Hope you all enjoy! All the relevant links are in the description. Thanks again to my wonderful guest :) Also, go easy on me it's my first time doing this😭but if anyone wants to go through and count up all of my "uhh"s and "umm"s to rack up watch time and comments I won't stop you lmao
My favorite thing about Orre Colosseum isn't Orre Colosseum standard play, it's the subformats and the support they are given by the community. Journey Across America is my favorite, glad to hear it get a mention in the video; the Japanese scene has started playing more JAA and I'm excited for an upcoming exhibition between our JAA community and theirs. There are also a slew of other subformats (we did "no legendaries allowed" as a format before official VGC did!) that each get their turn to have their shine, whether it's higher powered stuff like GS Cup or as low powered as what's essentially Little Cup in VGC form! Even our least popular subformat would still get players trying to respond to games for the one guy trying to play it last year and now we are even going to have a tournament with prizing for it. There really is a lot of different things to play for anyone looking to swing by, I love that we don't limit ourselves to just one thing.
Wow! What a great video! It made me nostalgic for my favorite gen 3 feature, contests. Oh I do hope they'll make a fan format for that, I will be waiting, in the darkness, in the corner of your eye, in the moments you feel safest, I will be waiting (But like in a really girlypop way!!) Did they add contests in BDSP? Oh boy oh boy I hope they did! That would be oh so splendid until then remember be waiting ♡
Amazing video! My favorite thing about the format is the mid-turn switches after KOs. The amount of plays that become possible thanks to this one mechanic is hard to understate, and makes me want to never play any other Doubles generation.
It's funny - thanks to the Orre Cup, gen 4 is now the most niche VGC format - since VGC as a whole was very obscure compared to Smogon formats in that era, and pretty much all current players started in BW or later, you basically never hear anything about the DPP format! (Well, I guess GSC Nintendo Cup might technically be more obscure, but it has much less of an identify considering it's singles.)
That's quite interesting. Afaik there also wasn't really a community for Gen 4 and Gen 5 VGC, so people from the Orre Colosseum community got together to make a discord server for that, but I'm not involved in that myself.

XD and the Orre region as a whole is a part of Pokemon I NEED Nintendo to revisit. Thanks for giving it the spotlight. Great video!
Thanks again for having me and for making this video! It was a blast to have these battles with you :)

Big up the subformats, Orre is so much richer than just the standard format
Definitely need more games like Colosseum and XD

Funnily enough, some japanese players do competitive contests as side events at their irl Gen 3 tournaments.
I really miss Colosseum.
Great video nice job.
