My corgi went ballistic when I used the blow dryer or the vacuum cleaner. We settled on never using them except when my husband took the dog on a walk and I would stay home and vacuum. Also he was a brat for the first 4 years, clinging to my shoes with his teeth as part of herding me. When he got older he stopped being such a brat herding-wise and became the light of our lives. We had the blessing of having him for 12 years. If I had it to do over I would suffer again through the brattiness. I miss that little guy so much.

Thank you for taking the time to share. With G, he was probably the most challenging in his first 2 years but he’s been a delight. He’s not perfect but I love and cherish every moment I have with him. He’s already 8 so I’m constantly reminded of his mortality. Each day is a blessing! Thanks again for sharing!

Re: the Hair - When my mother called & asked what we were having for Christmas dinner, I told her "Roast beef, mashed potatoes, peas and dog hair." She understood completely.

I’ve had 2 corgis and here is what I’ve learned. Corgis are in complete control at all times. They will humor you as you say “sit” and other commands. They think this is very funny watching the human talk these commands. Notice how big they smile. For instance the “stay” game. They watch their human walk away. How far will she go, he thinks…maybe she will go further, further. It’s great fun for them to watch you traipse off to far locations. They aren’t “staying” they are watching you look silly! Every minute of your day will be sabotaged, with attempts to get your attention. Their cleverness is off the charts. I could go on, but it would take pages!!!

Our corgi will bark non stop until you great the returning family member, car ride time, or USPS/Amazon/UPS/FedEx delivery. She also will give a sharp bark if we go upstairs at night but haven't turned off the lights. Her bed time is apparently our bed time too. LOL. Although she has more vocalizations than our first corgi, she is also more cuddly.

I take Missy to the groomer about 4 times a year. Sometimes more. We limit her treats to one a week if she is really good. She usually listens to me pretty good, unless she gives me the corgi cuteness overload. I see that your corgi can give the same look. But I still love them.

Thanks Joan for crossing over from IG here onto RUclips! Appreciate your comments and thanks for sharing! We probably also take G to the groomers four - six times a year depending on how active we are. Sometimes, if we find G excessively getting dirty for example at corgi beach day, we’ll definitely need to send him there earlier than scheduled. For the most part, I try to limit G’s food as his treat but recently he’s been getting more table scraps because of Baby B. Also, I’ll give him a dog treat if I know we’ll be leaving him home alone a little longer. Thanks again for sharing!

The hair thing. Shelby really does not shed that much. I brush him with a soft plastic flat hand brush every night. They have two layers of coat. The under coat does not seem to pull out one the outer coat once light pressure brushed.
He is not the super fluffy type so I can’t speak for them.

That’s probably the key. Gotta brush more frequently so that it ends up in the trash before everywhere else. Literally there is a pile a fur every time I pet Gandalf.

Great information and Whatever you said, each n every piece of it stands true. I was so mesmerised by the corgi personality that i had to have one. But yes, with him came along n number of things which are really difficult to handle.. at times he is too cute and some times he shows you stars😂 unnecessary barking, constant nipping, great amount of shedding, and food motivation..
Each of it stands hands on true🙈

My corgi is super independent. He only really enjoys cuddles on his terms - when sick, first thing in the morning, and after an extended play session. If I pet him for too long, he gets up and moves a few steps away.
