  • Well, there was a wait, but our Galaxie finally arrived! In this chapter, we take a good close look at the car and discuss some issues it has. We also attend to the choppy idle and smooth it out. This car looks a bit rough, but is a jewel. Hope you enjoy!

Oh I giggled when you said “this is a job after the other fairlane is done” Pete we’ve been watching you for 10 years plus now and we know that’s not how you roll and that’s what makes you entertaining. Always something different as you jump from job to job depending on parts availability and or funds. Look forward to seeing what happens next

In a Galaxie far far away....... Awesome car it has a few features that are shared with my 67 Falcon sports coupe namely the steering wheel and the E brake.

The 289 CI engine on the 67 Fairlane and Mercs was a beast. Owners were getting up to 300k miles if you maintained it and didnt hot rod it.

Thats a nice car Pete, shabby in places and very shabby in others but nothing you cannot handle! Im sure you did not pay a million bucks for it so lots of work, grazed knuckles and swearing Im sure you will do well! Its not about cost, if you enjoy what you do, and you do! Looking forward to watching this transformation from ugly duckling to queen of the road over the next few years, yes, I expect it will take that long! Good luck mate! 👍🇦🇺

Not so much of a bomb I reckon. Bonus on the compression test. Can't wait for you to start on her. Galaxie's look absolutely fabulous. Love the shape amd lines. I reckon you've got a bit of a deal with this one. Let her sit till you're ready. I absolutely agree that the old ways of aircon look ugly and are inefficient, but in saying that, aircon was part of the luxury of a galaxie. Great idea to perhaps modify with a modern electric unit to kerp the creature comfort with keeping the engine bay clean and keeping the visuals under the bonnet focused on that awesome 390. Hopefully a lot of XW, XY small items are inrerchangeable to keep her 'Ford OEM' so to speak. I reckons she's a very valuable and worthwhile purchase to add to your collection Pete. Do you and your brother have a timeline on the XA or is that a project after the Galaxie? Either way, its all good, you do you. I just love the content and admire your ability to juggle so many projects at once.

pretty cool car..i also like the 67's the best...if it doesnt crank with the key..these older american full size fords have a habbit of having a neutral safety park switch either gone bad or out of adjustment..most likely out of adjustment ,,,you can try with your left hand pull up on the shifter as you try to crank the car..sometimes this works

Peter. Sweet Galaxie. I was scared for you as it looked like you were trying to force it to start when in 2nd gear. My Fairlane has the same issue and I think your problem is just a bad PRND21 switch at he base of the steering column. They go out of adjustment and the car won't start in park but sometimes will still start in neutral. Keep the projects moving forward as you have lots. My T350 is in getting new crank seals as I am hopeful that is my oil issue. I wanted to see you riding the GT250 after you finished it but maybe I missed that video? Andy

Peter, you've found a solid in that one! I had a 58 Ford with a T-Bird Interceptor engine and a factory chop top. It cruised at 105 MPH (Nevada had no speed limits on highways in the early 70s). Among about a dozen others I wish I had found a way to keep that one. Congrats on a strong runner that just needs a bit of effort to find itself in fine nick! Great video!

Used to have a '67 Mercury Cougar with factory A/C very similar to your system. When charged with the old R12, it worked fantastic! Those 390s are tough engines as well. Have the earlier 352 version in a '59 Thunderbird.

The Aussie ones used a lot of local components. Mostly to meet local content rules regarding tariffs. And if you reckon garage space is tight now, wait till you put that inside! These are mostly cheaper than equivalent Falcons in similar condition, so the $ per kg is good! Seperate chassis makes things nicer from a resto view! I think you need one of those low rise hoists…

Hi Peter, enjoyed this episode. Regarding the fuel smell, may pay to check the fuel lines from tank to engine. I found my lines (1970 Galaxie) were starting to weep due to body mount failure causing the body to rub on the lines at LH chassis where the rear diff suspension connects up.
Hope this helps and look forward to seeing more of this vehicle.

Those are 1972 Ford LTD wheelcovers. You may want to check Old Car Alley channel , Howard restored a 1966 convertible in a way where he did it by sections. The type someone can do in their garage.

I put a sandon on the XC using original brackets just cut and welded on the rear bolt mount at 90degs
I'll have an ignition switch if you need one 67 mustang but it will be the same

    • @PeterAndersons
      @PeterAndersons  6 месяцев назад +1

Excellent mate, yep the Sandon is likely the best way to go... I might still do it and mount it lower. I just love the look of these engines uncluttered, but there is loads of car work to do between now and then, so by then I'll probably change my mind another 20 times haha, cheers.

sounds like someone needs a 2 poster or mid rise lift.
myself i only have a 6 meter by 3.5 meter garage in London but i do have a midrise lift, its got a flat top to it so with no car in the garage it makes a great large work table it does have the adjustable legs so its great for my cars, having the flat top to it when the car is up on tall stands i can lower the lift and its nice and flat, i can then sit up right under the car to do any work,
cant have a full size lift due to head height of the roof.
lifts 2.8 ton fortunatly my cars are around 1 ton or under

    EDIT: "Springtime Yellow", got it.

You really should treat yourself to hoist one day. What I can see to be the most difficult part of this build is getting rid of that shitty paint job, I reckon that'll do your head in.
Rooly noice car though, a diamond inside a stone.
