I can't believe I'm just coming across this. I've had Maschine since MK1, and have always wanted to make it my "Daw". Adding vocal was really the hold up for me. But this has truly opened my eyes to making my dreams come true!! I'm a new subscriber!!
Great song & voice! Maschine is actually really fun when working with vocals! Not that many videos out there are highlighting that. But as a vocalist & producer I'm falling in love with the workflow more and more. Now that they added Clips it's even better. Great vid, thank you!!
Do you know how to record vocals in Maschine clips "wet" live? I'd like to hear CLA vocals live while recording, rather than adding after recording to dry vocal..or for live performance..
@@elsunmusic3130 I think that's possible! I saw another video from Jeff a while back where he talks about recording audio with live FX in Maschine ruclips.net/video/eTm6QWtHsm0/видео.html That's how I learned about it at least! Seems to work fine :)
As a Cubase and Maschine user (like you Prof G) it is astonishing to see you produce a full song with vocals inside of a beat making software that is by nature not designed for that purpose at all! Bien joué 👍🏻 Superb track btw
Thanks Nuke! I’m just glad I’m able to bring these production techniques to Maschine as the updates keep making it more than just a beat making sketch pad. Coming from a traditional DAW to Maschine, I love the hands on/muscle memory approach... going back to the mouse and keyboard feels... uninspiring!
It's been very easy to make full arrangements/songs on Maschine for some time now, even more so with clips now going over section boundaries. Still Jef is probably one of the best teachers and most proficient Maschine users out there. :)
Thank you Jef. This and your other video about comping with clips has been enormously helpful to me. I bought a Maschine+ recently and have been producing an original song with it entirely in standalone mode. The vocals is the last stage in the process for me, and I'm following your technique here to a T.
I comp large stacks of vocals all the time, I would go with take 3 for all of it with what I heard. I find the least comping always turns out more emotional. Turn off perfection brain and turn on feeling brain. Great tut, this is the one thing I would use maschine as a plugin for and record and comp in a daw. Otherwise I prefer maschine as standalone.
Thank you so much for these videos. I am learning so much! I’ve had a Maschine Mk3 for years now and it’s becoming such a powerful and stable tool now. I am able to be way more creative with it than when I hop on a more traditional DAW. It feels like there are less obstacles in the latter stages of making a song now!
It’s weird how beautiful the workflow is once you get it down, but getting past the initial barrier can be hard for most people. I find myself at a loss when I go back to my old way of making music now...
Once again you've clearly embodied being a superb communicator who utilizes best-in-class video production to facilitate your obvious passions for music and for sharing. *I have as many biker hoodies as Maestro Jef has athletic tops/outfits apparently... a lot!*
Great video and song. The more you speak on tactile and working fast, I can't help but think you would dig Ableton Live and Push. I just pre-ordered Live 11! Woot woot. I understand why you don't go that route, you have a nice workflow between mashine and Cubase. Maschine keeps getting better...
One thing I wish Maschine would have in the sampler is an indicator on the 'end' that lets you know the 'measure' information. Ie when you are trying to match up a sample and you want to know where it lands in your timeline (Measure:Beat). It's a simple calculation and can be done on the fly. @Native Instruments.... I would also like to see an indicator when you are sampling where you are in your complete timeline (ie where your sample is being recorded). This is more of a DAW thing.
Great tutorial. I wouldn't try to do any of this in Maschine, but everything you discuss is best practices and would translate into Ableton( the Daw I Prefer). I primarily use Maschine as a sketch ad these days after not touching it for years. Just picked up Maschine Mikro which forced me to Sr tart using it again.

Thanks a lot dear Jef :-) Quick question just to be sure. You have the Maschine + in controller mode and all de files and patterns are on the computer right? Is this also possible in stand alone?
Firstly, Thanks for the help getting started with Maschine! Having issues recording external audio. When recording to a group. everything is ok as long as in Ideas view. But, using the group in a scene in song view, the track doesn't start when it should. starts late and continues after the scene is over. I must be doing something wrong... Any help?
Hello! Maybe I missed this, I'm looking t machine + because it works standalone. Is it possible to record full vocal takes, verses etc on it as standalone? So I could produce and record everything in Machine without using computer?
Jeff great videos! Please help, how to record vocals in Maschine clips "wet" live? I'd like to hear CLA vocals live while recording, rather than adding after recording to dry vocal..or for live performance..
Awesome video, man! As someone who was more used to the "old" Maschine, you've been a huge help getting me back into the DAW with all its new updates Quick question though: How do it get all your vocal tracks perfectly aligned with the rest of the track? Are you recording the vocals in Maschine, or are you dragging them into the DAW and manually lining them up? Also, the vocal tracks are all already present, but they're grayed out and you're recording them once you find the version you want to use. When you do this, are you creating clips with them? I'm just not sure what it is exactly that you're recording. Hope that makes sense, haha. Thanks.
I actually gave this process a shot and answered my own questions! lol I see now that you recorded the vocals in Maschine, starting the recording from the beginning of the song so that each vocal take aligns perfectly. I also realized that the vocals are grayed out as you set the audio to gate mode. That way you can simply record the segments you want to use by recording each piece by piece. I wish there was a strip silence feature integrated into Maschine (similar to Pro Tools) so that any audio below a certain threshold would be silenced, removing any unnecessary noise. I guess going through and removing each bit of silence will have to do for now though. Pro Tools also makes it way easier to add fades and crossfades to audio, which Maschine should add.
Just 5 months later and the VC 2A has been peeled out of Komplete by the greedheads at Native Instruments and is now only available for 100 bucks as part of Vintage Compressors. Can you modify your video? Thanks.
