My Dad passed away a couple of years ago. I wrote a small piano piece with the Cinematic C7 patch to honor his life. Everything came out naturally, including my tears. 😢
Keyscape has so much detail and nuance that it's inspirational on its own. 👍
That's a very beautiful way to honor him. 💚💚💚
Dude I'm sorry to hear that♥️ you find peace in this piano makes it even more special to me
What a beautiful way to honor him. My condolences and rip and I wish you the best of luck during the grieving process.
Came for Keyscape, stayed for the amazing jazz!
lol, thanks man
Indeed! 😁
Ahaha So did I
Yes! This is everything
Also subbed for that reason alone. Plus keyscape!
When I clicked on this video, I had no idea I’d hear such incredible playing. Your finesse as a pianist is mind blowing! ( most “producers” on RUclips don’t have this kind of instrumental skill imo)
Thanks!!
Big ditto. Never saw this guy before. Clicked to hear keyscape, but Sam's playing is phenomenal.
great playing indeed and i am being as respectful as i can with your "imo", but lowkey gatekeeping "producers" out of music and judging their production value by the amount of jazz chord progression variations played bc they didn't spend half their life on learning theory or going to a jazz school is kinda meh.
Let's keep music and content creation in general a fun thing for everyone.
take the comment with your own grain of salt and have a great day !
@@tmbrdmn I don't see any gatekeeping, nor judgement of production value as it relates to piano playing skill. Just a simple (and anecdotally accurate) statement that most producers don't have piano skills this strong.
producers don't necessarily need instrumental skills, although many have them.
Who cares about the VST, this was a great concert 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thank you!
agreed
Str8 upbgame changer
Sam playing Piano, don’t sleep on him like I did.
hahaha, clever
ON him? ...er...well...never mind.
All the licks I caught - 4:47 - 19:34 - 22:08 - 22:26 - 33:34 - 39:24 - 40:01

@@reeyeetson57yearsago87 lol quiiiittttt it.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I bought both Keyscape and Omnisphere. They work very well together and I’m glad I made the decision to get them.
ooo, good purchase. You're basically set hahaha
Trillian next :)
i only bought omnisphere but i think there are more important plugins to buy as a beginner than keyscape what do you think?
@@kjellbeats if you like the sound of a good piano Keyscape is hard to beat as far as plugins go, but I do understand. The price tag is kind of steep and having a computer that can handle it is a must. I end up buying a new computer with better processors just to get it perform properly
@@BryWMac I was thinking about that myself.😁
Started learning music theory a good 1 month ago purely because of Keyscapes sounds, this has motivated for me to learn even more.
Gotta keep going!!
Just bought this last week. Man, I'm also regretting not getting this sooner! I never knew how much I needed these instruments until I had them, especially the C7 and the Rhodes! Great video brother, and your playing is sublime!
Thanks for watching!!
Wasn’t expecting King of Kings! That’s GOTTA be my favorite worship song right now. Played keys for the first time in service this week (been on guitar my whole life basically haha), and that was in our set! So so good.
Yep! It’s a good one. What church you at?
@@SamTheBeardGuy I’m at Rocky Mountain Christian Church just north of Denver. Clicked on your video bc we’re looking at overhauling our current Mainstage rig with Keyscape as our sound engine, and I think this video convinced me. 🙏🏼
brooo the playing was so sick. you just flexed on me for 53 min and im all here for it
Hahaha, I can only flex on the piano. Me flexing in real life is a miss, I have noodle arms.
@@SamTheBeardGuy 😂😂
I don't want that library. Yeah, it sounds awesome. I wanna play piano like Sam. I want to learn to play so amazingly diverse and multi faceted like him. But I know, this is years and years and years of practice, a lot of talent and a humble heart.
AMAZING!
Crazy, how this guy has just 3k subs.
I'm working on getting more!
i’m just starting to learn piano at 19 but seeing stuff like this motivates me so much. i hope to get omnisphere and keyscape soon
keep at it!
Another 245 years and you can be as good as Sam.
Go for it man !̆̈ :3
You should get an acoustic upright first before digital...
One of the best demos for a sample instrument library ever and your musicality and chops are fantastic. I just bought Keyscape, after watching this. You're killin...thank you!
Thanks for watching!
I swear if Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood ever makes a comeback, you need to be on the keys! Brilliant once again. Also I was on the fence between Noire and Keyscape pianos on which was my fav. They both have merits and are both phenomenal vsts. How far they have come. Stock Logic piano were once the gotos and Ivory back in the day.
Thanks! I would be honored haha
Im waking up at 7 tomorrow, but just watched this video from 12-1, it was too good.. Your playing is fantastic!!! My 18th birthday is next week and as my parents were asking me what I wanted I just said that this is all I want. And I could not be more excited. I looove myself some nice Rhodes and hearing this makes me so excited to try them out myself. I have played one real Rhodes before and that thing blew me away. I've been watching your stuff for over a year, but have never commented anything.
thanks for following for over a year!
Dude you are absolutely fabulous on the keys! Very deceptive with the beard! You’re like a classically trained biker dude which at the flip of a switch can easily lay down some funk and jazz! Bro I dig you! You’re awesome!!!!!!
hahaha, thanks!
you're my favorite youtuber man. your musical sensitivity speaks to me, you understand feel in voicing and harmony in a strong way
thanks!!
I need at least a 1 hour long video of you just jamming 😍 Incredible playing! Keep it up!
Maybe one day!
Just got it today and this is one of those plugins that sound better than I expected.
I'm always a bit dissapointed with new VST Instruments , but not this.
Even after watching the promo videos for years I am still suprised! Going to have a lot of fun with this. 0 regrets, do regret not buying it sooner like you did.
It's the best option if you don't have space or money for the real thing and the extra instruments sound as professional.
Glad you got it!
Great playing, huge part of any piano sounding good is the person playing it and you do a great job of showcasing these instruments. I would love to see you compare this with NI's similar offerings. I love all NI's products but sometimes feel other series out there are better able to bring out that crisp quality sound
ahhh. I miss the days of how many keyboards can you stack in a live rig....and then try to play live. Keyscape is a winner for sure. So many great...great sounds from this! Thanks for sharing this!
I miss it too, granted I'm only 30 lol
For me in this library you find all the tones of our lives, from Elton John, Cristina Aguilera, Frank Sinatra, all the 80s and 90s tones, and you reconize them!! Nice video Sam!!
Well said!
I never want to see another one of your videos, Sam!
…until the next one that is, cuz they’re awesome and I dig ‘em!!
:)
Amazing technology. Amazing sounds. And the price is totally reasonable. It's just... unless you are a professional composer/performer.... too many sounds. I don't know what I would do with them all. I'd just like to get a decent sound out of my keyboard that sounds like a real piano.
Great playing too, Mr. BeardGuy
Thank you for the Keyscape post. Just purchased mine and can’t wait to use it! Oh and thanks for the Roy Hargrove snippet of Strasbourg St. Denis. I’ve been debating on Keyscape for a year now but I’m truly convinced!
Thanks!
You're an absolute fucking beast on those keys! I hope you'll upload a video talking about your musical journey and, if you're into that, some theory/technique tutorials for us mere mortals :D
hahaha, I'm thinking about doing some practice videos
Awesome video. In depth review. Lengthy video. Spectacular piano skills. Dog chilling in the background. 10/10.
Thanks!!
Absolutely great review, thank you! And you're great piano player as well, which is an awesome bonus to the video👏🏼
thank you!!!
You deserve more subscribers. Your church is blessed to have you.
Thank you! I'm working on it
I did the same with Trillion. I've had omnisphere and keyscape for years but always brushed off Trillian cause of price then bought it and use it on everything now. I will say if you get any of the spectrasonics stuff, use an SSD for sure and transfer your steam folder to it. The better the drive the faster it loads/runs. I got the samsung T7 and it works just as fast as it did on my new macbook internall SSD.
good comment. It's worth shelling out a few extra dollars for SSD, especially if you're streaming stuff like Keyscape
@@SamTheBeardGuy I had the complete opposite experience. Transferring the Keyscape library to my external T7 SSD caused each patch to take 30-45 mins to load. Switched back to the internal SSD on the Mac Mini and have had zero issues since.
@@gabriel_levi consider the kind of cable you use, and the kind of USB port you use, or if you use a bad USB hub, which shares bandwidth in a fixed manner.
@@gabriel_levi newer macs read and write speeds are 2000+mbs while the T7 "practical" read and write are max 800mbs max if I'm not wrong. Not sure if the keyscape needs that fast a speed though
Really excellent demo video, thanks so much. Keyscape is insanely amazing - so tempting to invest in this - and your playing is fantastic!
Thank you!
33:46 Strasbourg St Denis! One of my favorites! RIP Roy Hargrove
seriously, RIP.
LOL. You are literally the only person who ever slept on Keyscape... Other than me! LOL. I said the same thing "meh, I have enough pianos. It can't be any better than what I have." The shear scope and quality of the instruments, though...! I will say, though, KeySuite by UVI may be the better deal IMO; equal quality but more quantity, piano variety, and variation. For Rhodes/Wurlitzer alone, though, Acoustic Samples Wurli, V-Tines, and V-Reeds always demand my attention. Lord, I musically love the era we live in!
I want to try KeySuite for sure, everyone keeps talking about it.
@@SamTheBeardGuy Man, other than the simplistic layout, lack of an elaborate GUI, and a few sounds needing minor adjustments ('75 Rhodes & a couple Wurlis. Heads up), it sounds ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! They've done the Yamaha CP series like no one before and 'Tender Upright' is literally the piano sound I have been looking for my entire life!
Awesome channel. Just found your stuff. So refreshing to see somebody talk about piano stuff in layman's terms! Also, love the beard.
Welcome aboard!

Sam - found you via your brilliant "fixing" Miss CPAC SIngers rendition of the National Anthem....and am staying for your keyboard skills and one of my favorite things....messing around with digital "voices". Have had a rough 2 months...and I needed a respite. Thanx much!
thanks for watching! Hope you're doing better
Beautiful sounding piano library. Superbly played. Great presentation. I also own several alternative libraries including the Pianoteq. I’ve always been impressed with Keyscape but not quite made the leap to purchase yet! It sounds to have massive depth and great tone.
yes I love it. Worth the buy. Hope you end up enjoying it.
Thanks for putting your time into it. Didn't appreciate that you were rushing through when you were reaching half of the library. Seemed like you loved playing your favorite instruments and settings but didn't care about anything else the plugin has to offer. Maybe my expectation wasn't met. I expected a walkthrough of all instruments after what you said in the beginning, so maybe you can take that into account for future videos that the things one might expect and the things you actually present don't go too much to different directions. If I had gotten the expectation in the beginning that it's gonna be your favorite sounds/instruments and then a quick run through the enormous library which unfortunately couldn't be covered completely due to its size, then I would have hit that like button for sure. :)
I set this expectation at 2:20. I said I was going to go through as many as I can, that I would breeze through some of the later ones, and hit the core ones. I have multiple Keyscape videos so check those out if you're looking for more in-depth stuff.
@@SamTheBeardGuy Thank you so much for taking your time again so quickly and correcting me on my false obversavtion!
You inspired me man. I'm about to buy my first piano, I wasn't sure if I wanted to go through the hardwork of learning how to play - but you've made me see that it's so fulfilling to put your heart and soul into it. Hope I can one day play as amazingly as you do. You deserve at least a million subs man!

Came for Pianoteq, found this package very interesting too! Like your cunning, playful and experimenting attitude!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Welcome to the club! Arturia V Collection 8 is also decent! You are excellent, man!
I've heard a lot of good things about that too, just haven't checked it out.
Analog Lab V is pretty good it came free with my Arturia MKII 61 Black model with the purchase, DX7 is my favorite one tho.
@@rios_5314 i like their Organs and synths! I really like that the parameters offered allow for so much flexibility in terms of how you want to design your sounds!
Your voice is great bro, no need to hold back.
Hahaha, well. I get mixed reviews on my voice lol
@@SamTheBeardGuy You get mixed reviews? Half of the reviewers must be tone deaf. An effortless falsetto that sounds amazing even when you're just noodling around? 34:07 - 35:00 was the best!
I could play on the Grand Piano variations all night. In fact, I did! 😄 Piano is breathtaking
Keyscape is beautiful...BUT. After comparing it with Pianoteq I went with the latter. The physical modelling tech seems to have caught up big time, and through tweaking some settings I was always able to get EXACTLY the sound I wanted, which brought it's sound just a cut above keyscape.. Not to mention in a much lighter weight package.
Fair enough!
I think Pianoteq's responsiveness will always win, it's amazing.
because if a physical modeling can moidel a instrucment,it always wins the sampleing instrucment
Pianoteq is awesome! Especially love that they have the Blüthner piano which has a great sound
Your playing is really making me sleep man!!! Such a divine melody your hands are offering! Man!
thanks!!
Loving the rendition of King of Kings, man. Wish more keys players had your talent!
Hahaha, thank you thank you
You’ve given me plenty of reasonable reasons to cash out~ chiefly that i have heard probably every reason that drew me to the keyz in the first place~ whether from a ‘Hall & Oats tune”, Michael Mcdonald etc & on and on…thanks for playing so well and inspiring~you are pretty solid in your passion der bruh🎉

This product sounds so good! Your playing sold it.
I love it!
I recently bought Keyscape and love it! Unfortunately, one cannot buy this kind of talent. Great job Sam! I'm subscribed.
Thank you very much!
Great video. I just bought the Hammer88... Love it! Currently just using FL Studio for sounds and recording. I'm looking hard at this software, though.
First off, I have Omnisphere, Keyscape, Trilian, and a few sound sets. Any time Eric brings out a new product I just say "take my money". He should contact you about doing demos for his products. That is some of the best playing. I could listen to you play for hours. If you ever do put out a series of lessons, or even tips and tricks, I'd be first in line. I'm 62 and have been playing (by ear) since I was 13 years old in bands and recording. I can only dream to be able to play like you. I don't have left/right hand independence and am not sure how to get past that. If you happened to record your performance as a midi track I'd give anything for a copy to pick apart and try to cop some of those licks and voicings. BTW, I can tell you sing great when you need to. Good luck and add me as another subscriber. Not sure where you've been hiding on RUclips, but glad I found you! Thanks for the inspiration!
Thank you Brad! I just started posting again so content will be coming. I'm definitely thinking about doing some lessons and stuff, a lot of people seem to be asking for it.
Ah yes... @34:17 strasbourg st denis. The most overplayed but yet always satisfying jam session tune in Los Angeles. I can't wait to bust out all of the old overplayed favorites when this quarantine is over. Including Beatrice in 7, I can't Help it, Butterfly, terrence blanchard's footprints, and let's not forget when the vocalist comes up to do Gnarls Barkley's Crazy
love playing this tune in LA, when I call it in NYC, everyone looks at me funny 😆
@@sebastianblue you gotta call tunes like Inner Urge in New York
I just bought it!!! It's going to be a Good Friday but from what I hear, well worth it's price.
Enjoy!
Really nice overview of Keyscape! It's been on my radar for a long time as well so you may have finally motivated me to buy it. haha Also, I've been playing piano for a few years and your playing really blows me away. You've really inspired me to want to get better but honestly I'm unsure how to get to a professional level of playing. It would be really awesome if you could make a video about practice and just getting better at piano in general! :) Anyway, awesome video! You've got a new subscriber
I might do that, thanks!
Fantastic job featuring Keyscape. Awesome playing as well!
OMG.. Keyscape is awesome!! Make sure to have a second drive to keep the libraries, and lots of RAM (16 or more)
It's definitely more intensive than a lot of libraries!
@@SamTheBeardGuy Yeah... Right now I store the libraries on a second hard drive, but I feel I really should get a dedicated SSD for it so that it loads faster. It takes a minute or so to load the LA C7 Grand - its worth the wait, def!!!
Yes! Such a talented dude! had to sub! had keyscape for years now but you really showcase even more potential of it! buying omnisphere soon.
Thanks for the sub!
Thanks for this wonderful review. What would be incredible useful for us programming in midi, would be to see the velocities when you play in chords. E.g. are the low notes hit as hard as the notes, or vide versa etc? Would be so great if you recorded ballad type piano parts and then let us see the velocities! :)
Oooo, that's deep. I don't even know how I would display or how to make that possible haha.
Amazing playing, amazing sounds and I absolutely loved the Strasbourg St Denis reference as well!!

Hey, I see you're using the M-audio Hammer 88. I bought one to learn with and haven't regretted it. what's your opinion on this bad boy, would love to hear your thoughts.
Hey Travis. I loved the way it felt. I actually just swapped it out for a studiologic sl-88, solely because the m-audio keyboard wouldn't slide underneath on my tray. I mismeasured it somehow. But it felt great. Velocity on the top end felt a little mushy.
@@SamTheBeardGuy Thanks for giving me your opinion, it is nice to know how people with piano skills feel about this thing.
I ended up buying the m-audio due to literally all digital pianos (in the $600-$1000 price range) and the studio logic sl88 are sold out across Canada. I am glad to see others using it, it's reassuring.
@@SamTheBeardGuy lel, I'm about to buy the SL-88 Grand, because it perfectly fits under my new desk. And I think I prefer the keybed over the one in the S88/Keylab 88.
Great video! Some of the sounds man... they make me want to cry: I should probably buy it.
Would love to hear a little about your musical journey and how you've learnt/practised. I'm self-taught so it's always super cool to hear how other musicians do it!
Appreciate your content
that's a great idea! I might add to the list of video ideas, especially if more people start following my page
The price will make you cry, too. Expensive, but IMO absolutely the very best. Omnisphere 2 practically eliminates the need to ever buy another virtual synth, whilst Keyscape takes care of all your regular keyboard needs. Best of all, they work with each other - Omnisphere 2 creates some very beautiful sounds with Keyscape plugged into its synth engine. I've had them both for years and I've barely scratched the surface with either.
Clavinet demo. Use Stevie's "Superstition" or Sly's "Thank You"
The piano doesn't sound good. It is you that makes it sound good. Such wonderful and lovely piano playing and expression.
Thanks! What don't you like about the piano sound?
@@SamTheBeardGuy No no, I said it incorrectly. What I meant to say was it isn't so much as the piano sounding good or not itself, but that it is more so your playing that makes the software instrrument sound better. Gosh I hope that made sense...haha.
But, if I were to judge this piano, I would have to say it has a very hard bite sound as in mid/bright and perhaps a tad harsh. It isn't overly displeasing but to my ears and for my ears, I find it hard. I have tried many of these libraries and I found the Noire to still be on top. Second is the CFX Concert Grand by Garritan. However, I will at times layer the sounds as some pianos like Keyscape, Pianoteq, or even EZKeys are very bright at the top end while Noire has amazing recorded bottom end and a warmer sound overall. It really all comes down to personnel preference as they all sound great in their own right while on the other hand, some sound hard and clunky. These particular unfavorable piano sounds can be heard on some digital keyboards for example. Many piano libraries seem to work better when placed in their own suitable genre when developed. Still, they can all be used in a mixture of different libraries perhaps to create an array of experimental sounds and tones. And I'm sure you would agree, that nothing can or will ever champion over a genuine acoustic grand piano even though this isn't about acoustic instruments.
Again though, your playing is so very fluent and smooth. I would love to have that ability in the style of jazz as you demonstrated.

I want to be able to make better melodies and understand more about music in general. Thanks!
Even if you don't intend to be a sight reader, I encourage you to learn scales, intervals and chords. But I would strongly suggest you to learn what in my country is known as "musical perception". It seems in the US it's called "ear training". That would be your best bet.
