- Reading the highest rated books I own! In this reading vlog, I read the highest rated books on Goodreads that I already own. I went through my Goodreads TBR and selected the 3 books that were the most highly rated and which I already owned, and read them to see if they really are that good and if I will also give them five stars. First off I show you what are the three highest rated books I own, and then we go into the reading vlog of reading the highest rated books on my tbr. This video includes no spoilers, but I review Oathbringer by Brandon Sanderson, the third book in the Stormlight Archive epic fantasy series, The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah, a historical fiction novel, and the fourth book in the Throne of Glass YA fantasy series by Sarah J. Maas, Queen of Shadows. It took me an entire year to finish making this video because I don't do well with TBR's and read these too far apart, but made it eventually. Are these books really worth five stars?

This was such an interesting idea! I now want to go and see what my highest rated book is on my TBR. I'm just starting with Way of Kings now (100 pages in) and from what little I have seen of Shallan I don't really like her. 😅 But maybe that changes, I only had one chapter so far!
I think I would love the Nightingale. I haven't read a lot of books in that setting/time period but everything that I have picked up I loved so maybe I need to give this one a try.
Shallan has a really interesting character arc! I also didn't like her much in the first book. And as for WW2 historical fiction, definitely recommend The Nightingale and also All The Light We Cannot See, both were beautiful and heartbreaking. Oh and obviously The Book Thief if you haven't already read it. 😊
My top rated are probably both Kingkiller Chronicle novels by Patrick Rothfuss and the graphic novel Saga by Brian K. Vaughan.
All of those are absolutely worth the hype and high rating! 😊

Isamina, Love your channel !!!! can you possibly do a video or share , as a writer.. how to manage time between reading and writing. Both are important, but when I am writing, I feel I should be reading so I can be a better writer, then... when I am reading, I think I should be writing, because "writers write" the cycle repeats... Ugh.
That's a great suggestion! I definitely struggle with this guilt myself.
My current highest rated book on my goodreads is The Way Love Goes, a contemporary Black romance and Skyward by Brandon Sanderson.
Well Skyward is definitely worth it in my opinion 😄

I *hated* The Nightingale. I read it for my "Try Not to Cry" challenge. Ugh. Probably the most overrated book of all time.

@@IasminaEdina I think Hannah’s historicals are perfect for people who don’t ever read historical fiction but for major histfic fans - the consensus seems to be generally negative among us. 😸 She is really is great for people who don’t read historical fiction though.
