i have spent 5 months with no cold water in my kitchen due to poorness and not getting a plumber. This just blew my mind, and fixed my issue. Thank you so much for the simple solution.
BRAVO. I'm a 68 year old widow who can't afford to hire help. You made this beyond easy. Let me add I've gotten help from you for many different jobs, not just plumbing, and you always have an easy to see and understand answer. Thanks. Keep it coming
You just saved me a fortune in repairs AND water damage, and all in about five minutes. This isn't the first time you've pulled my fat out of the fire, either; I saved even more money not long ago by doing my own drywall repair thanks to your videos (that one was so expensive, it probably wouldn't have happened if I hadn't done it myself). I know this video has been up for a while, but it's still doing work. I can't thank you enough.
My valve wasn't just leaking, it was running. It took just a quarter turn to fix it. You just saved me at least $200 if I had to call a plumber in. A BIG THANKS!!!
Thank you Leah! You turned my post water level gizmo replacement leak into a simple fix it, vs worry overnight and into the next day. You really should have your own fix it show. You made this easy.
I remember when cable stations such as DIY actually showed you how to do or repair things rather than the "we have just 3 days to renovate the White House" type of shows.
So many times when I look up videos on common household repair tasks, I find Leah and her helpful tips. I am so grateful for all the information she puts out there, which has given me useful guidance and saved me a lot of grief.😊
You have no idea how much this video helped us today. My boyfriend lives in Germany, and is on lockdown, all building centers closed. A shut off valve in his basement started leaking today, and he was facing a night awake emptying buckets, a $300 an hour weekend repair charge, or a flooded basement trying to fix it himself. I felt so helpless, thousands of miles away. Out of desperation, I Googled the problem, and your video came up. I told him to try it, and sure enough, it worked!! Thank you, thank you, from the bottom of our hearts!! ❤️
Leah you are the best. This is the second time you bailed me out from an expensive repair with an easy DIY procedure. I woke up to water all over my basement wall dripping from the shut off valve to the outside faucet. Thought this was gonna cost me hundreds from a plumber. Such an easy fix. Better yet, absolutely free! Thank you!
Thank you, Leah for making yourself available for people like me! Your simply, easy to follow, how to videos have relieved so much stress from my life. I salute you!
Leah, thanks so much for a to the point and effective video. We had recently turned our winterizing valves to cut water to the outdoor spigot, and the valve in the basement was giving me grief. Thought I had it fixed but then my wife pointed out the dreaded dripping sound. I tried turning the knob and it made it worse. I was so happy to find your video and even more relieved when your advice completely solved the problem. We all have our different gifts, and I thank you for sharing yours!
Everything this gentlemen said is my exact experience, except the wife involvement. (she's usually oblivious to these things) Thank You so much Leah! Definitely getting a Sub from me.
Jane, You saved me a ton of time, money, and a couple of trips to the hardware store with your video tip on fixing a leaky shut-off valve. "In seconds" was an absolutely accurate description of the time it took. Thank you so much. You are THE BEST!!
Thank you Leah! You turned my post water level gizmo replacement leak into a simple fix it, vs worry overnight and into the next day. You really should have your own fix it show. You made this easy.
Thank you Leah! We just bought our first home and have been doing a lot of repairs, one of which was me panicking when the toilet shut-off valve started dripping after I pulled the toilet and started demo and prep for laying a new floor. I've had a darn drip pan under it for 2 weeks! I only made it halfway through your video before I ran to the garage, grabbed my crescent wrench, and tightened the nut --- and whaddya know -- that was it! The whole time I was trying to mess with the other two threaded connections... It was one of those slap-yourself-in-the-forehead moments after realizing I had been overlooking the packing nut you showed in this video. I've already watched a few of your other videos and tonight I am subscribing. You are a blessing and gifted educator because you speak clearly, simply, and confidently. Thank you!

sb50ct you said it perfectly, great tip. Congrats 2 your quick fix.
I can't believe even now I still look at a problem and think I've got it figured out before coming to RUclips and checking out who has already posted the fix to that exact problem which is often much easier than what I was going to do.
OMG!! This is brilliant! You saved me a trip to the plumbing supply store and a lot of time. It literally took me longer to grab my wrench than tightening up the packing nut. Thank you!!! 💙💙💙
Yes, in a pinch this works. However if the washer is old and not pliable, this won't necessarily work. Go to the store and buy a stem valve replacement. 2 or 3$. Then the new washer will be good for 20+ yrs.
Thank you, you are a miracle worker. A small leak occurred when I turned the water to toilet back on after doing some maintenance and I thought I would have to change the shut off valve. I came across your video and tried it out, I so happy it worked, now I don’t have to. Been watching your videos whenever I have to do house repairs, no one else’s videos have easy to follow directions, thoughtful explanations, and most of all, encouragement that it can be done.
Thank you for making such a simple, well-explained video for us beginners! So many videos do not explain basics (like how much do you turn it? which direction?) You're the best!
❤️❤️You have been a lifesaver around the house! Thanks for this great tip - I had a feeling since it was just a drip there might be an easy way to stop the leak :) Way better than the hassle of finding the right nominal size, going to my hardware store (where nobody wants to help you look for anything ever), shutting off the whole house water...you get it. Keep making these awesome videos!❤️❤️
Ok - I just finished watching about 2 hours of RUclips videos on how to fix this problem (including cutting line, soldering lines, replacing the valves, removing the compression fitting and ferrule, etc.). Then I had to find the water cut-off to the house. I was just ready to sign off and head to the hardware store and happen to see this video. I thought - what the heck, may as well give it a try, as so many of the other videos on this channel have been very helpful (should have gone here to see if there was a solution first - my bad!). I tried it and it worked great! No more dripping AT ALL! I agree - this woman should have her own cable show! Thank you for saving me a lot of time and money!!!
You saved me $300. Thank you!!! Had couple plumbers inspected and suggested replacing the valve. Your video saved me so much time and money. Thank you!!!
My leak was under the sink. I called the plumber yesterday morning and its now the next day - he never called me back. Saw your video and took a shot at fixing this myself and it worked! THANK YOU! Now I can spend my time looking for a new plumber for next time.
Now that everyone is living in their apartments for fear of catching the virus, you just saved me hours of annoyance as well as another trip to the hardware store. THANKS!
Leah I want to give you a genuine thank you and a big ole hug. Had a leaky valve in the basement and you had the answer to my problem. You ma'am are an angel!
Leah, you absolutely rock. Had a leak under the sink, searched and found your video, and problem solved in less than a minute and no more dread about how I was going to replace this!!!! Thank you very much!!!
Excellent videos. Informative, to the point, simple to follow, and expertly videoed. Watch these first before calling an expert. Most easy fixes take literally seconds and save you hundreds of dollars. I assumed I needed a new valve, but in this video, the quick and easy solution not only made perfect sense, it worked for me!
Thank you so, so, much! I just had this problem and this video helped me fix it so quickly! My mom and I have been using your videos for all sorts of things around the house. We really appreciate how you approach tasks with such a a fabulous tone with amazing angles. You've saved us tens of thousands of dollars by teaching us how to do so many things ourselves. We literally cannot thank you enough!
Everything about this video is perfect. Tightening the packing nut just a little bit as shown in the video completely stopped the leak. When even a trip to the hardware store is a major hassle, fixing the leak almost instantly with a simple wrench is the best possible outcome.
Thank you Jane! I was about to (try to) replace the whole valve; did not realize it would be such an easy fix. You just saved me $8 on the valve, then probably another $100 on the plumber I would have hired to fix my work. :-) Keep up the great work!
I would always use TWO wrenches to tighten any plumbing, one to tighten, and one to support the line. In the picture, you can see two nuts, one closer to the wall, and one you're tightening. Place a wrench on each nut. That way, if the pipe happens to be copper, soft, you would not be twisting the copper pipe.
You guys are exactly right, and this is critical, not optional. Any pro plumber would never tighten without using a second wrench as a 'hold back' And I'd turn the supply off just in case your fixture crumbled when you put a wrench to it. Could create a flood otherwise.
I had the city come replace my meter and when they left my plumbing was leaking... I knew right away what they had done and was especially careless seeing as how the meter was red brass and I had CPVC ran....
I have to put in my two cents here and agree....a building engineer neighbor of mine stressed the importance of support----to avoid bending or cracking resulting in costly and messy damage for a plumber to repair.
You described exactly what to do clearly and completely - without a condescending tone. I fixed my leak easily with no expense and no plumber. Thank you so much!! I hope to learn more from you!
This totally worked! I had just installed new faucets in the kitchen. Had this very issue with small leak. A slight turn of that packing nut fixed 100%. Thank you so much for this advice.
Hello there! You just saved me a lot of work, thank you! I was ready to replace the whole valve assembly. One quick turn, and the drip has stopped!. :)
I love this woman. I've been trying to fix my valve for over a week. My husband wants to call a plumber if things go bad. He won't help me because he's afraid.. all I need is to have him turn off the water to house. You'd think I was asking for a new house. I saw this video today and fixed the toilet. So far so good no leak. It was that easy. All the water flooding the bathroom and all I needed to do is watch this video. Thanks again.
I've been doing my own plumbing to save money, but am basically learning as I go. After a long day, I finished replacing corroded metal pipes with pvc under the kitchen sink. and was so proud of the end result... But, as I turned on the water at the water control valve, it started leaking. Everywhere. I nearly cried, and I really just didn't know where to start. I'm so thankful I found your video. It saved me extra money, time, and at least a little of my sanity. Thank you so much!
One trick I found on numerous toilet plumbing leak calls, is that many of these older shutoff valves can seal on two settings. Full shut, and full open; but NOT in BETWEEN ! So, if the valve is open half way, and developing a leak, try opening the valve all the way. Often the leak will stop.
James, the following explanation may relate to what you're describing functionally.... chestertondocs.chesterton.com/Stationary/Page17AskExpertSept.pdf
Jane you are AMAZING!!!! I have used your videos in the past and I find them very useful, clear, right length, perfect! This one about how to fix a shut off valve leak save me at least a day of plumbing work and several hardware store trips! THANK YOU!!!
Good Tip Leah, but I would point out that when doing ANY kind of tightening on a plumbing fitting, valve, coupling , nipple, elbow, etc. it is a good idea to use a second wrench at another location close to the work to reduce the stress / flex you may put on the pipe in the wall.
It worked you are awesome, 2 days no leak!!!! Happy dance!!! Since I lost my husband I have learned to do things I never thought I would! And you gave me the confidence to do this as well! So thank you so much! In my case easy 2 minute fix!!
GREAT video, Leah, but my shutoff valve does NOT completely shut off the water to the toilet when I try to turn the handle all the way clockwise. Is there a simple fix for this (washers?) or do I need to replace the entire valve?
Hi Doug, It sounds like you have a multi-turn shut-off valve. They tend to go bad really quickly. I would just replace the valve with a quarter-turn valve.
Thanks so much for the tip, Leah, and yes, both bad ones are multi-turn handle shut-off valves. But get this: One of them under the toilet has an attached upright CYLINDER that is a couple of inches long and what purpose would that cylinder do for shutting on and off the water to a toilet?? It looks like a cylinder for an air rifle!!!
Legitimately so grateful for this simple need to know video! Solved our issue, while on vacation we installed a bidet as a gift & started a leak due to old valve and this fixed it. Thank you so freaking much!!!
Thank you so much for empowering me to try this fix instead of instantly calling for help or assuming I needed to replace the unit. All fixed, no drip 😁
Leah. My shutvalve started leaking heavily at 1 am and i was thinking replacement offcourse. I had to consult you before going to the store and you saved me again. Thank you so much! Just tightened and no more leaks!
Oh my gosh I already adore you! You give clear instructions, you're encouraging and you're teaching women to break through stereotypes! I say this because I'm just as unhandy as people assume my gender is and I've always hated that!
Probably one of the most relevant and useful videos on the Internet Literally And executed in a straightforward fashion Thank you, from myself and every homeowner on the planet Have a good day
6 years later and this video is still helping! I was looking up how to replace my valve because the stem was leaking. The last thing I wanted to do was take apart the valve and install washers. Sure enough. 1/4 turn later it’s done!
This video saved my sanity!!! I had just finished changing a leaky faucet and it was leaking behind the shut off valve. I almost lost my marbles but this video was the first to pop up and I was done with the project in minutes. I can’t thank you enough.
Leah, you rock!! my dad was a steamfitter and boilermaker. He taught me plumbing basics because he said "save the big jobs for the pros and try to do the little ones yourself" his logic was even if you fail and have to call in a pro you still tried and still learned something. I love your vids and look forward them! BTW I recently changed my 30 yr old bathtub faucets including the stems and saved myself a bundle of $$
My mum grew up on the prairies of Canada in the 1930's. She had the same sort of water that you have. She use to tell me that when they were teens, the girls giggled when the douched because the water was so hard...
Thank you very much. I used this approach for my bathroom sink valve and it worked perfectly. No more leaks 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽I wish I would have seen your video before I purchased those valve but, I am still grateful. Peace and blessing to you
You're a rock star! I fixed my leaking water shutoff valve in about 3 seconds. Your video saved me hours of unnecessary work and who knows how much money in repair bills.
Nice! Thank you for this trick. I haven't done much household plumbing. Not familiar with the internal mechanisms of such a valve. So seeing simply instructions like this from veterans with field experience is gold!
Thank you Leah for saving me time and money! You are awesome! I followed your instructions and it worked-so easy!! I'm a widow and will always check your feed for help. You explain things so well. God bless you!
Wow! You rock. Mine was dripping lots while turning the handle, and once every five minutes at full open. After tightening the packing nut, turning the handle inward, tightening again, turning handle inward, tightening a third time, it doesn't leak at all. THANK YOU!!!
What great advice, you helped me fix my problem in seconds!! I had to shut off both valves and when I turned them back on they were both leaking, you are a life and money saver!!
Hello GMGarlo, See Jane Drill has over 200 videos.... below is a link to the video you requested, showing how to replace a shut-off valve.ruclips.net/video/HeEORnczD3s/видео.html
So so so grateful to you for this. My realtor took a GC on a walk-through of my place while I was away and lo and behold, the pre-sale work showed that I needed a plumber because of a leak that appeared during the walk-through! Thank you for helping me know that it was not a coincidence!!
You are a saint!!! after two days trying to figure out why the toilet bowl was leaking and replacing the gasket with the correct one, i noticed the shutoff valve leaks too. Saved me a trip and a huge headache trying to figure out out to shutoff the main in a 3 story apartment building.
I don’t know who you are but I have been trying to fix this issue for years! I can’t replace the valve without cutting out the entire set up with tile on my wall. You saved me. I would hug you if you were here!!!!
I appreciate that this video gets right to the point. I closed an old main shutoff valve and it immediately started leaking, kind of a lot. I needed to fix it fast, and this helped before I had a big problem.
@I C and what happens to galvanized after 50 years in service, let me help you it corrodes and becomes extremely weak. So at least if it breaks outside the wall then you can try and back out what's left of the nipple and replaced it with new one.
@I C enlighten me please, so your telling me you can't hold back on the stop, so as to not place any force on the nipple itself. And 9 times out 10 an easyout will not work. But you keep loosening packing nuts a quarter turn and show how easy it is to stop a leak you created, for RUclips hits and misimforming people and setting them up for failure.
@I C so you solder pipe all day, and an outsource company tests it for you, haha that's great. and By the way you definitely won't get that easyout to work on 50+year old galvanized pipe. You keep doing these videos though there amuzing.
I like the 1/4 turn valves, but I had to replace one for my sink, because it was corroded and started to leak ; probably due to: not using it in years and build up of mineral deposits. I'm thinking that maybe, turning them off and on, once in a while, keeps them from getting too much build up?
This saved me some money this morning! I was all set to call a plumber but paused and did a google search and your video was the first video result. Fixed my problem in seconds. Thank you!
I needed to turn off the shutoff valves under my bathroom sink today, and when I did, the cold water shutoff started leaking badly enough that I left it turned off. I thought I was going to have to replace it. I decided to check out RUclips, and I came across your video showing how to fix the problem. I tried it and it absolutely worked! Thank you so much for posting this video! It was easy to follow and the information was exactly what I needed to know. Fabulous job!
Thank you, thank you thank you!! After installing a "T" fitting with a shut off for a water line to a new refrigerator, removing the old saddle valve, sealing up the hole in pipe afterwards,we turned the water back on everything we did was leak free, but now the old shut off valve was leaking around the shaft. It was late so it became a project for tomorrow, we put a pan under the drip with the plan being to repack the valve in the morning, Later something in the back of my mind kept me wondering, so I turned to the worlds friend of DIYers, RUclips and looked up the valve problem your video jogged my memory, saved me a 25 mile trip back to my sons with the leak. I called him up explained to him what you did in the video ...and...IT WORKED!! Thanks for saving me time and crawling around on my knees and him some money for a repair that we didn't need to do. Even thou I now enjoy working with my son on his old house this was a lesson for him to file away, hopefully better than I did. Thanks again
I've seen a few of your videos so far (especially on painting tips) and I'm amazed at your knowledge and expertise. Thank you (former electrician with no plumbing knowledge).
Leah, thanks so much! Your video is short, sweet, and very clear. I had just replaced the flapper in the toilet and the valve started leaking. Due to your video, I was able to fix the leak on my own. Thanks again!
Woke up to a soaked mat from a leak that had beeb going all night, your video came up in my search and I’m so glad it did! I fixed the leak and didn’t have to call a plumber. Thank you so much!
thank you your a life save. two guys came in today to put in new countertops but they had to stop because of the leak. it drove me nuts thinking of getting up every few hours to check on the bucket. i even thought about what would happen if i went to bed without finding a way to fix the leak. until i found your video. thank you again you get a like from me.
Wow! This completely fixed my leaking problem in my bathroom. I have been dealing with playing phone tag with plumbers. Literally took less than one minute to fix. So much stress gone. Thank you thank you thank you!
I had some water hammer from my toilet, so I messed with the shut off valve and noticed it was leaking. I was about ready to head to the hardware store and decided to watch your video first. Worked like a charm! No more leaking and no more water hammer. Thank you!
Thanks for sharing this as I had a seized up valve that I broke free but it started leaking afterward from the stem. This jogged my thinking that I should try this. It worked like a charm and prevented an emergency visit from a plumber.
FANTASTIC!! Needed a quick fix for the shut off valve to the outside hose. Got so angry because it was spraying and running onto the basement floor. The packing nut seemed to be extremely loose. All set now! Thanks Leah!
I owe you lots of hugs and kisses!!! I replaced my kitchen faucet yesterday and it went pretty well. Unfortunately, I noticed shortly afterwards that the shut off valve had a slight drip, similar to the one you illustrated. I was about to run to the store to buy a new shut off valve when I saw your video and viola, you solved my problem. I tightened the packing nut slightly and the drip instantly stopped. Thank you so much!
Lia... THANK YOU! I know little about plumbing. But I needed a new kitchen faucet and I RUclipsd my way through the installation... pretty easily I must say. But, in doing so, by shutting off the water, the hot water supply valve started leaking. It only stopped when I shut it off completely... and we can't live like that, right? Well, I watched your video and learned about tightening the Packing Nut... and... VOILA! No More Leak!!! I've rarely touched the water supply valves. So with age, they must get stuck/sealed. By turning the sticky valve, I likely loosened the hot water valve's Packing Nut. I had no idea what I had done.. until I saw your video. Again, thank you! ❤️
I was about to replace my shut off valve until I saw you technique. It never crossed my mind that the solution would be this easy. Keep up the great work.
Amazingly simple fix! Thank you. And I appreciate that your video did not have any kind of intro or "inspirational" story about how you got into plumbing or how valves are made, but you went straight to the point.
All hail Leah!! I planned to replace a leaking toilet shutoff valve, and found that there was no way to get to it due drywall in the finished basement. Instead of hacking into the basement ceiling, I simply tightened the packing nut about a quarter turn, and voila! not drips! Thank you so much, Leah!! 👍😀
Omgosh thank you!!! I have had a towel under it for months! Changing it out.. turning on and off water with each flush- and seconds later fixed bc of your video! And i did it- myself! THANK YOU LEAH!

Most easy fixes take literally seconds and save you hundreds of dollars. I assumed I needed a new valve, but in this video, the quick and easy solution not only made perfect sense, it worked for me!
wow... i was so ready to replace the shut off valve then I came across your video....
tried it and it actually fixed the leak... Thank you so much!!!
Double thanks…just used this and fixed!
I would've thought this as well. I cringed a bit when she started tightening and then way past an 1/8 to 1/4 turn.
I still love her vids though.
You guys are exactly right, and this is critical, not optional. Any pro plumber would never tighten without using a second wrench as a 'hold back'
And I'd turn the supply off just in case your fixture crumbled when you put a wrench to it. Could create a flood otherwise.
@@WayPastCrazy2525 I'm a big fan too ! Love all her vids !
You saved me an enormous amount of frustration. Thank you.

I could listen to her voice alone for hours... So calming
Thank you so much!! 5 years later and still helping people fix things!!! Saved us waiting weeks for maintenance to finally make it by
Jane you are AMAZING!!!!
@I C um not brass try again Leah.
@I C I agree I did service work for over 20years new construction for the last 12 now I run my own buisness thanks Leah!
It worked you are awesome, 2 days no leak!!!! Happy dance!!! Since I lost my husband I have learned to do things I never thought I would! And you gave me the confidence to do this as well! So thank you so much! In my case easy 2 minute fix!!
fantastic, Kathy, you did it! way to go!
Hi Doug, It sounds like a water hammer arrester. I can't say for certain because I'm not looking at it first-hand, however, that's my best guess.
You helped me caulk for the first time 8 years ago. Today you have helped me stop a leak! Many thanks! I hope people watch your videos for generations
Legitimately so grateful for this simple need to know video! Solved our issue, while on vacation we installed a bidet as a gift & started a leak due to old valve and this fixed it. Thank you so freaking much!!!
God Bless you. You saved me a whole lot of time and trouble. Took about 10 seconds.
fantastic, glad to be of help!
People like you have literally saved me thousands of dollars in unnecessary repairs, and made me a more capable human being. THANK YOU!
Oh my gosh I already adore you! You give clear instructions, you're encouraging and you're teaching women to break through stereotypes! I say this because I'm just as unhandy as people assume my gender is and I've always hated that!
thanks, Heidi, and welcome to our channel...you can definitely learn this stuff!!
Probably one of the most relevant and useful videos on the Internet
Literally
And executed in a straightforward fashion
Thank you, from myself and every homeowner on the planet
Have a good day
6 years later and this video is still helping!
BTW I recently changed my 30 yr old bathtub faucets including the stems and saved myself a bundle of $$
+oldladytoofast thank you! Way to go on changing out your old bathtub faucets. You're dad had good sense. :)
The water at my house is hard enough that little leaks all fix themselves eventually
My mum grew up on the prairies of Canada in the 1930's. She had the same sort of water that you have. She use to tell me that when they were teens, the girls giggled when the douched because the water was so hard...
@@DavidM2002 wtf? So your mom likes to tell you about her old fashioned douche bag days🤣
I'm so confused in this comment section
Thank you very much. I used this approach for my bathroom sink valve and it worked perfectly. No more leaks 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽I wish I would have seen your video before I purchased those valve but, I am still grateful. Peace and blessing to you
You're a rock star! I fixed my leaking water shutoff valve in about 3 seconds. Your video saved me hours of unnecessary work and who knows how much money in repair bills.
So glad you posted this! Totally fixed the issue.
fantastic!
Love this lady. Wish everything was explained as easy.
This lady is amazing
Grt video. Same goes for outside faucets. Or any faucet with a packing nut.
Thanks
Wow!
I had to shut off both valves and when I turned them back on they were both leaking, you are a life and money saver!!
i would like to see the next part of the video if the water doesn't stop leaking .plan B !!! THANKS , love your stuff!!
Hello GMGarlo, See Jane Drill has over 200 videos.... below is a link to the video you requested, showing how to replace a shut-off valve.ruclips.net/video/HeEORnczD3s/видео.html

thank you thank you thank you leah you are my god and god bless good and kind people like u to want help others with true knowlege thanks again love u
you're very welcome, Nazila, I'm glad to be of help!
You are the BEST!!!!
+MontiR Aruba thanks!!
I just fixed the leaking packing nut on our toilet!!!!! WOOHOO!!!
Did you mention to hold back on the valve so you don't snap it off the pipe.
This is so important. I taught my daughter to always use a second wrench to hold the work in place when tightening a threaded part.
@@sumitsubokamaboku5482 - 🔧Snap the pipe causes a plumber house call 💰👌😄
Replace those old packing nut valves with 1/4 turn ball valves. The ball valves have fewer parts to leak.
I like the 1/4 turn valves, but I had to replace one for my sink, because it was corroded and started to leak ; probably due to: not using it in years and build up of mineral deposits. I'm thinking that maybe, turning them off and on, once in a while, keeps them from getting too much build up?
So grateful for you! 7 years later and you’re still helping people with your video 😊 this single momma thanks you!!
What a great tip! I was about to replace the entire valve and then I saw this video and tried it. Worked like a charm! Thank you.
Home Depot is going mad at you : )

I don't know why they stopped but for a while they were telling people how to do it yourself. They even had free classes.
I REALLY wish there were women contractors around here. :)
I know. What a generous spirit this woman has.
I wish there were real women these days that know how to actually act like a lady.
Ok, but how about option #2?
Unscrew the packing nut (after turning off the water supply) and changing the washer?
10 Seconds just saved me from swapping the valve. You rock! Thanks for sharing.
As a homeowner, great how-to videos like these have saved me a lot of time and money. Thank you.
Very clear and thoroughly spoken. Thank you for providing this option as most went directly to replacing the entire valve. Two thumbs up!
