  • In this episode, we review the Jackery Explorer 1000 solar generator. In one word, “Wow!” This lithium battery power center is a game changer for camping. We’ve brewed coffee, made ice, charged a drone, ran lights, and the list will continue to grow! The capabilities are virtually endless. With two 100 watt foldable solar panels (200 watts total), the Jackery can go for days and days on end. Although we’ll be using the Jackery with our DIY teardrop camper, we also plan to use it with our larger travel trailer while boon docking. Oh, and did we mention how handy it will be during power outages? We look forward to many great adventures with the Jackery.

This is so nice of Jackery and of you to demonstrate the 1000. We bought the 1000 when it was on sale last fall. In upstate NY, our power can go out with a good wind, rain or snowstorm, so having a reliable power source like the 1000 is important to us. While cleaning out our basement, I found my little 4-cup Cuisinart coffee maker with a stainless carafe that I used to use at work. I thought, if this thing still works, I’ll use it for camping, especially if the wattage is low enough... Sure enough, it is only 550 watts and it’s so great knowing that if our power goes out or when we are camping without shore power, we’re all set for coffee. I’m glad to see that the Jackery only lost a little battery power, after making your coffee. Coffee is that important LoL. Thank you, Michael for a great demonstration! Jackery made the right decision to have you review the 1000. Many blessings to you and Joanna. ~ Maria

Don’t know wether or not you will see this comment few years later, but what I would really like to know is how this unit has held up after some some time on it and what you think about it now. Reason I ask is , I have been interested in one of these but read somewhere the longer term battery life seemed a little short.

Any idea of battery life, is battery replaceable or do you buy a whole new unit If it goes out. These aren’t cheap . I’m starting an overland type build and have decided I would Prefer to just go with something like this instead of a whole built in electrical system and battery…but want something I can get my money out of . @@CampandCamera

In fact I’m having a teardrop built by Rustic Trail Teardrops and I’m using the Bluetti AC200P for all my power needs and will have 400 watts of solar panels on the roof which I will be able to tilt for better sun exposure.

We've had a Jackery 500 for our cargo trailer conversion for 18 months. Absolutely fantastic. I'm VERY knowledgeable about electronics and power ( ET1 USN ) and went with the Jackery because of its simplicity. We're just now putting solar on the trailer, and it'll be fully self-contained. We managed to wire the trailer completely without having to open the walls. The fan was already installed. People say that there's not enough AC in the '500 - but how many plugs do you need in a 5'x10' cargo trailer, anyway?

I recommend checking out Jackery.com. They actually have a chart on their website that shows the run time for different appliances. CPAP’s are one of the items on the chart. Obviously, you’ll get a different run time depending on the size Jackery you buy. Also, I recommend checking the wattage listed on your machine. It’s probably on the bottom. Units running a humidifier will draw more energy. I quit using a humidifier a couple years ago, so naturally I’ll get more run time.
