Thailand is a Buddhist country. We have accepted all cultures since ancient times but adapted them to Thai life. It may not be 100% but we enjoy every festival. Hope you enjoy your life in Thailand.
@@ChovyTravelThai people if not christian we not really celebrate Christmas no exchange presents on this day.. but New year Eve it a big deal for us .. we will have a party everywhere and exchange presents this day :)

Oh yeah? Where are you from? It’s our first time celebrating Christmas in a tropical country 🌴 Last year, we spent it in Korea so it was a total opposite. 😄😄
Yes, in Thailand the majority of people are Buddhists, followed by Muslims and Christians. However, many expatriates and tourists are also Christians. Many people choose to fly back to Europe or America during this festival because they think that Thailand does not celebrate Christmas. Therefore, we need to prepare for Christmas in advance so that these people do not worry about this festival.

Thailand is a predominantly Buddhist country. As such, "holiday" decoration is all commercialized with Santa Claus, Snowman, and Christmas tree and not religiously displayed. You will notice that you do not see any Christian Crosses or baby Jesus anywhere in these decorations. You can probably find them in the local Catholic Churches in Bangkok. I love Central world and around that area this time of the year! I used to live at the staff apartment inside the Police General Hospital across the street from Central world and you know this holiday season was one of my great memories 😊
Another good thing to do during Christmas and New Year in Bangkok is to book Christmas dinners at the 5 star hotels and some top rated Western restaurants. In these places, you will start feeling that it is that time of the year. It's more of a family feeling at night with suttle feeling of coziness. The Christmas feel is delivered with just a few hints even, like a small pine tree, pictures, etc.. You can try this. It's just another way of bringing back the Christmas feeling without feeling that everything is commercialized.
Dear, please go at night time and wait until begin of Dec. The Em distric if you walk at the bottom of the brigde you'll see its absolutley stunning . Night time is the time to see it comes alive. Em distric, Siam Paragon, Icon Siam and Central world at night time.
I live in rural Thailand and nobody give a heck about Christmas. In Thailand, Christmas is only a commercial thing, it has not religious meaning at all, it is completely empty of any substance. In most of the shops you see with Xmas decorations, vendors would not be able to tell you it relates to the birth of JC. Where I live, Chinese New Year festival is the big celebration.
Icic! Thats unfortunate. Christmas Decor is a bonus for people to see even if it is commercialized. I feel like Chinese New Year is absolutely big anywhere 😅
Looking forward to seeing more of your videos on Christmas and New Year’s decorations when it’s closer to the end of the year 😊. Although less than 1% of Thais are of Christianity large shopping malls and their neighborhoods invest impressive amount of budget and energy on decorating the properties and streets.
Just a marketing event, It is not a tradition of the local culture. Thais naturally like to have fun and party. Therefore, various festivals that exists in this world You can find it in Thailand too. 😂
You can visit Assumption Cathedral they have Roman Catholic ceremony (mass) in Christmas Eve every year. St.Louis on Satorn street too ,they are pretty close to each other.
This year I will try the Christmas atmosphere in Bangkok..in Hong Kong as Christmas approaches more and more tourists come and I choose Thailand for my holiday during Christmas and return to Hong Kong for New Year 😂
Guys!!! While Christmas decoration and all out materialism occurs during the end of the year here in Thailand, there still lacks certain essential elements of what westerners would expect for Christmas (unless you live in the south of the US). From my point of view, the essential element is colder weather, some wind, and if possible snow. I don't know whether you're considering traveling out of the kingdom or not for Christmas, but if you do, Japan is a great place to feel Christmassy. There is an ice sculpturing contest every year in Sapporo. Even Harbin, China is a great place to see ice sculpture contest. I would argue that in Harbin, it's probably much more grandeur in terms of the size and quantity of works (some you can actually use yourself--- hotel, slides, etc.). However, if you remain in the kingdom and still want that Christmas feeling as far as the weather is concerned, it is a good time to visit Chiangmai, Chiangrai, Mae Hon Son, and other extreme north of the kingdom. Temperatures around those areas between Dec-Feb End often averages 18-25 outside in the sun. Up on the mountain it drops to 2 celcius as well. Here's a surprise for you. If you travel just 2 hours or to the northeast, you will reach the Kaoyai Region. The region is at a much higher elevation than Bangkok, and so it experiences a much more potent cold snap from the Northeastern Monsoon winds which come down from China during the winter months. I was there 2 years ago and we stayed there at a small resort hotel. We experienced 23-25 during the day, 18-20 during the night. One windy morning, we had breakfast at the hotels deck-out near the pool while it was windy and the temperature was actually 15 celcius!!! Anyway, what ever you guys choose to do for Christmas, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!
We’re looking to celebrate Christmas in Bangkok this year. It’ll be our first time spending Christmas in a tropical country 🌴 We’re excited for this new experience! 😊❤️
There are 2 celebration coming soon on 5/12 King‘s Rama 9 Birthday remembrance and Fathers day. Then10/12 Thailand consitution’s day. After that will be time for Christmas & new year
Thailand is a predominantly Buddhist country. Only in recent history has there been so many Christmas themes and decorations at various shopping malls for commercial purposes and tourism. Then again, the Thais would find any excuse to celebrate and enjoy any kinds of festivals.
unlike in US where you got Halloween for October and November got no event assigned to, in Thailand November is Loy kra tong's month. So you need to wait to December for the Xmas decoration to be put up
I see. We noticed One Bangkok started putting up decorations the other day we went, but wasn’t grand like CentralwOrld. Looking forward to more Christmas decorations in December! 🎄
Great video! Though I’m pretty sure scalping/reselling items in the US isn’t illegal as well (apart from essential items). You can see there’s a huge resell market for Hermes bags, Rolex, Nike Jordan’s, Yeezys, etc. in the US via platforms like Ebay, StockX.
try Chocolate Ville for xmas and new year fancy decoration. many cute restaurant and cafe there also, good for family and couple. suggestion is to go there at the evening for a romantic date.
In my opinion, Xmas back in the states is so depressing compared to what we see here in Bangkok. Only thing missing here is there is no Santa Cruz where can kids can take pictures with..😢
I see. Where we’re from in California, it’s very beautiful and festive. We usually celebrate Christmas at Disneyland or check out neighborhoods that are decorated. A lot of people… so that can be stressful but we still enjoyed it.
Like everyone says, we don’t really go all out with Christmas decorations here. It’s more of a cute seasonal theme for malls, kind of like how we do Halloween, and it’s still a bit early! We tend to save the grand celebrations for our own events like Loy Krathong or Thai New Year instead. That said, it’s a bit of pop culture for Thais, especially girls, to take photos at the Christmas events at Central World every year. We don’t really celebrate it, but we kind of participate in this way 😁. As a Christian myself, I celebrate at home and the church. My private school (a long time ago 🤣) was run by a Catholic group, so Christmas celebrations were a big thing for us. We had huge parties in our classrooms, everyone brought their own food or called for delivery. I really miss that! Then I moved to a Thai public school... and we had exams on Christmas Day 😭, even the national university entrance exam was on Christmas...... By the way, Guss Damn Good is a super trendy Thai ice cream shop. It’s a bit pricey but really popular, the fun part is guessing the flavor from its quirky name. As for Tonchin Ramen, it’s a branch of the New York-based ramen spot 😂, and the Michelin stars are actually from the New York locations. Honestly, it’s my favorite ramen place in malls when you factor in both value and taste.
Moreover, Thailand has tons of great ramen spots, including branches of Japan’s top-ranking ramen restaurants with chefs straight from Japan. Many of these are the only locations outside of Japan. In fact, a lot of Japanese restaurants here are incredibly authentic and amazing. You should definitely try some if you love Japanese food!
😅 That must’ve been sad to go from celebrations to exams. The ice cream was pretty good! I would definitely get that and the ramen again for sure. For the value and the taste, I would have to agree with you 😃
We will definitely have to one of these days. We noticed Thailand is so heavily Japan influenced. Way more than Korean influenced as far as restaurants.
To get more impressive vibes, why don't you guys pick the night time to come instead, colorful lights will enhance decorative items to become vibrant Christmas atmosphere on point! However, the time you visited was not bad at all though.
We noticed most malls have some kind of security system in their entrance. Maybe you can explain your condition. Thais are usually very understanding. 😀
@@ChovyTravel I recommend going to Embassy from Central Chidlom at Chidlom Station…from the station on the skywalk walk down the new path… not the one that goes up… then make your way to embassy through the connection… just ask someone in Central Chidlom when you walk in and they’ll point to the connection where ppl enjoy the Christmas escalator… the top floor of embassy should have some decorations and out in front….
Go to Phillipines for next Christmas u guys 😂. Considering majority are Buddhist, I think Thailand does a good job with the mall decor, don’t you? Malaysia too, even though majority Muslim.
I think we just might for next year! 😁 100% Agree! Not bad at first, then they picked it up a lot at Central World. Perfect way to end it! So beautiful! Holiday or not… Malaysia is amazing!
@ChovyTravel yeah but you just sound dissapointed that Christmas isnt bigger in Thailand. Thais dont believe in santa lol. Christmas is not a part of the hollidays in Thailand. Thais dont eat Christmas dinner and open Christmas gifts etc.. Its only the decoration because it looks beautiful ..
Yes, in the beginning since so many people hyped up Christmas in Bangkok online. We thought we share the true experience of the decoration in Thailand and what foreigners can expect when they visit during the Christmas month of December. That was the main point of the video. Glad to see Central World was definitely beautiful.
We’re curious to see how Christmas is celebrated in Thailand. A lot of foreigners visit Thailand during Christmas time and we wanted to see and show them how it’s celebrated/looks like in Bangkok Thailand. What they can expect during their visit and where they would want to spend their Christmas time.
Actually, Thai ppls, I mean not everyone but only this province celebrate Christmas like really celebrate in Sakonnakorn and they have unique way to celebrate ❤ ruclips.net/video/n97UEsbopDw/видео.htmlsi=xbd-jSW3hbzw-Rg0
Yes they are and there are a few places decorated already 😢. But it’s gets more in December! ❤❤. Try going out again in December. Love your channel by the way. I’m excited to go to Asian and travel around in about 1-1/2 year. 😊
Thailand is a Buddhist country guys....Not Christian......I was surprised there was as much Christmas stuff as there was...Ive been 10 times to Bkk always at Christmas/ New YEARS TIME...SAME WITH sAIGON
Ofc! So many people raved about it online and tried comparing it with the states so we thought we check it out. Disappointment came from the people online that over-hyped it. All in all, Central World totally out did themselves. Very beautiful!
Guys love your videos but you missed the cultural sensitivity on this one. Let’s go to Thailand and expect my American traditions, food and culture to be in a foreign country. Then being disappointed in not finding the food and decorations is way off the mark. To be honest I was pleasantly surprised I found so much Christmas themed things at the malls and places when I came last year during Christmas. You are in their country, open your minds to their culture, food and traditions..not the other way around. If you want Christmas go home enjoy Christmas then come back. Sorry I’m very blunt.
Thank you so much! We have seen and heard a lot of hype going around about how beautiful it is in Bangkok as far as Christmas Decor and delicious treats. Bangkok is such a developed/modern city with millions of tourists that visit during Christmas. If you seen the whole video, we go over what you can expect when you’re coming to Bangkok during Christmas time. We’re not going to lie about being disappointed because we were at first. Maybe with all of the hype going on, we had a higher expectation. Honestly, Central World was beautiful as mentioned in the video. We also gave it a 10/10 and highly recommended it. We understand we are in their country and respect them. Never did we have any ill intentions. If we wanted to go back, we could but we chose to spend it here in Thailand for the first time. I think you and a lot of people are missing the point of this video. Maybe watching the full video will clear things up as far as the intention of this video. So foreigners will know what to expect when visiting Bangkok during Christmas time. Sorry for the long message. Just wanted to clear the air.
Not sure what Padwee is but we do have a Christmas Tree in the states. We did find decorations for sale in Central World and they really did a great job with their decor. Ofc, it’s definitely a business.
At least people here don't burn down foreign shops, scan customers before they even enter the store or push Asian-looking people under the train... I'm kidding, that never happens because God taught us to love and pray for everyone, even those who persecute us.
try to go to the Philippines where Christmas starts from September to December 30, you will be overwhelmed with all the Christmas decorations you can see not only inside of the malls but inside and outside of each and every home in the Philippines 😊
Just a 90 degree ha ha! Christmas in the other part of the world. Thai are not really into Christmas just another holiday to decorate light and color. when I was young I only experienced a little course I go to Christian school for a few years and mom move me to temple school (church to temple) then my Christmas is kind of over. Thailand has a lot of festival all year round then Christmas doesn’t stand out in my opinion. I never heard of thanksgiving until I’m move to Christian country. Thanksgiving!!! Thai don’t eat turkey i don’t believe we has turkey in Thailand . They are all Christian.
i would not expect the greatest Christmas there being it is a Christian holiday and most of Thailand is not christian..Christmas is only done there for the money i believe 😥..and its not even thanksgiving yet.. have some patience for the decor to come 🤣 and i personally will never give starbucks anymore of my money- bad ethics within that company.
Ofc! There’s so much buzz about Christmas in Bangkok already. We had to check it out ourselves. Will have to wait til mid December 🥰🫰❤️🙏 We’ve toned down on Starbucks but do go sometimes.
i love the festive atmosphere and the deco, but at the same time, it saddens me that Christmas has become so commercialised around the world that people have forgotten whose birthday we're celebrating. Our Lord and Saviour. what to do ... what to do ... BTW, over here, some places are already playing Chinese New Year songs! for businesses that want our money, they're done with Christmas and are moving on. LOL

We try to stay home at night for Bruno’s 🐶 sake. He really doesn’t like it when it comes to night time being left alone 😕
We’re excited to see more of it!! 😘🎄
True, been from this mall and all things are pricy!
If you want to find more decorations, singapore is the right place to go!
Yes! 😅
Really!? Will have to put it on the list. Definitely want to visit Singapore one of these days.
I noticed there are security entry in some malls. I have a pacemaker, do they have an option not to go thru those security sensors?
We noticed most malls have some kind of security system in their entrance. Maybe you can explain your condition. Thais are usually very understanding. 😀
Please check out Xmas events at One Bangkok and Gaysorn amarin
We did check out One Bangkok. It’s beautiful as well 😃
for me central Embrassy is the best this year
Really!? Will have to check it out. Thank you for sharing! 🥰❤️🫰🙏
Thank you for the info! We’ll check it out 🥰
@@ChovyTravel I’m Glad I hope you do a Christmas in the Evening video… The One has a Nice Tall Christmas Tree comparable to CW and a few decorations….
Majority Thai are Buddhist. I think ..
All the Christmas decorations are good enough .....
Understood. CentralwOrld was beautiful and very festive!
Both of you plan countdown in Thailand or other places
Yes, we will be in Thailand! 🇹🇭
@ChovyTravel great to hear that !!!!
เมืองสรรค์ของนักท่องเที่ยวดินแดนมหัศจรรย์อยู่ที่ thailand
👍👍
Most Thais don’t cerebrate Christmas. Just enjoying shopping malls’ decorations without knowing the meaning of Christmas spirit.
Makes sense since a lot of Thais are Buddhist. Can’t wait to see how fully decorated it becomes towards Christmas.
Go to Phillipines for next Christmas u guys 😂. Considering majority are Buddhist, I think Thailand does a good job with the mall decor, don’t you? Malaysia too, even though majority Muslim.
I think we just might for next year! 😁
100% Agree! Not bad at first, then they picked it up a lot at Central World. Perfect way to end it! So beautiful!
Holiday or not… Malaysia is amazing!
อยากแนะนำให้ลองเดินทางไปที่สนามหลวงคะ มีการจัดไฟสำหรับวันพ่อแห่งชาติและเปิดตลอดต้อนรับปีใหม่
Thanks for the suggestion! Happy Father’s Day! 🥰❤️🫰
Thats like saying songkran or loy kratong in America is not like Bangkok..
There’s no songkran or loy krathong in the States. You can still find Christmas in Thailand 😊
@ChovyTravel btw one bangkok has also decorated for Christmas now.
Yes we noticed it when we visited this week! Beautiful. CentralwOrld is still #1 though hehe ❤️💚❤️💚
It is important to recognize Thailand is a predominantly Buddhist country. So, I'm curious why you're searching for Christmas themes in all the malls.
Ohh thanks for sharing!
❤😊❤
❤️💚❤️💚
Thailand they Thais celebrated every festival all around the world had.😅😢😂😂😂😂😂🎄🎄🎄🎄
That’s the beauty of it! 😃
Are u guys going to put up a tree in your place?
Not this year. Maybe next 🤷
Christmas isn’t until December. Even here is the USA. You know that. 😢.
Ofc! However, in the states, they already start selling/decorating for Christmas right after Halloween 😃
I always knew Santa was Asian, lol. I mean, who can get that much work done in 1 night.
😂🥰🫰❤️🙏
KFC just lunches ads to associate its chicken to christmas. kinda funny, maybe they're trying to repeat what's happen in Japan's christmas.
Always need to keep up with the trend and season
@@ChovyTravelPadwee is hand fan😊
Hand fan christmas tree at king power😊
Oh yeah?? That’s interesting!! I love that!! ❤️💚❤️💚
At least people here don't burn down foreign shops, scan customers before they even enter the store or push Asian-looking people under the train... I'm kidding, that never happens because God taught us to love and pray for everyone, even those who persecute us.
😅😅
try to go to the Philippines where Christmas starts from September to December 30, you will be overwhelmed with all the Christmas decorations you can see not only inside of the malls but inside and outside of each and every home in the Philippines 😊
Oh wow! Starts in September!? That’s crazy! Philippines sounds like the place to be during Christmas! 🤔 Thank you for letting us know! 🥰🫰❤️🙏
@@ChovyTravel How come the Philippines started Christmas in September ? It's to early
Oh, idk 🤷🏻♂️😅
🙋🤗☺️👌👩❤️👨

ยังไม่ถึงเลยไมีใช่เหรอ
Our first Christmas 🎄 in Thailand this year ❤️💚
Just a 90 degree ha ha!
😁😁 We actually found turkey at Villa Market recently. It was 4000 baht for 18 lb one 😳🙊Super expensive lol
i would not expect the greatest Christmas there being it is a Christian holiday and most of Thailand is not christian..Christmas is only done there for the money i believe 😥..and its not even thanksgiving yet.. have some patience for the decor to come 🤣 and i personally will never give starbucks anymore of my money- bad ethics within that company.
Ofc! There’s so much buzz about Christmas in Bangkok already. We had to check it out ourselves. Will have to wait til mid December 🥰🫰❤️🙏
We’ve toned down on Starbucks but do go sometimes.
i love the festive atmosphere and the deco, but at the same time, it saddens me that Christmas has become so commercialised around the world that people have forgotten whose birthday we're celebrating. Our Lord and Saviour.
what to do ... what to do ...
BTW, over here, some places are already playing Chinese New Year songs! for businesses that want our money, they're done with Christmas and are moving on. LOL
Same! 100% Agree! Glad Central World had such beautiful decor to see though. Oh really!? Already? 😅
not cooler than this for this year.
u gonna celebrate x mas in thailand , w top n shorts.
I see. We will be enjoying this tropical Christmas 🎄 this year! ❤️💚❤️
