"Gotta be a ninja" lol. Your videos inspire me Terry. Today I rode 20.6km in 1hr2min on my 46/16 single speed. My biggest ride so far in terms of time & distance. I'm slowly getting there on my journey from #FatToFitByFifty. Strava tells me that just two months ago I rode 5km & I remember feeling like I was going to die haha. Thanks to both you & the people you film for the ongoing inspiration.

I used to ride like this, it's like finding the secret eye of the storm when you realize moving cars give each other more space between them than parked cars or curbs.
I will never run full speed through a red light like that though because I got nothing to prove and I want to live.

You should assume every car is going to run the light when riding in NYC...

We learn best from mistakes. So you should put out a Crash Compilation soon.
I learn from pausing the videos and watching what the riders are doing frame by frame (you can advance youtube videos frame by frame by pressing the period "." key)
It’s mainly reading traffic, lights, watching pedestrians and timing. At this level there’s more risk taking involved. If you see alleycat race videos you can also observe their movements/style of riding.
Fixed gear gives you much more control and nimbleness in these situations.
@@numbaoneg101 Fixies give you shit in timing and reading traffic. Skills and anticipation do.
@@louisphilippe2076 @numbaoneg101 the faster you can stop the faster you can go (while maintaining a relatively safe riding style). Thats why fixed is very hard to ride without being reckless. That being said Mario is a shining example of how to ride: fast, confident but no unnecessary risks.

This was by far the craziest of all the hotlines that I've seen. Simultaneously soothing but adrenaline inducing. It's not the flashiest, with dope tire skids and pedestrian fly byes, but I'd be this ride had the highest average speed of any of your hotlines. When your flying that fast, lanesplitting the whole way, damn man, no room for error. But that's what the flow is about I guess. Great vid from a fan.

theres nothing dumb about 4:12. the cars kept their pace making it absolutely predictable wich line to take. on 4:29 its a bit different. in his place i would've initiated a right turn, making it a full turn into right hand side of the crossing street if something comes from right hand, or aborting the turn if its free.nevertheless the car was way to fast probably speeding up to catch orange
The car @ 4:12 had to hit the brakes. What does the speed of the SUV have to do with a cyclist going through a red in front of them? lol

I agree, inline downhill does only take one wrong decision, which is why I've never blown through a red light, which is why I've always evaluated the road, traffic, and conditions before skating.
Of course, they care about their lives, they're living it to the fullest, just as I've tried to. However, that doesn't mean that a not so great decision wasn't made here and then a blatantly bad decision. I've been in a few bad situations and they were all learning opportunities not to be repeated.
