You’re welcome! Yeah that trotline scoops is a game changer. I’ve had pvc arms for a long time but when I switched to the scoop it was a game changer

Trying to figure out if I can run a trout line on my boat regarding the crabbing license it's so confusing on what requirements you need to do crabbing with pots or a trout line. I just want to eat my own crabs I don't want to sell them

In Maryland(Chesapeake Bay and Tributaries) if you get the “Consolidated Chesapeake Bay & Coastal Sport Boat License” you’ll be all set to use 1200ft of Trotline and/or 30 traps(not pots) on your boat

This is great! Where do you buy salted eel? Or to you salt them yourself?

    • @Bythewater

I get them from a local waterman. Here’s his FB profile: facebook.com/eric.robertson.104?mibextid=LQQJ4d

Thanks for the quick reply! I also have a 1,200 foot trotline, and have aways used chicken necks. I am in the northern bay. I have heard about waterman using SE. do you debait, refrigerant, or salt your linw between crabbing trips?

I pull the line and put it right in my chest freezer. Before the next trip I thaw it and replace baits as need. Normally the eel will last me 2 or so trips

Pretty good early season run. I'll be out first time across the river Lower Machodoc this weekend.
I used to go to Piney Point inside the inlet near the ramp, usually do ok down closer to the main river. I noticed there aren't too many CML pots there like the main river and especially in VA creeks.
What depth were you working and if you don't mind sharing what body of water do you find larger later in the year? PAX?
Great timing on this vid thanks.

Thanks! I start crabbing the St. Mary’s River later in the year as well as the PAX. It sucks the PAX can get so crowded though.
      Glad you enjoyed the video!
