- In this episode, we review the Jackery Explorer 1000 solar generator. In one word, “Wow!” This lithium battery power center is a game changer for camping. We’ve brewed coffee, made ice, charged a drone, ran lights, and the list will continue to grow! The capabilities are virtually endless. With two 100 watt foldable solar panels (200 watts total), the Jackery can go for days and days on end. Although we’ll be using the Jackery with our DIY teardrop camper, we also plan to use it with our larger travel trailer while boon docking. Oh, and did we mention how handy it will be during power outages? We look forward to many great adventures with the Jackery.

Very good review. Need to convince my husband to buy one😊
Waw cool thank you very much good idea
We have the SAME coffee maker! This is GREAT to see that we can use it to make coffee!
Those little $20 K-Cup brewers are great!
@@CampandCamera we originally bought it for our travel trailer that is in a permanent spot. I found a fancy Keurig on sale for $49 and bought it. Brand snobbery and all, you know 😀. Used it, didn’t like it, returned it. Bought another $20 machine for the pop up camper to travel! Thanks for your awesome videos. We are in SWVA and I love hearing you guys. You sound like us!
Southern accents are a gift in my opinion! Hey, you’re not too far from us. We’re thinking of heading that direction in a week or two for a fall leaf drive.
Awesome review.
Thank you!
I love it! $1500 is a little more than I’d like to to spend but I feel it’s worth the money. I have a 1000 watt Honda generator but hate listening to it even muffled and at a distance. This type of power supply is appealing to me because of the silence and i need my coffee!
We are very happy with it.
@@CampandCamera we’re getting something like if not this!
I really enjoyed this video, I’m one of those that’s intimidated by solar power ,inverters, converters and what have you I truly believe for someone like me the Jackery 1000 is the way to go, thanks a lot for your very informative and enjoyable videos
Hey, you bet!
Also, if you use this Amazon link, they currently have a $350 coupon you can use. amzn.to/3uP2tps
This is so nice of Jackery and of you to demonstrate the 1000. We bought the 1000 when it was on sale last fall. In upstate NY, our power can go out with a good wind, rain or snowstorm, so having a reliable power source like the 1000 is important to us. While cleaning out our basement, I found my little 4-cup Cuisinart coffee maker with a stainless carafe that I used to use at work. I thought, if this thing still works, I’ll use it for camping, especially if the wattage is low enough... Sure enough, it is only 550 watts and it’s so great knowing that if our power goes out or when we are camping without shore power, we’re all set for coffee. I’m glad to see that the Jackery only lost a little battery power, after making your coffee. Coffee is that important LoL. Thank you, Michael for a great demonstration! Jackery made the right decision to have you review the 1000. Many blessings to you and Joanna. ~ Maria
Hey there! It’s so handy being able to make coffee and ice with a portable unit. Safe travels to you both.
Great review, impressive piece of equipment.
It’s is indeed! Thanks so much for watching!
Thank you for another great review!!!
It’s my pleasure friend!
Damn...the tests you did are real-world and practical. As always just so helpful. Thanks yet again.
Thank you!!
Don’t know wether or not you will see this comment few years later, but what I would really like to know is how this unit has held up after some some time on it and what you think about it now. Reason I ask is , I have been interested in one of these but read somewhere the longer term battery life seemed a little short.
Funny you should leave this comment when you did. I actually used it last night to run my cpap during a power outage. So far I’ve been quite happy with it.
Any idea of battery life, is battery replaceable or do you buy a whole new unit If it goes out. These aren’t cheap . I’m starting an overland type build and have decided I would Prefer to just go with something like this instead of a whole built in electrical system and battery…but want something I can get my money out of . @@CampandCamera
Sounds like a very useful product. I think the battery technology has improved significantly since I tested a similar product and solar years ago.
These new lithium batteries really changed everything. I’ve been flying them in RC airplanes for a few years now and have all but stopped flying gas.
This is awesome. I’m obsessed with plugging things in and watching the watts. It is fun for off grid workshops or cabins, too! If my smaller unit ever gives out, I’ll get this one!
I’m really digging this thing!!
Really enjoyed the review . You continue to put out great content !
Thanks so much!
Great review, once again. Versatility is the name of the game for the Jackery.
It sure is. Thank you!
If ya'll want to go down a deep rabbit hole ..."Will Prowse" on you-tube is a solar genius & gets down to the nitty gritty on this unit. The only complaint if heard on this unit Is the non folding handle. Overlanders cant stack anything on top of this unit like the Goal zero( charges faster too). Depends if you stay on the move or are stationary for days. Thanks for your review!
He has a great channel.
Jackery is awesome. Great video too Michael!
Thanks so much Ed!
Good video Michael. I agree that for many teardrop builders an all in one solar generator can be all you need. In fact I’m having a teardrop built by Rustic Trail Teardrops and I’m using the Bluetti AC200P for all my power needs and will have 400 watts of solar panels on the roof which I will be able to tilt for better sun exposure.
That will be a nice setup! Rustic Trail makes a nice looking teardrop in my opinion.
Thanks for the review, I've been thinking about get that set up.
Thanks for watching.
Very informative, Thanks!
You bet!
Sadly it doesn't use a Lipo4 battery so it only has 500 charge cycles. That was a deal breaker for me.
Great review! Also love that ice maker. We have the same ice maker too - its great! Thank you for sharing and be safe.
Thank you!
Nice little unit.
We've had a Jackery 500 for our cargo trailer conversion for 18 months. Absolutely fantastic. I'm VERY knowledgeable about electronics and power ( ET1 USN ) and went with the Jackery because of its simplicity. We're just now putting solar on the trailer, and it'll be fully self-contained. We managed to wire the trailer completely without having to open the walls. The fan was already installed. People say that there's not enough AC in the '500 - but how many plugs do you need in a 5'x10' cargo trailer, anyway?
Exactly!
Good video my friend. That thing is pretty cool.
Thanks man!
Hi from the UK I have a early UK spec Explorer 500 that I bought off amazon but unfortunately its burnt out after only one year and the jackery 2year warranty doesn't seem to be worth the paper its written on as they are doing there best to dodge my claim.
Thank you I am trying to learn how to incorporate solar for our 1996 Chevy Coachman class B we are full-time in it and right now we run a predator 3500 inverter generator 24/ 7
That sounds like a really cool project. Solar would be a perfect solution for you. A couple suggestions, check out the channel “RV with Tito DIY.” I think he covers the basics of just that. I also think “All About RV’s” did some videos in it. I did one myself, but it was for a teardrop camper, so it was a smaller install. Good luck!!!
I love how it runs my refrigerator and charges up at the same time and I get free power
ok that jakery is cool but that mixed with the ice maker making ice in 6 mins that's awesome lol!
I know! That was so neat being able to do that! Heck, I’d make ice even if I didn’t need it just to watch it happen.
I Love It Great Video
Thank you!!
How much is the whole kit
Normally, this kit is around $1,500. However, Jackery is running a 3 day sale right now.
So do you think this can be a viable replacement to a full electrical system if you don't need much power?
I do if power requirements are minimal. If you’re off the grid, you will need sun to recharge it though.
@@CampandCamera Or have a Prius do it for you..... :). I Prius camp and love this system.
Don’t feel bad about using your platform how you want to. Nothing wrong with doing a review. I personally bought a blueetti because it fit my needs and budget
Thanks for saying that.
Did you pay for it???
Did you not watch the video?
Does the Jackery power off the AC output...every 6 hours or so?
I don’t know. I’ve not used the AC for periods that long.
Great review, I just subscribed to your channel can't believe I have not yet. Question,......My new camper(OffGrid Trailer) gets delivered next month, I order it with a Xantrex 2000 watt inverter. Do you think I would need the Jackery? I plan on running a coffee maker, air frier, etc off it.
Hey there! I’m glad you found us. Congrats on the new camper!!! A 2000watt inverter should be a perfect size for your camper. The battery that feeds the inverter will ultimately determine how long you can run the inverter though. Do you know what battery will come in it?
@@CampandCamera Thanks for the quick response....very appreciative! The trailer comes with dual 12v group 31 deep cycle batteries.
You’re gonna be n good shape with that much battery!
@@CampandCamera ....Thanks again and I have watched so many of your videos and finally subscribed. I enjoyed the video of your review of the smokeless fire pit, I bought the Solo and honestly, I would have preferred the pellets. You need to keep the wood to a size less than 8 inches(to keep it below the perforated holes that blast the hot air) and they prefer hardwood.
Enjoy your new camper!!!
Can you use it and charge it at the same time?
Yes, but I read that it can shorten the battery life.
Do you suggest two solar panels or would one charge up the battery in a few hours?
The two panels combined are 200 watts. I believe that is what’s needed to recharge in around 8 hours.
How long does it take to charge this from 50% to 100% off the 12v vehicle plug? The wire seems bigger that the standard 15 amp and fuse on those cigarette lighter plugs.
Per Jackery: Recharged by wall outlet within 5.5 hours, car outlet within 11.5 hours (0-80%)
@@CampandCamera versatile but could be better with a large cable input for charging so I could put a slit charger on it and bring 35- 40amps into it or more.
Really enjoyed your videos im a newish subsciber im also got a teardrop and trying to do the solar technical part aswel keep up the good work bud
Thanks a million!
The diagram showed a cpap runs 17 hours on AC, how long could it run on 12 volt do you think? Also you see like a pretty open and honest guy all the time. Good video, thanks!
Best thing to do is look at the wattage specs on your machine and divide 1000 by that number. That should give the total available hours.
Will it work on a cpap?
Yep, sure will. That’s one reason I wanted one.
All through the night will a cpap work?
Thank you
I recommend checking out Jackery.com. They actually have a chart on their website that shows the run time for different appliances. CPAP’s are one of the items on the chart. Obviously, you’ll get a different run time depending on the size Jackery you buy. Also, I recommend checking the wattage listed on your machine. It’s probably on the bottom. Units running a humidifier will draw more energy. I quit using a humidifier a couple years ago, so naturally I’ll get more run time.
That’s cool
You're gonna have to quit doing these product reviews are I'm gonna have to get a divorce attorney. Thanks Buddy another great video.
Lol! Too funny!
