Totally agree with this review. Beyond the Reach of the Sun is well worth exploring and investing the time in. This album will be on rotation in my house for a good few weeks to come. Glad I let the moths out of my wallet for this beauty.
The only thing I disagree with you from this entire video is your statement about finding fries that don’t have enough sodium. Fries are always over-salted. I could eat them plain (I realize I’m in the minority in that regard). And while I call them "fries" here in the States, don't you call them "chips" over there across the pond? As for the Anciients album, I agree with you a 100%. One note about the album artwork is that it reminded me of the artwork for Gloire Éternelle by First Fragment. I looked it up and it is the same artist. Turns out the artist, Adam Burke, has done tons of artwork for metal albums.
Hah! Fries are generally a specific kind over here (the skinny kind from McD's etc), chips are generally chunkier :) I'm a salt-fiend with them though, and times are often that my local McD's forgets to salt them! Disaster!!
Really enjoying the music on this album, but the scream singing is not really my thing. It's not all the time, but it's enough to bother me. If it weren't for that, they would have made a fan.
