    Awesome vid mate and thanks for the shout out.
    Tourist Trap, House on Sorority Row, Happy Birthday To Me, Alone in the Dark, Final Exam, The Sleeper, April Fools Day, Madman, Sleepaway Camp, Terror Train, Slaughter High, Silent Night Deadly Night, Intruder, My Bloody Valentine and The Burning are all awesome. Killer Party blew my mind!!!!!. I was abit disappointed with Slumber Party Massacre. Yeah man, I hated Just Before Dawn.
    Have you seen Black Christmas and Christmas Evil?

    Man, Madman is great, but really quirky; I remember in one scene where someone catches an axe to the the face, but the gash shows up on the other side of their face! The Prowler's ending gives me goregasms, that head explosion was awesome! Intruder is my favorite stand-alone slasher film of all-time, the kills in that movie are unbeatable! Great top 30 list, Moodz!

  • @1rxmas1
    @1rxmas1 12 лет назад

    Awesome slasher list buddy!! Your top 10 just contains so many classics!!. Also i absolutely love House on Sorority Row,The Prowler,Madman,Windows,Tourist Trap etc etc. infact all your choices are totally awesome! All these slashers i've seen dozens of times and are just endlessly rewatchable. The only one i'd include myself also is Nightmare. But with so many classics outthere there could easily be a top 50. Excellent vid pal!

  • @Absolutesublime1
    @Absolutesublime1 11 лет назад

    A couple slashers that would have made my top 30 list that you didn't mention would be; Hatchet, Popcorn, Wrong Turn, Pieces, Chopping Mall, Inside, High Tension, Sleepaway Camp, Frontiers, Nightmare,The Hills Have Eyes, but you might have left that off because it is kind of a series.
    Again awesome list and video.

    Hi there.
    Just watched your list and I really enjoyed it a lot. Only one movie on that I didn't know. So good taste man:-)
    One piece of advise though. The music in the background was so distracting that i almost had to put it on mute.. it was very frustrating.
    Great list!

I'm gonna check out ur zombie video now. just hoping there isn't music playing in the background haha. that would be my only suggestion. if u want music edit it in. it would sound much better. good list tho. a couple I haven't seen. so thanks

    Dude, I'm only 1 minute in and I've got to give you props on this one. I certainly don't envy the task of narrowing down a list of MY favorite slashers. Kudos to you sir! I love slashers too, but ranking them would just give me fits!! I do like that you excluded the major franchises too, this way we'll get to hear about many more titles rather than just what was in between Freddy and Jason and Michael etc. Anyway, now I've got to finish the last 25 minutes of this vid. :)

American Psycho is a film that just kills me everytime I watch it man. The dialogue alone makes me cry hahah. Thanks buddy for watching!!! Thats rad that our tastes are similar. Thats why I love your updates man, if you really like a film I always buy that shit hahahha.

    • @Moodz616
      @Moodz616  5 лет назад +1

      Old ass video dude. We just dropped our top 50 fav films of all time on the new podcast, check it out. The majority of list is Italian horror. As for this slasher list again hella old video and If I was gonna redo this list it would be vastly different. Now with that said Bava really didn't make slashers but more prototypes eg, Bay of Blood. He made giallos, Charz!

  • @SlugStudios

    Great list! Always had a soft spot for Terror Train. Where would you rate Nikc Vertigo's Bitch Slasher movies?

  • @Absolutesublime1
    @Absolutesublime1 11 лет назад

    Motel Hell, heck yes! You keep naming awesome movie after awesome movie.
    Christian Bale was made for the American Psycho, fantastic performance, you gotta check him out in The Machinist as well. Fantastic dark comedy / horror film and great satire on the yuppie lifestyle. That ending to Killer Party is top notch. Intruder is super underrated, now that synapse released it Intruder has rightfully gotten more acknowledgement.

  • @Moodz616
    @Moodz616  11 лет назад +1

    I own every Argento film and he is in my top 5 directors of all time actually. I tried to stay away from putting Giallos in my list and just stuck to the common slasher film. It was just easier that way. If I had went a differnt route I could have put Bay of Blood and a whole pile of different type of slasher(esk) films in there..Cheers!!

    how cut is the shriek show version of just before dawn? I was going to order my copy from code red but the last time I ordered a movie from him it took along time and I had to file a claim and bitch to finally get it and I hear people on facebook bitching about the same movie that they never got so im glad I did get mine but now I just haven't ordered since then. I was going to order a shriek show copy on amazon. I did watch the full uncut movie on you tube and loved it. I heard there is only seconds of footage that the shriek show version doesn't have.

    I left off Hatchet, The Wrong Turn Series, Sleepaway Camp The Hills Have Eyes on purpose. Chopping Mall I remember being left on the chopping block(Pun intended). If you have ever watched my vids, I always talk about how much I love that film. Popcorn is another one I love, just missed the cut. Frontiers, not sure if I would classify that it as a true slasher, but regardless amazing film. Nightmare is one that was left off cause I do not own it which is a hame cause I love it so much.Cheers Jay!

  • @Moodz616
    @Moodz616  11 лет назад +1

    Its a hard one to put in an all slasher list just cause of all the other elements in that film. It def has a slasher story in it, but over all Anthology films had to be left out of this list...BTW, I love that film and its my fav anthology film ever to date. It recently bumped Creepshow out of the number 1 spot!!!

  • @Moodz616

    At the beginning of the video I stated that this PERSONAL top 30 slasher list wasn't going to contain any films from major franchises hense no Halloween, Friday films, Nightmare films, TCM films, Child's Play ect...I wanted to make list list without them cause there is to many in the major franchises that I love and would have made the list. This way was just easier

  • @Moodz616

    A Blade in the Dark came out in 1983, its Directed by Lamberto Bava, its a really great film IMO, Def Check it out sometime. The DVD isn't hard to find.

  • @Absolutesublime1
    @Absolutesublime1 11 лет назад

    A few other horror movies set in a super market are; Cornered, The Mist, Alien Raiders.
    MBV is my 4th favorite slasher, I always felt My Bloody Valentine deserves a series.
    Personally I think The Burning is very overrated, Savini's worst effects, poor editing, the raft scene was weak sauce for me, and the editing at the ending was awful. The big redeeming factor are all the famous young actors. Pretty much agree with you on everything else. Vigilante is bad ass! Great video

  • @PresidentialAI96
    @PresidentialAI96 11 лет назад

    Wanted to know any other slasher films in supermarkets? It's a slasher called "Cornered!". It came out in 2009 and it's in the so-bad-it's-good category.

  • @Moodz616
    @Moodz616  11 лет назад

    One thing about The Sleeper that I don't think I mentioned in the video is the main theme song with lyrics that say something about CDs, Vinyl and Tapes. The film takes place in 1981 and there wasn't CDs for home sale in 1981. That was kind of a downer for me. Its just not authentic lol.

    I have around 50 films from 1981 actually so I need a couple more but I have them on order actually. 1981 if you look up the year, you'll notice that it looks like a greatest hits list of horror films hahahhahah, its unreal the quality of films that dropped that year....Thankx Gary!!!

  • @od666666
    @od666666 12 лет назад

    Tourist Trap rules, I love it!! Just Before Dawn is great! I held off on that one for a while cause I heard it was lacking in gore, but it didnt matter! Blade in the Dark is cool, I need to rewatch it again one day. I got it as a double feature with Macabre, which is a fun one too. Alone in the Dark needs more credit. Prowler is classic. Stepfather 1 and 2 are both great. I didnt even bother to watch the remake. Sleeper is so awesome! I bet Scream Factory will release Curtains.

  • @Moodz616
    @Moodz616  12 лет назад

    Thanks buddy, I agree all these films have sooooooo much reply value!!! Nightmare lo., don't even get me started on that one. I actually don't fucking own that one cause I'm an idiot and didn't buy it when it first came out and then it went OOP so fast now its goes for retarded prices hahah, I suck sometimes man. I hope that Scream Factory also releases that one, I would have a hard on for ever if they did hahaha....thanks for watching buddy!!!

    The Sleeper has become a personal favorite slasher of mine, minus the line dancing scene ha, I have that vhs/dvd set for it too, really cool set.
    How does Blood Diner, Curtains not have a stand alone release?!
    Stagefright won me over with the killer wearing the owl head mask, I also loveeeeee The Church and Cemetery Man. Cemetery Man is so surreal and trippy. Marty is awesome in Slaughter High. SNDN is so much fun with hilarious kills but the beginning is creepy.

    You will not be disappointed with The Prowler and Alone in the dark, their both classics haha. Hey man, if you like the films that I have shown that you have seen, then the ones that you have not seen I'm sure you will like. Like I said I do like Arrow Video I find that they are not that original with there actually releases but their packaging is unreal haha. Scream Factory on the other had is just unreal with their slated releases. Terror Vision, The Video Dead, The Town That Dreaded Sundown..

    OD66666666666666!!!!!! Whats up my mans!!!!!! Just Before Dawn is awesome man, its seems to be one of them slasher films that nobody has seen though I find lol. Blade in the Dark rules as does Macabre. Alone in the Dark is one of them films that seems to fly way under the radar also I agree. Dude I actually watched the remake of The Stepfather at work one time by no choice, I hated it with a fucking passion. If Scream Factory releases Curtains I will freak the fuck out hahahhah.

    Hello sir, i love this list, but i've seen them all, i want it to make a request if you're up for it, i'd love if you could make like a top 30 or whatever modern day slasher film, i've already been posting this request but no one replied, i would appreciate it since i've already watched 80's movies and i want to get a couple of ideas for these new ones.

  • @niklas5629

    if you are wondering wich im talking about, here they are:
    Torso
    A blade in the dark
    The texas chainsaw massacre(This one was not on the list but it was named as a slasher)

    • @Moodz616
      @Moodz616  9 лет назад

      I have mentioned many times that TCM falls into many sub genres but to each his own. Torso can be classified as a Giallo of course and a blade in the dark as well but also as slashers. Just like Pieces as some call it a Giallo and some a slasher

  • @Moodz616
    @Moodz616  12 лет назад

    Slaughter High is one of them films that always gets stuck in my head for a long time after I watch it. I actually like the sequels to SNDN lol. I think the second one is a full blown cheese fest ahhah. Part 3 gets over looked because it should have been a film on its own and would have worked way better that way. I forgot about Chopping Mall actually and I fucking love that film man. I could only fit 30 films in my top 30 though hahahah. The Burning is classic as is Maniac, thanks Gary!!!!

  • @sherylhunter5026
    @sherylhunter5026 11 лет назад

    what did you think of the remake with Elijah Wood?

  • @Moodz616
    @Moodz616  11 лет назад

    I I have Cornered and The Mist and I also have Hide and go Shriek also, its an Aussie slasher, the end is brutal lol. The Burning score is one of my fav scores of all time. I've always been such a huge fan of that film. I agree not perfect, especially the brutal end with it being light when its supposed to be dark hahahhaha. Def not done to perfection.

  • @od666666

    I cant wait for Terror Vision and Video Dead!! I love those so much. Yes! Dont Open Till Christmas is so fun! Madman is good, the sensual hot tub scene is fucking funny!! Cant go wrong with some Sleepaway Camp! Slumber Party Massacre 2 is my favorite out of that series, its so stupid! Maniac Cop 2 is my favorite too, such cool stunts! Black Christmas is great, I even like the remake. Slaughter High rules, Marty is the shit! Silent Night Deadly Night is one of my top favorites!

    Terror Vision and The Video Dead are giving me a bonner man. I cannot believe the titles that Scream Factory are releasing man, its unreal. They are also releasing The Town That Dreaded Sundown which is also fucking awesome man. Don't Open Till Christmas is a film that I could watch on every holiday of the year. The remake of Black Christmas is actually really damb great. I just re-watched the film a bit ago and loved it. The cast of girls in the film is unreal man, so fucking hot man...
