Miss the draws. If you went against your complete counter deck, it made it possible to not lose to a 100% counter deck. Now, it's all about spamming buildings and chip damage cards. But it honestly doesn't matter because I hate the game anyway now.
Honestly, I enjoy overtime and matches just being longer in general. It makes the game much more intense and close, which makes the game feel much more serious (which many would think is bad, and it is to an extent, but I love it)
I really like your view on how it ultimately affects the P2W issue as in the end it does drastically affect how much players have to grind as F2P. Let alone that there's also the problem of losing that also prevents progress and how the update for losers helped a lot, but there's still more that could be done about it to make progress still be worth it even if you lose often, but really that's just another issue to add on the list on how to actually improve the player experience, sadly. I love the game but it's a shame there's so many of these issues that only make players want to just leave the game because of the frustration that it builds up from its gameplay.
Remember when the game was about making a fun yet useful deck to your liking and advancing arenas with strategy instead of "Use premade deck 1 and beg the rival isnt using premade deck 2 or «X» towertroop to fully counter you?" I miss those days. I would take old overtime and no tiebreaker if that means going back to those days
What’s wrong with tie breaker? I’m not disagreeing with the making your own fun deck that’s what clash royale should be about but I’m just confused about why you don’t like tie breaker.
@CoollikeJ on ladder, that was pretty much the only way to mitigate trophy loss against someone higher level than you, as well as someone who has complete counter against your deck, tie breaker pretty much spawned overly defensive decks, while having chip damage dealing win conditions rose to popularity
I remember those days, when climbing the ladder WAS the game. I remember the excitement of getting into a new arena. Or being close to a new arena and matching with someone in that new arena, so I would get a chest from that arena if I won. Getting a magical chest really was magical. I miss the days when progressing through the game was what the game was, rather than what they do now.
the thing is u don t get to enjoy it since 3x elyxir makes the match extremly stressfull and not enjoyable . the game should be a bit reworked though , 1 minute for 1x elyxir , 1 for 2x elyxir and 1 minute for 3x elyxir , with the overtime happening when x3 elyxir starts , and lasting 1 minute , bassically the match would last at max only 3 minutes
If you don’t play defense you get beat by beat down nowadays, so a lot of my games go into overtime and I win off tiebreakers. I’m saying this is the case as of this past month specifically. The meta is so bad rn.
Statistically you will play against counters pretty often, the possibility to play defensively and spell cycle gives you a chance to win even if you have bad luck. Also if the game was supposed be about making big pushes, there wouldn't be so many archetypes.
In sports, overtime exist. In clash royale, overtime also exist. Football technically exist in clash royale too soooo think of it as a crossover that stayed lmao

Completely agree, not much to say other than the clash team need to think a lot more on how to make the game *not* a stupidly slow wait for a good opportunity to push with an evo or two if you've unlocked it

seems like a good amount of people are thinking that this guy is hating on overtime but he really is hating on the fact it's even needed so much the game would fall apart if overtime was gone and he knows that (probably)
Before tie breaker, overtime was the worst thing to ever exist.

If your attention span doesn't let you spend 5 minutes in one battle then maybe that's the issue.
I don’t think that was the point here
would you rather play 3 5 minute games or 5 3 minute games
it really depends on who you are

I like overtime. It give more troops and action and the one who is slightly better wins. I play Golem and it’s a deck which profits from double elixir

I dont mind OT at all, because some of my favorite memories in CR come from OT matches
The problem I find is alot of people really are just waiting and or just defending and it's annoying
If overtime happens in almost every match then…thats not overtime that’s just regular time

Even worse now they COMPLETELY bombed the offensive potency of the game by over-nerfing eVOs.

less single time makes cycle decks worse
less double or triple time makes heavy decks worse
the real interesting part is seeing which archetype can do more with their favored time
additionally it would be a bad thing if the game was balanced around ending in short games every time
there are only 2 ways to guarantee games end quickly
1. make some things literally undefendable
2. buff spell cycle
neither of those are fun and just totally break the game
perfect defense should always theoretically be possible, just balanced out by making sure spell damage makes it not worth trying to do
the other side is also true
unstoppable offense leads to whatever garbage weve been playing for the last year or two with monk phoenix champions evos and drill
the only good way to make games shorter without changing the dynamic is to scale everything down. less single time less double time less triple time.
the bad part about making games last less time is that it rewards playing on starting hand.
no matter how good a player is, they can always get three crowned by a noskill egolem player who went all in first play because the starting hands are random
since so many noskill players spam the bridge as soon as possible, good players need a long match to use skill make up for the bad luck
a shorter game means less time to make up for a bad start, and thus makes it much better to just play on luck every game
there isnt really a solution that can preserve skill and also make the game time shorter
plus consider this
you only get more progression by winning more than you lose
playing more games doesnt mean that you win more than you lose, it just means that there are more wins and theyre balanced by more losses
more games is not more progression
to be honest my favorite time is in overtime because 2x is the only time that every deck can make its gameplan work
in 3x cycle decks cant really break through anymore
and in 1x beatdown decks cant make a real push without losing a tower (unless they have duchess)
plus having a long lategame makes it really fun to watch cycle decks put together crazy defenses
some cycle decks may be lame and spammy, but seeing everything come together perfectly on defense against a bad matchup is a satasfying feeling that never happens in single

I think that without overtime and tie break the game would be worse, and OT isn't that bad.
the overtime should last 1 minute instead of 2
Void was such a bad idea, it does so many things other cards do while adding nothing new except being better.
5 minutes is plenty to win a game
So you think it’s better to be winning the game in damage and then the game ends as a draw because the timer ran out? 🤨
