I've been driving the same model since 2020. Just had the transmission fail at 195,000 miles. Had a used transmission put in and it's back on the road. The interior in mine is nearly flawless and everything works, including the heated seats and mirrors. The body looks decent but rust is definitely an issue underneath in the back. I can't jack up the car normally to work on the rear wheels since they pinch weld's there are completely rusted out. That said, it's still solid and safe to drive. I really love it and would pay to have the unibody rust fixed if it was practical and possible, but it's really difficult to find someone to do that kind of work nowadays.
Glad to hear yours is still on the road! These cars have weird jack points to begin with, I've crunched part of my frame jacking it in the wrong place. Truly a great roadtrip car, great for winter with those heated seats. Right now I'm looking into doing some suspension work at about 140k. Starting to get a little bouncy bouncy
@@CodyHilliard Yeah see I bought mine used in 2020 for $4000. It's actually a 2004 model that looks identical this 2003 model shown in the video (mine is even the same exact color). The bottom was already rotted back there apparently, but I didn't notice until I went to jack it up when I blew out the rear passenger side tire. As I was using the OEM jack at one of the rear jack points, pieces of rusted metal just started flaking off. It's like this on both sides and the rocker panels are rusted out about half-way to the front of the vehicle. You can't really see this rust damage unless you peek under the car, because the plastic thankfully covers it up (although I have a bit of body rust above the rear wheel wells). Besides that everything works great and I love this car honestly. The heated seats, heated mirrors, and AWD drivetrain make it very nice to own in the winter.
Have the same BattleBoy. Got alot of rust. Has 240k About Miles on her. Only use her for the winter. Much more rust then this. Wisconsin is harsher… Has drivin to CO also 2 times.
I am looking for an old version wagon the Subaru outback, these days I found 2004 3.0 /ANIVERSARY EDITION one with only 182,768 KM, in Canada. Do you think such an old car can still be reliable, I don’t know much about the fixing, super eager to pick up a simple and easily maintained car. Need your advice and told:) 🤜🤛
AS long as it's not rusted out it should be pretty solid. They seem to be very reliable but I would expect to have a budget for replacing wear/tear items and anything else that may need to be replaced with any car of that age/mileage.
It would definitely be pushing it however you can do it. Wouldn't recommend it though as the handling and braking is not suited for 90mph speeds on anything but a wide open highway.
If it runs, drives and passes any local emission/ inspection standards than I’d say why not. You just should be prepared to replace nearly every major component on the car unless otherwise serviced. Good luck!

@@steveswiat Thanks 👍
How does it do around 90 mph on the highway? On CT highways everyone cruises at 80 lmao

Hello. Will buying one with 240k miles be too much? only had one owner
