Duty. Its just as realistic, historical, and has planes, tanks, and boats all in the same match! Paid $5.00 for an Ace P-38, and was not dissappointed ! Thank you for the amazing video!

Of all the War Thunder Fan Videos, this one is by far, head and shoulders above the rest. It not only has movie quality action but has a story line, characters to root for or boo against. As a person that has written Fan Fiction for other MMO's I find this refreshing to see the detail and work put into it!

I still remember as a kid always wanting to play war thunder after I watched this
And then you play it and you get blown up by a plane you never saw from a kilometer away lol
I absolutely adored this it got my adrenaline pumping (esp. the last 3-4 mins) the only thing I noticed that I could have wished for is just add a couple decals on the main planes (Ben's P-38 and the last enemy Bf-109 and maybe the P-38s who saved Ben in the beginning) just so the pilots and the planes had more of a character. For example, if you put a nose art on them or a victory mark or a inscription or something historical to make it look like the planes fighting mainly weren't just some random Bf 109 or P-38.
Overall, excellent work on this my friend and you deserve the 133,000 views and 2,300 likes.
P.S.: I don't even know what to say to anyone who disliked this, oh well I guess we all have our own opinions :L

One interesting way to get out of a dive is to turn off your throttle because that will speed you up towards the ground, turn on your air breaks because the dive is causing you to gain speed, and use the rudder and spin the plane as slowly as possible. It will pull you out of your dive. Ive gone into a dive in the PBY-5a as I was rolling to my left and got my engine knocked out. I lost control as I plummeted to the ground, but used these tips (didn't have air-breaks so it was harder to stay at a speed where my plane didnt rip apart.) and i was able to turn using my rudder and rolled until my plane was level. I made it back to base for repairs.
This film made me think...can something be better than this....i must make it...this was first film i ever watched in war thunder and i still love it :) Now i am makeing my own film for year and a half and i would like to thank you for inspiration :)

yes, this was the 1st war Thunder movie I've seen
4:00 That part is based on a real event a P-38 pilot had to do. His plane was diving to the ground and he lost control, at the last second he pulled up but then found a 109 on his tail when he was headed back to the airfield.
Or purely coincidence.

Funfact: All P-38 Lightnings in the European theatre were shot down. The Germans referred to it as the "Fork-Tailed Devil" due to it's high speed, maneuverability, and armerment

that move where ben got behind that last 109 clearly shows this was in arcade mode, with how bad he was shot and and the p-38s low manuverability that would of been inpossible
Paweł Bednarek it was way less manuverable than the BF 109. It was too heavy and would have broken into parts in reality.

Despite my German ethnicity I would have fought for the allies back then. However the amount of British and American patriotism that is put into this stuff is ridiculous and unwanted. There are no rights and wrongs in war.
If it had not already been recreated to perfection by Nassault, I would have made a video about my favorite moment in the entire war. The story of Franz Stigler and his act of mercy and heroism is unsurpassed. If you have not seen Nassault's Stigler video it is a work of art. Every time I watch it I shed a tear...no joke.

first JET FIGHTER was developed and builed by germans 1944 or 1945 not sure by the ebd of WW2
It was built with piston engines in 1941 and jet engines in 1942 but wasn't introduced until mid 1944.
Actually the Germans had a jet called the Heinkel 178 in 1939. It wasn't used as a fighter, but it is extremely important to the development of jet fighters. The first operational jet fighter was the Me 262 "Shwalbe" (Swallow in English) and was used by Germany in WW2. It was first used on July 26, 1944 where it damaged a British Mosquito.
The german voice actor did an amazing job he really brought the role to life ;)

On ultra high settings but rainy weather scenarios do not look as good as sunny from a graphical standpoint. Try watching on 1080p as well.

fake story BF-109 vs P-38c = BF winner in real story
Well actually, stat wise, yes, but in an actual WWII scenario, especially in the stormy conditions depicted, the BF109 would take massive hits from the wind, and it would be impossible for it to aim. This wouldn't be true for the P-38, as it is much heavier and more responsive.

That was one of the best war thunder videos I've seen, great job.
One of the pluses of having a large maneuverable aircraft is that the damage is spread over a wider area in comparison to smaller fighter, the P-38 could take far more hits (as long as its not hitting modules of importance). Don't put all your eggs in one basket as they say.
A P-38 should be an easy mark for a Bf 109. No contest in a dogfight.
Comes down to the pilot. German pilots reported being out turned by P-38s

That's the point, the control surfaces of the aircraft are limited when at higher altitudes with a plane like the P-38, its unlikely that he would ever get his engine running again at high altitude, the denser air helped get it started.

this pilot was smart, he actually LED his target when shooting so that way the bullets hit the target, no offense to anyone
The New Star Wars CG movie had me thinking of this, hasn't aged very well, but its also 7 years old so what can I expect lol, still love it, even if it's totally movie action.

Great video man. I love the story of it. Amazing how you got that P-38 to take a beating, I fly any of my US planes and with the slightest touch of a bullet, it goes down, hell even the wind kills me.

That BF-109 that chases the p-38 in low altitude could've have ended it already long ago, this video represents 109 pilots as beginners, don't forget the best pilot in the world flew a 109

Well counted on plane kills and losses german pilots were some of the best and also their planes. Get your facts they only lost becaue they had to fight russia and the allies at the same time and were TOTALLY i mean TOTALLY outnumbered and couldnt mobilize enough rescources and pilots. The p38 was a 1943 plane. So what in 1943 they had fw190' me109G' and even me163's and 262's since 1941!!

the part where the p38 was in a uncontrollable dive and pulling out just feet before crashing is a great reference to Colonel Robin Olds which where I assume you got the idea for that particular part, those who don't know what I'm talking about watch The series dog fights Robin olds
