@@supremecy187 Accounting is the language of business. Understanding it is crucial for any department head/executive of any business. Crucial if you want to start your own business. And you can become a CPA and make twice as much as the average business admin major if you want to go the W-2, 9-5 route.
@@johngerring2505 That's what I mean though the CPA is what you would need to get that high salary. The CPA is a very difficult exam and not everyone wants to become an accountant. Heck there's accountants that don't want to take the CPA exam.
I have a bachelor’s degree in “Business Administration,” & I make around $60,000. I get a 3 week vacation, bonus, benefits (medical, vision & dental). I work for a marketing company, & my degree definitely helped!! I sure don’t hate the decision😬👏
As a business administration degree graduate I highly suggest it. Quite honestly I picked the career based on not having many more options to choose from but I do not regret the decision. It has given me the notion, the vision, maturity and the knowledge of the responsibility and commitment that running any business means. No matter how much effort it might require, it is still worth getting that degree.
Business degrees also lay the foundation for running your own business and managing your finances. A useful degree for all fields, health, arts, communications, tech..etc. You can do anything with a BBA or BSBA. Also, it matures with you as your interests change and you grow as a person.
This major is also safe to go into debt for. It has a huge return on investment. You won’t master the fields examined in the major, but one of the first lessons in Business Administration is that it “educates the entire man...the body, soul and spirit” You work with things, with people and you create connections, value for others which in turns makes you wealthy in the process”

@@Mazjms I'm a business administration student right now and as the guy in the video said you kind of learn about all aspects of the business. You study accounting, finance, IT, HR management, business management, environmental sustainability, micro/macro economics. I find it to really be an all encompassing course and it really help you understand all of the ways in which a business functions
Great degree for those who dont know the specific job they want. This allows you the flexibility to move around gain experience and narrow down your career path. Anything u can learn for free is fine but it wont come with a diploma which is what good paying companies want. Google does not equal experience or look good on a resume. This degree gets u in the job then u can refine ur skills with experience. Grad school is a great option to further ur career into ur specific interest once u find it and opens doors for upper management and increased pay. This degree gives u these options so ur not stuck with a degree or job u no longer r interested in after a few years. I have a BA bachelor degree and a master's in management. This video has some decent info but to really understand the pros and cons talk to professionals with real world knowledge and experience who have this degree.
I have no clue what i wanna do in terms of a job or career, some of us are so lost I've been thinking about doing a bachelor's in business admin because i gotta do something.
@@jeennys8256 lol hi! sorry I'm just getting back to you. But my first year in university just ended a month ago and Im doing business administration with a concentration (double major) in marketing and analytics!
I have a BS in business administration (major accounting) and an MBA (concentration analytics). I’ve been in the financial industry for 8 years, and earn over 100k. With anything, education matters… and so does intangibles. Be a good person, network, and be a free agent. Look out for your career… And you’ll go far.
@ F Y Yes, some functions can be… and have been replaced with process automation and to a lesser extent machine learning. Technology is advancing and as that becomes faster the roles in finance will become a little more specialized; however, we’re a little ways off from full end to end payment processing, fully automated controls, control monitoring, control testing, and assurance. So, there’s still a lot of career stability and job security… For now.
Yes it is worth it. There is a reason why the MBA degree is the most sought after . If you fail in the corporate world, you can automatically start your own business, work in a non profit etc. The career tree is so huge.
You should make a series where you compare 2 degrees that’s close to each other and give it a winner. Like finance vs accounting, electrical vs mechanical engineering, CS vs software engineer. ETC
This video made me study Business and Information Degree at Namibia University of Science and Technology, and the truth is that I don't regret it. One of the flexible degrees especially in Africa with high unemployment. Thank you Shane Hummus
Thats the point. I have been in business school for bsc accounting and finance + MBA. Business studies are the best for people wanting to be generic without any inclination. All those fields can be learnt on the job (like many other majors) but if you dont have a passion for natural or humanities sciences its a very good decision. Because being honest you cant finish majors like biology or engineering if you dont like the field a lot, while in business its more socially oriented so unless you are totally dumb and antisocial you will like some classes without having an inborn talent.
@@vasilisronal8092 yea that’s why I’m leaning so much towards it I’m currently going for a general Business degree so I can be flexible for mainly everything I don’t wanna specialize in accounting or finance learning a little bit of everything is what I want .
@@nixc71 to be honest that's why it's weird when people say ba is not specialized. With the electives no one gets all fields equally, it's just up to you, but you do specialize. Message me if you have any questions about classes.
@@vasilisronal8092 I wanted to go to college for Business Administration but the issue I’m facing is that my school offers BA but through Public Administration because BA doesn’t have a specific major at the school so in that case I rather do what I’m doing now which is just a general business degree which I think will work in the long run hopefully
Honestly if you are looking to get a corporate job dont even bother. I went to community college for an associates degree in Business administration and before graduation started my own LLC and is now doing really well. So its fantastic if you want to go entrepreneurship direction
im a business admin major right now(just finished 1st year), and ive always known this is what i wanted. personally ive always known that working a 9-5 until im 60 isnt my thing, and the plan for me has always been to get my major + masters and slot into a 9-5 for a few years until having enough capital to safely invest and be financially independent. ideally i want to be out of the 9-5 by 30 if not earlier, simply so i can experience life for what it is and not be constrained by a corporate machine. being a jack of all trades and master of few has made it so that by nature i like to have my fingers in multiple pots at once just to have a few different options and failsafes, as well as keeping my mind active. and while business admin is a very general degree, i can even see as much from my first two semesters, it allows for you to really find your own way to getting the degree and open up new doors for yourself that may not have even crossed your mind in the past. for me personally, as well as a few of my friends, getting this degree serves as a means to an end rather than the end all. and its not abt chasing a lifestyle or a far off fantasy, rather its about creating a life for myself that is better than the one im living; better than the one my parents have lived, and bringing up those around me who ive formed irreplaceable bonds with. and if i happen to change the world along the way, then great. but if i dont then thats okay with me, bc ill have affected some lives even if not as immediately as i once hoped.
Business Admin degree here from USC Marshall. Doing very well/very satisfied tbh. Most of my classmates are now happily working in Investment Banking/Marketing. I think where you get your Business degree (or connection) matters more and what types of internship you do during your college years matter the most. Haas School or Stern School grads are doing really well in the Tech sector.
I dropped out my first year of college while majoring in Business Administration so I could dial in on my e-commerce business, specifically Amazon FBA. The other reason why I left was because I asked my professor how much they made in business. At the time I had the mentality that I wasn’t going to listen to anyone that didn’t at least make 1mill +, and hearing that my professor never made the amount or really any substantial amount really sealed the deal for me, plus I had to take some algebra class which I thought was pretty idiotic and useless, since my entire time in business, I’ve only used basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. I’ve learned a lot about business by actually getting into business. But looking back i definitely think I should’ve stayed so i could land a job and use the money from the job to help further fund my business ventures in more aggressive ways.
Hey man, I’m currently in a similar position as you. When you can, I’m wondering how you are doing now. How is your Amazon FBA doing and do you regret dropping out?
@@david.amuiki I'm doing quite well actually. Just moved to downtown Austin a few months ago while working as a PPC manager for an agency while also growing my amazon brand.
@@21MunozX Don't regret it all. Life is too short to go through with things you don't want to do. I launched my 4th product a few months back and it's generating me a healthy amount. Financially I'm also working for an Amazon Agency as a PPC manager so I'm paying my bills through that. I wouldn't have gotten the job if I didn't go all in with Amazon.
I think most colleges offer a “emphasis” so you can get a Business admin degree with a emphasis in operations, logistics, marketing and ect. The emphasis will help a lot but you will still have the same or similar flexibility.
I graduated with a bachelor's in Business Administration, focus in International Business... aaaaand it's been a journey thus far. Keep your head up, everything has a way of working itself out!
Did you graduate with that degree because you wanted to travel? Not gonna lie, international business sounds interesting mainly because of the travel part, but I bet you’re on the move the whole time going to meetings and doing presentations
I majored in business administration with a major in business administration (general business) with honors back in may 2019. Got offered a few assistant manager jobs at retail stores with a low pay salary. Ive been currently working in the oil fields earning good money but I have no job security. I’m registering back to college with a major in nursing instead and while I’m in college I’m going to apply to the border patrol academy. The reason why I’m going back to college is because I’m afraid I won’t pass the polygraph test since many fail so I have a plan b being a nursing degree. In my opinion, it all depends where you live at; I live in South Texas surrounded by many small towns and cities and the only jobs available here are teaching law-enforcement and nursing. If you live in a big city go for it if not major in something else like engineering or the jobs mentioned above. Businesses administration with a major in Accounting is good only if you are planning to get cpa license if not it’s really not worth it. Unless again you live in a big city I have a college buddy who majored in buss accounting who already has 4 plus years as experience and only gets $18 an hour with 40 hours a week. I’m currently making 22 dollars an hour and I work 60 hours a week. Good luck to everyone I hope you find success.
I'm Business major with a concentration in Management and I was shocked I had to get through Calc 1 and 2 and Business analytics is probably one of the harder classes I've had to take going through the school so make sure you do research when you are looking at schools you want to go to for your majors! as always great vid!
Sort of. At CSU's, business administration/management is the concentration of a 'business degree', which is an umbrella term that encompasses all the elements of business. The two highest paying business degree's in my opinion (excluding real estate/eCommerce), is managerial and marketing.
It's so hard to find good advice nowadays so I really appreciate your channel. What are your thoughts on freelancing? Also things like starting your own business versus working your way up a company.
Working your way up in a company early is the best bet. You would be able to save a lot more money to eventually turn into a self-proprietor. Also, don’t forget you will make possible life changing connections in the company. Don’t work for a company forever, at most 10 years. Ageism against older workers is still a big thing, what are they to do if fired? They depended too long on a company.
After getting an associates in business administration from my local community college I didn't feel any more prepared to enter the workforce than I did before the degree. I knew a little bit about a to of different areas like accounting, marketing, managing, etc, but not enough about any one of them to apply for a job. I'm taking bookkeeping classes now through Penn Foster and I already feel far more prepared to enter the workforce as a bookkeeper
Yeah, I can see that. I'm currently working in accounts payable for the past 7 years and I'm getting a degree just to get paid more and apply within to be noticed because just working for my company isnt enough. I make $26 now after getting a counter offer because I was going to leave for a better opportunity.
As guy like me, I’m getting ready to graduate in Business Administration. I really appreciate this video! I really don’t know how this video popped up but I’m really glad it did ! Thank you so much
I hope to have my bachelor's in Business Administration fall 2021 and so far I can say it's been great and I don't regret it at all. In fact I hope to get my MBA soon after. I will say nearly all Business Administration degrees have minors to concentrate in. For example my degree is Business Administration and Law with a minor in management. And to get that minor was only 2 extra classes. Definitely talk to your advisor about minions they're eaiser to get than you think
In the field of business I was deciding between Accounting or Supply Chain Management for quite some time and I finally made up my mind and decided to go with Supply Chain. I have a business admin degree. There are some things you should know - You will 100% be sitting in a cubical for the first 3-5 years. No way around it. If that doesn't fit your style, then I'd suggest a degree that will put you out in the field more. Cube life is.. Ok.. for most. 99% of business admin majors consider themselves lucky to score an actual office. Consider a business admin degree as a way to branch off into a specialization with a masters. I've gone through masters programs and most (STEM unlikely) will take a business admin degree. I'd suggest to major in business admin if you plan a specialized focus in a masters degree. Far too often it seems that a business admin degree might as well be a "general major" degree. In other words, it's a "congrats on your extremely basic degree plan..". Lot's of people choose business admin. Use this degree as a stepping stone toward a specialization. Otherwise you will be on the $50k - $65k (tops) portion. Trust me, business admin has its perks, but it is historically given to students who don't know 'exactly' what they want to do.

One of my best friends is majoring in Human Resources Management, would love to see you do that major because I haven't heard much about it aside from what she's told me.
I'm a senior high school students and next year I will go to college. I'm planning to take business administration but I lack knowledge about so thank you for posting this I learned a lot about this degree.
You learn a lot as a you progress through it though, so I think you will be okay. I don't know what part of the world you live in, and what the course structure is but I imagine it isn't all that different. I am Australian studying a Certificate 3 in Business and I've learnt so much since studying this course in the last 6 months. I started work in Local Government last year, in the Finance department of all areas, had no clue what I was doing and didn't think I would even last. I had a lack of knowledge of anything business related, infact I came into my job with zero skills or qualifications, but rather a strong desire to give it a go and work hard. While my official role is in Accounts Receivable, I am also currently training in Payroll, both of which are in my course structure. My workplace set a group of us ladies up studying the Cert 3 in Business so they could upskill staff. I am lucky to live in a rural area of Australia to have this opportunity, because I know I would never have gotten an opportunity like this living in the city. I am almost half way through the Cert 3 now, but already looking forward to building on it at University when I complete it.

I agree that it’s too generous and while it can offer you a lot of flexibility, it can also leave you feeling a bit lost in your career path or that you are not qualified for many more specific fields like marketing, accounting, etc. So, eventually you will end up shaping your career path through experience and complementary studies.
I'm now on my 4th year of BSBA and I don't have any regrets taking that course except it's not align on my passion and interests (fashion, beauty, art, entertainment) but BSBA is a good choice if you are someone who wants to be practical and wants to have a lot of opportunities and flexibility when it comes to career choices.
I understand that business administration is too general. I understand its broad but the more you know the better. I don't want to major in accounting or finance. It's cool but I rather know more than just accounting and finance.
That's why you can graduate from a bachelor degree on business and still minor (specialized in an area within your field of study such as finance, accounting, etc). Specialized Business Administration degree is more appreciated on the business world than just a degree on Business Administration.
Here in Ontario Canada the business administration degrees are pretty cool because the first 2 year they teach you all the areas like accounting, finance, marketing, HR, management and ect basically broad bussiness and than you have to choose which one you want to specialize in for your final 2 years.
But the issue is you don't know more content, you just know a wider variety of content at a lower level. Specializing is how you get success. Finding that one small niche (like accounting or finance) that you're just an expert in. You're still going to take a wide variety of business courses (at my school the difference between a business and finance degree is like 12 different classes) but you're going to learn specialized info that enables you to have almost guaranteed employment after undergrad. You don't "know more" information because you do Business Admin, you actually end up knowing less, just about a wider variety of topics. The difficulty of accounting and finance courses are also well respected and employees in other business sectors respect candidates who get them.
@@dionit.2287 so do you mean graduating with a business administration degree in general business and a minor in let’s say, marketing or management? My school has “general business” and other BA paths like management, finance, accounting, management, and marketing
@@SirAuron777 Your school may not be a 4 years one if it doesn't offer minors, you have a bachelor's and a minor in two different things. Yes, that exactly what I meant by minor. Glad I stumbled on this video. I am currently entering 2nd year in BSBA (Bachelor of Science in Business Administration). From here, I am going to have a qualification exam to three majors presented to us: Marketing, Operations Management and HR. I might plan on choosing either HR or Marketing Management.
why do you need an MBA to start a business? I think MBA is more focused on how to run the business at large corporations, it is definitely not about startups
Being that your a CS graduate, you would probably be much better to specialise in an area that you want your business/startup to focus on rather then doing a business/mba degree if your thinking of doing further study. However to be honest with you, you probably already have the skills to start a venture, if anything maybe find a co-founder and a problem to solve, the more personal, the better. However if your looking for a resource, then I recommend YC Startup School.

Also, you can get a Master's in CS and just take a few business classes as well. During my Master in CS I took DIgital Marketing and Management classes as electives. The Masters in CS will add more credibility to you while you ll be looking for investors
Hey Shane, great insight! How do you think Business Administration with a concentration in operations and supply chain or global supply chain management fairs?
hahaha, no it doesn't, unless you are doing a masters with a STEM undergrad under your belt. Outside accounting and stuff that are automated, it limits you to jobs you can get with a GED or high school diploma. It's not quantitative enough for data science. Programming is too weak for cs jobs, you have no credits for medical, you can't do engineering, and you can't do many other things. It also locks you out of the skilled trades. It is the definition of a worthless degree.
@@anasg007 You can be a lawyer with a business degree just not out of undergrad, but your better off taking econ with accounting classes for pre-law. CPA + Law School is actually a really good option that unlocks tons of doors, but the journey to achieve this is a headache compared to working in the trades and being a plumber.
Hey Shane I’m a senior in highschool and I’ve been looking to study cyber engineering! Could you do a video about it I would love to hear you talk about it
i finished my bachelors degree in business administration, with a focus on general management, in december 2019 then covid happened a few months later so i haven’t been able to find a job with it yet. i also find it hard because i don’t have any real experience. last summer, i began my MBA program so hopefully that’ll help me but i don’t think i can wait that long. i’ll be pushing 30 when i finish (i was a late college graduate) and i just want to start my career now
Make sure you just land at least 2 internships before you finish that mba and youll land jobs left and right. I havnt graduated yet but received 5 job offers in a months with 3 internships. Also I would really pick up different positions within the school so that you gain some experience that you can talk about when they interview you and ask you behavioral questions. Also another tip is that if your mba school allows you to go more specific into a business area take it. Be as emphasised in a certain area thats what most companys want from you.
No it’s not. My friend got a business administration degree and can’t find a job cuz it’s too general. It’s better to specialize in a particular field.
Hey shane, I’m not sure where I should comment this. I hope you see this, though! From the super extensive online research I have done online (in regards to computer science (and eventual software development) there are significant downsides which are hardly spoken about. For example- The fact that it is one of the hardest degrees, the cs major path is extremely linear (meaning will do something like compsci 1, with college algebra, then compsci 2, with trigonometry, etc...meaning everything builds upon itself so not only is it crucial to try and get good grades for these courses but you have to basically memorize the first math courses you started with (freshman year) till like senior year. Also people don’t seem to mention, you don’t/can’t get a software development job right out of college without coding experience (aka meaning you need to not only do a hardcore major, and memorize it all, but you also have to learn programming languages, and as if that wasn’t enough the majority recommend getting into an intership while in college. So compare that to a normal college student, or even an engineer who has insanely hard classes, and instead you have a huge plate to handle for being a succesful cs student. Imagine trying to balance hard schoolwork and memorizing it all, then having to learn code (maybe a coding club), and then having to work an internship) it’s obvious as to why they get paid so much, and why the dropout rate is so high, regardless of how many times it pops up everywhere online. CS has almost nothing to do with software development all it teaches is theoretical knowledge on computers (mathematics a lot) where as a software developer mainly codes, and does problem solving. They need to change the curriculum and situation to be a different major and study, because it’s horrible. Imagine learning about business law throughout school (theoretically speaking) to get a job as an accountant. You won’t actually know how to be an accountant, and you’ll probably have went through hell trying to learn all the legalities of businesses for absolutely nothing.
In Malaysia, business mgt degree is the most popular programme because most companies requires person with this qualification....basically, the programme enables a person to venture into various types of function in an organisation...eg human resource , communication, strategic planning and finance

I have a business degree and I honestly wish I'd done something specific to the business I'd like to open. You can learn everything to run a business online
That’s kind of where I am in thought process regarding this. Business/ 5:12 Accounting can be Learned on The Fly. Whereas how to design and create a gadget on the fly, most likely not
So I'm graduating with a bachelors in business management and honestly I feel underwhelmed and unprepared. It is so general. I took a bunch of intro classes. I feel like I know a little about everything, but not much about anything. If i ever go back to school I will focus on one subject.
The BBA is a foundation degree by nature. It's a great place to get your feet wet and get an introduction to all the key principles involved in business. And even if you don't end up starting your own business or working for one, most of the skills learned are transferrable to other fields. It's a solid choice in my opinion.

I'm in my third year and I have 7 classes left to graduate by June 2022 to earn my Associate's Degree, then I will transfer to a 4-year college to get my Bachelor's Degree.
@@hamzanasir5333 yes, some majors have options in it for a career path you are interested to take to earn your Associate's Degree in Bronx Community College.
Transfer to Buff State or UB after you get your associates bro 🙏🏼 I went to community college too and just graduated from Buff State with my bachelors in bus admin with a concentration in marketing! Apply for the excelsior scholarship if you qualify and keep your grades up! As a NY native, i think those schools are affordable and many people on campus are from the city too. Good luck on your journey!!
You are very lucky if you know what you want to do for your life when you apply for an undergraduate program, which is why business degree is valuable.
Im a BBA grad, from my experience the program was too broad and general. You touch on fundamentals of everything but not enough to build a specific technical skill set that employers seem to require. But with that said its very practical knowledge you walk away with that can be applied in any industry. My advice get a minor or cert along with your BBA to really get a competitive advantage.

I have a business Administration degree, I’ve always worked in banking and investments. Would do this degree again if I did it over honestly, I like how it covers a bit of everything such as Econ, accounting, management, finance, marketing etc…
Engineering graduates say bachelor degree is not worth it cause "its too broad" or "u become a jack of all trades and master of none" and then later in their career they go do a mba which is a "broad business degree", the hypocrisy.
I feel like what you do with your degree and the material you learned can make or break you. Business admin on its own can be too general but it allows you to specialize, start your own business, invest, etc
Honestly, I was just thinking about this. I am a Business administration with a concentration in International Business student in my 3rd year. I get that it is really general thinking back to the courses I took. I feel like I am not doing enough for my degree. I am learning Korean and Japanese. I did a study abroad for 6 months in Tokyo and planning for another semester in another country. I am just kinda confused for the future aaaaah i feel like every 3rd year feels like this
Umm hii, i am a high school student about to go into university from September 2021... (haven't cleared the exams yet) I had a look into various universities and courses, and found one suitable for me. There's a dual specialisation course for business administration, with 4 options: Digital marketing HR management Small business startups Tourism and hospitality (We can choose any 2 for specializing with bba) But I dont have anything planned out for my future for the career stuff...so i dont really know which one would be better with digital marketing 🥲 Can you give your suggestions?
@@abida8047 I think Tourism and Hospitality would be the best with marketing. It would compliment each other well. When you are in marketing be sure to get a lot of experience. It's good to have a portfolio of what you have done. The overall best would be in management since you'll be more open to jobs. It would be really useful to have it. Either would be a good choice. :D always do more research on your own though :0 It's okay not to know right away. Many of my friends changed their major their first and second year at uni. Just be sure to do at least one internship ☺️ good luck!! I hope you enjoy university.
I have a degree in Engineering, 10 years later I opened my own business and I am going back to school to study BA maj in Management, to help me gain the basic knowledge of Business. I have also moved up into Management position at work already where my Engineering knowledge is of no use anymore and I felt like I need to learn more about Management skills.
Its simple actually, u want 80000 job, u do computer science or electrical engineering, u want 50000 job, u do business, u want higher salary, do certification in addition to business degree, u want something where the salary is out of control and will put your state in debt, u do nursing cause the union regulations demand a constant pay increase, pretty soon engineers will be making much less than nurses.
My business admin degree has an emphasis on logistics and supply chain management. I think that specific concentration gives it a little more attention, but that’s just been my experience. I’m actually a small business owner now, and my degree has been such and asset for managing all aspects of my business.
I'm graduating with Bachelor's in Business Admin with concentration in Accounting! So excited and happy because I want to be an Accountant- lol! Family is all accountants, they were happy and well-compensated, not too stressed either most of the time, so I think a Bachelors in Business (with a specific concentration like Accounting or Finance) is a great idea!! And like you said, the most important other thing is the actual experience at jobs relating to business.
thank you for doing these videos! I’ve watch a couple of them and thought long and hard and made my choice. I start in October and I’m really excited for my journey!
I'm about to graduate in Business and Computer Science and your points are spot on an exactly why I chose them. I'm a more technical guy who enjoys coding but have the soft skills to lead so it fits right into my goals. I've covered systems analysis, strategy, MIS, operations, and project management, all which compliments software engineering perfectly. The youtube algorithm really did wonders
As a 43 returning to school I want to warn alot of you that specializing is not the only career path. The specialist are always attached to a jack of all trade type person. There is room to thrive. Business Admin is perfect for me, I like the flexibility. also it's better to learn your skills in grad school. bachelor's are wide, masters are deep. I plan to study law next
@@Emily-ut7sm that’s awesome! I was in the middle of studying for law school and realized I don’t want to waste more years and money on another degree. It was appealing for awhile but I do best in flexible environments and they work way too many hours for me. I’m looking into being a business owner and investor.
Mine wound up being theory vs the real world of running my own medical supply biz shortly after college. Talk about having to do everything, the focus and time commitment required, no breaks, vacations or time to get well if sick. Just buck it up and keep going like the energizer bunny!!
My cousin got an MBA and she's a manager at some company that works with scientific lab work and outcomes, but she had links and knew the folks from that stead so I guess it uphangs on who you know and of course ones skillset. But if you don't have skills or afanding then it's going to be rather hard to find work. I would strongly ettle going for a specific field where the job outlook is high like accounting, finance(of course if the learner can do it and likes it) it's all about luck

It's a good degree for those who want to pursue a career in business but are not sure what exactly.
Accounting is pretty much always better
@@johngerring2505 You would need a CPA to get the most out of Accounting though.

No matter how much effort it might require, it is still worth getting that degree.

From What I’m looking at Business Administration degree is very very flexible in terms of jobs you can go to HR , Business , Sports Jobs , etc
Thats the point. I have been in business school for bsc accounting and finance + MBA. Business studies are the best for people wanting to be generic without any inclination. All those fields can be learnt on the job (like many other majors) but if you dont have a passion for natural or humanities sciences its a very good decision. Because being honest you cant finish majors like biology or engineering if you dont like the field a lot, while in business its more socially oriented so unless you are totally dumb and antisocial you will like some classes without having an inborn talent.

im a business admin major right now(just finished 1st year), and ive always known this is what i wanted. personally ive always known that working a 9-5 until im 60 isnt my thing, and the plan for me has always been to get my major + masters and slot into a 9-5 for a few years until having enough capital to safely invest and be financially independent. ideally i want to be out of the 9-5 by 30 if not earlier, simply so i can experience life for what it is and not be constrained by a corporate machine. being a jack of all trades and master of few has made it so that by nature i like to have my fingers in multiple pots at once just to have a few different options and failsafes, as well as keeping my mind active. and while business admin is a very general degree, i can even see as much from my first two semesters, it allows for you to really find your own way to getting the degree and open up new doors for yourself that may not have even crossed your mind in the past. for me personally, as well as a few of my friends, getting this degree serves as a means to an end rather than the end all. and its not abt chasing a lifestyle or a far off fantasy, rather its about creating a life for myself that is better than the one im living; better than the one my parents have lived, and bringing up those around me who ive formed irreplaceable bonds with. and if i happen to change the world along the way, then great. but if i dont then thats okay with me, bc ill have affected some lives even if not as immediately as i once hoped.
God bless you man amen 🙏🏾

Shane, aren’t nearly all business degrees “business administration” but with a concentration in something. At CSUs and UCs this is what I’ve noticed
It is like that at the university I attended for undergrad.
Yea lol, we take accounting, marketing, finance, etc. And also our emphasis.
Yeah they’re all BSBAs I have one in International Business
There's BADM then theres BSIS
Thanks James. I might make a video to answer that
Working your way up in a company early is the best bet.
Hey man I’m on the same boat do you recommend penn foster while you’re at a community college
Yeah, I can see that. I'm currently working in accounts payable for the past 7 years and I'm getting a degree just to get paid more and apply within to be noticed because just working for my company isnt enough. I make $26 now after getting a counter offer because I was going to leave for a better opportunity.

Does bba(finance) or bba in finance mean bba with a concentration/specialisation in finance? In which year do we choose our specialization or do we choose our specialization right at the point of admission? And when we choose specialisation in bba in say finance do we still get to study all the things that we would get to study in a bba general? Could you please answer these questions of mine??🥺🥺 I'm really strugglinglsd
Going back to college at the age of 32 and im super excited!
Im 32 and gonna enroll for free at colorado tech university thanks to working at mcdonalds..im scared i may quit working there due to the stress but most days i love the fast pace of fast food working.
At my college, you would take BBA but after some point you could focus on Finance, Marketing or Econ. BBA was like a filter for these.
Yea I believe a BBA with a specialization is much more effective than a general BBA
Thanks for sharing that
In our country there are areas of specialization to choose from. Not all BA are general. I agree with you.
Yea is it the same in USA?
@@Lazymath007_ yes it is I am currently attending the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay to obtain a BBA and I chose to specialize in marketing. UWGB has recently made marketing a specific major as well as finance and other well known areas. It will still be considered a BBA however, the major will still be marketing for me though which is what the diploma I receive will state when I graduate.
At 8:44 minute your absolutely right I started a french bulldog breeding business at 21 and I got my associates around 20 high risks but the reward is great, and I made more with the business than my last jobs in the last 5 years!
It's nice to know that there's are still people in the world with integrity
I have my associates in business administration and am on my bachelors now. Not every university had a finance option, for example mine has us pick two concentrations to work on and specialize that way, I chose finance and information systems and business analytics where you get a business analytics certificate as well. The market is just so saturated with people concentrating on marketing and management
Is this course worth it? I am also a management student and want to study BBA but im still not sure, i am torn between business analytics, MIS, BBA and marketing. I hate maths but i do like accouny and business in general. So please suggest me
Which university & country are you studying this programme.
One of my best friends is majoring in Human Resources Management, would love to see you do that major because I haven't heard much about it aside from what she's told me.
You can become an HR with an Business Admin degree
I wouldn’t call it “easy” and there’s quite a bit of math.
do you know which kind of math specfically?
@@bandman1718 statistics, discrete mathematics, accounting, finance. I'm also majoring in business administration and the hardest class I've taken is discrete mathematics (mathematics for business and social science).
There's also finite math, and applied business decisions (which is applied statistics)
im specialised on finance . so theres a lot of calculations and im dizzy just by looking at the numbers.. finance is not as easy as the rest of business administration
What about now? What do you think of BA
Your bachelor's can be in Business Administration and your minor in Marketing/Human Resources/ Finance. A minor is like expanding your knowledge about a part of your career.
I'm a CS graduate and I aspire to be an MBA this decade! Then I want to start a business. Wish me luck! 🍀
why do you need an MBA to start a business? I think MBA is more focused on how to run the business at large corporations, it is definitely not about startups
@@ofeliiabagratian5748 💯💯
Being that your a CS graduate, you would probably be much better to specialise in an area that you want your business/startup to focus on rather then doing a business/mba degree if your thinking of doing further study.
However to be honest with you, you probably already have the skills to start a venture, if anything maybe find a co-founder and a problem to solve, the more personal, the better.
However if your looking for a resource, then I recommend YC Startup School.
@@ofeliiabagratian5748 like Shane said here, they will teach you to manage, accounting, marketing, etc about business. With my background in computer, idk how to do all that. So, I'm ready to learn (after I have the money, of course.) 🤓
@@Kanal7Indonesia I see, well you not gonna do all of that yourself anyway: hire an accountant, marketer and etc. Also, read a few books to have an idea, for example, I ve recently read MBA in A Day, Idiot's Guide to MBA. Also, you can start working and change the industry, see how IT operates in manufacturing, healthcare, advertising, and you ll find some business opportunities. Also, you can get a Master's in CS and just take a few business classes as well. During my Master in CS I took DIgital Marketing and Management classes as electives. The Masters in CS will add more credibility to you while you ll be looking for investors
I graduated Business Administration "Major" in Marketing Management, but I landed on the Accounting Dept as an Accounting Assistant 💀
Hey Shane, great insight! How do you think Business Administration with a concentration in operations and supply chain or global supply chain management fairs?

Edit : I just realised he makes a lot of best career advice videos like this
Business degree basically opens the door to any career path except for medical (hands-on). You can cross-train with a business degree.
True
hahaha, no it doesn't, unless you are doing a masters with a STEM undergrad under your belt.
@@Doritos-ik5eu cant be a lawyer either
@@anasg007 You can be a lawyer with a business degree just not out of undergrad, but your better off taking econ with accounting classes for pre-law. I’m graduating in May 2025 with a Business Administration Degree. Going into my MBA right after. Thanks to you!!!! :)
This is one of the safest degrees to get. It's highly portable, and EVERY Fortune 500 will open a role you'll be able to apply for.
i finished my bachelors degree in business administration, with a focus on general management, in december 2019 then covid happened a few months later so i haven’t been able to find a job with it yet. i also find it hard because i don’t have any real experience. last summer, i began my MBA program so hopefully that’ll help me but i don’t think i can wait that long. i’ll be pushing 30 when i finish (i was a late college graduate) and i just want to start my career now
Just keep going and finish. I’m in the same boat. By the time I’m done with my BA I’ll be 28 and Imma just knock out my MBA out too.
Fkt it..Do the MBA Online start your own business or freelancing. Youll be richer than your fellow students when you graduate. Gdluck
No it’s not. My friend got a business administration degree and can’t find a job cuz it’s too general. It’s better to specialize in a particular field.
Good to know. Thanks
Hahaha not even !! People with no degree are getting jobs. What makes you think people with BBA won't get jobs? Liar hahaha
Wait are you talking about Computer Sciences or Busisnesss Administration ??
In Malaysia, business mgt degree is the most popular programme because most companies requires person with this qualification....basically, the programme enables a person to venture into various types of function in an organisation...eg human resource , communication, strategic planning and finance
Are u sure in Malaysia business mgt is the most popular ? I think the most popular course in Malaysia is Accountancy ,, for science stream is MBBS / MD
