    Excellent review, and I have to say, it's the best SUV I've ever driven and bought one for that exact reason. I did test the 4cyl and the 6cyl in the S, and just couldn't turn down the S. The 4cyl was very impressive, but the 6cyl is a whole other car. Having said that, the 4cyl still surprised me. I don't think anyone would come away thinking they've just purchased a badge. But I'd encourage anyone looking at these to try them side by side and decide for yourself.

    • @MeynMotorGroup
      @MeynMotorGroup  8 месяцев назад +1

      Agreed my friend those are my same thoughts no one will be disappointed with the 4 cylinder and as you said nobody is going to feel they just bought a "badge" I think that's a great way to describe it. This is great because a Macan 4 cylinder is a true entry level product and they nailed it.
      But massive congrats on your new Macan S I'm very happy you pulled the trigger on one, enjoy!

    Great review! I received my Macan S three weeks ago and absolutely love it. Two comments: (1) if you really want a smooth ride, in addition to reducing to the 20" wheels, get the air suspension - it's amazing! (2) I have a solution for the reflective center console. Because I am going to keep this car for 15+ years, I had it completely coated with Xpel paint protective film (PPF) on the outside as well as several components on the inside. For the center console, I had it coated with a matte PPF, which is called "Stealth PPF." It completely eliminates glare as well as hiding dust and fingerprints.
    Although I got a lot of options on the car, I didn't get the Sports Chrono Package for one reason - I would rather look at a clock on top of the dash than a stopwatch. With sports chrono, the revs increase to around 5,200 rpm before you lift your foot off the brake to accelerate. Without sports chrono, the revs increase to around 3,200 rpm before you lift your foot off the brake. Keep up the good reviews!

      And second, thank you so much for taking the time to share this very valuable information. I appreciate the clarification on the air ride and how good the ride is.
      Matte PPF for the center console is a great idea and will protect it from scratches as well.
      Thank you for the facts about the Sport chrono as well. Please enjoy your sweet ride! God Bless

      @@DanielSuarez-zn8iw In round numbers, the PPF was $6,000 for the entire car, except for the roof, which is mostly glass, so I didn't have it covered with PPF. The PPF included the headlights, inside door sills, trunk lip, headlights, and around $250 for the interior of the car, which included the center console (in stealth PPF), the infotainment screen, and various pieces of black trim near the top of each door and over the glove box. Here is the PPF being applied to the driver's door ruclips.net/user/shorts5JB5M1aR_Ss I keep cars for a long time, and, at 75 years old, this will be the last car I purchase. On top of the PPF, I also had ceramic coating applied for around $2,000 to the entire car. I absolutely love the Macan S!!!

    Excellent review! We have a fully optioned '22 Base for my wife. Perfect Porsche driving dynamics, build quality and spirited driving, all with 261hp that she thinks is a lot. So Porsche has done it again, tailor a base model to look and feel amazing as we swap the $20k for options, not and engine. And yes, higher speeds don't yield the typical sensory feedback in other cars as your eyes have to be tethered to the digital spedo to avoid Johnny Law.

  • @H2SO4H20
    @H2SO4H20 Год назад +6

    A feature I definitely wouldn't pass up is the 360 degree surround view which makes it easy to prevent "curbing" your expensive wheels. On this particular Macan build, I'd get the regular white paint instead of the Carrera white metallic paint and the regular non-painted side blades to free up enough money to get surround view. Porsche's Carrera white metallic paint has barely visible metallic properties and isn't worth the extra cost in my opinion based on how it looks on my 2022 Cayenne. The big problem with the Macan is its lack of rear seat space unless you don't care or all the those who ride in it are on the smaller side. I loved the Macan T loaner I had a few months ago but a complete deal killer is its lack of wireless or even wired Android Auto. Otherwise it's a wonderfully handling vehicle and more fun to drive than my Cayenne.

    • @MeynMotorGroup

    Some Macan reviewers present an alternative view of the future Macan hierarchy stating: "electric vehicles are inherently faster than the fastest ICE Macans have ever been or will ever be - 5 years from now, it will be the 4 cyl version that will differentiate the ICE Macans from the EV Macans". Why? Because the 4 cylinder versions may not be the fastest, but they are the lightest, and feel the most agile --- and are arguably the best handling.

    • @huskypup3489

      I agree. As this is the last year of the ICE Macan, I think it will become a classic in time. I predict the EV version will weigh north of 4500 lbs, cost over $80K to start and have a range under 300 miles. In other words, an epic fail.

      So your advice is to tell people to load up the options list on a 4 cylinder Macan and when they go to sell it they should be $30k underwater on the vehicle?
      I don’t think these people got rich by being frivolous with their funds. I’m friends with many wealthy individuals and none of them have that goofy mindset where they’re just going to pay max dollars just because they can.

      Why would a high net worth individual play with used cars? $500 and $1,000 are the same number to them. Not to mention a used one will end up costing more than a new one every month due to interest rates, some banks might not even lend on an 8 year old Macan. Rich people know what to do and how to play, lease and dump and they leave the clapped out used cars to the rest of us who think we're getting one over on the system when we buy used. Reality is when we finance a used car they just front load all the interest so 3 years into the loan we've made no equity in the vehicle and very upside down. Meanwhile the wealthy have washed their hands free and clear of their lease after 3 years or even cashed in on some equity at the end of 3 years. Do the opposite of what majority of people do.

    As a 2022 S owner, I can say it well worth going to the S over the 2.0T equipped trim level. Don't go crazy with options and the S is well worth it keeping the price tag well under $100,000 CDN. I personally went with an S with the Premium Package (open roof, 14way sport seats, nav etc) and 21inch 911 Wheels as the only two options to keep the price down along with standard silver metallic paint. The S is more than quick enough and while fuel mileage is normally poor and it uses premium octane, it can be marginally efficient if driven conservatively. It's fun, small and easy to park, very quick and very tossable despite it being shockingly heavy. Just pray it remains reliable ....because it can be a Monster to fox, replace and maintain.

      @@MeynMotorGroup I have been considering the CX-5 Signature Turbo for some time. I have seen your videos on that vehicle. I really like the Macan S. But with me working remote post-covid, I'm just not sure paying $70k+ for a car that's going to sit on the front yard all week, is worth purchasing. Obviously you were pleased with the CX-5 driving experience?

      Yes loved the CX-5, if longevity is important and you’re keeping past the warranty I would def go with the non turbo select or something ask for a 10% discount and get a $30k CX-5 for $27k and keep it forever

      With a warranty sure you can drive any car without a warranty you're just rolling the dice PDK transmission replacement is between $20k-$30k up to you if you want to take on that gamble outside of a warranty.

    • @bm_sfl
      @bm_sfl Год назад +1

      Get one that is 1 year old with a 2 year CPO warranty. That will give you 5 years of warranty. Yes, a dealer quoted transmission replacement is $20-30k USD but the dealer will only replace a transmission whereas an independent specialist can repair the commonly failed actual part for less than a few grand. I wouldnt buy one over 100k miles unless you have a good independent shop relationship that can source used replacement parts and is willing to install them.

      When I was shopping for my Macan, you couldn't find an X3 with adaptive cruise control, a must-have feature in my book, because of component shortages. I had a 2017 Macan S for three years. It was my tenth car. I wasn’t impressed. Here is my main issue with the Macan. The chassis, motor, transmission(it’s actually a DSG not a true PDK), and electronics are from VW/Audi. The suspension, brakes, interior, and exterior are from Porsche. Cornering at its limit is SUV like. The transmission is rough. It’s pretentious but if you know cars it’s kind of silly. The only true Porsche are the Cayman/Boxster and the 911. The rest are clever VW/Audis.

    I drove a base Macan as a service loaner and it is not the weakling some people have made it out to be. they might be expecting the power of a 911 who knows but as a daily driver the base engine is more than adequate for city driving and fast enough to overtake on the motorway or accelerating onto it.
