  • How to turn your garage into a super sweet and comfortable office.
    Since we're stuck at home for the foreseeable future, I have seized the garage of our house and I am renovating it into my editing office.. I had to scrape popcorn ceiling and acid etch the concrete floor in order to paint them matte black! I went with bright white walls so that I could use track lighting just above them with RGB Philips Hue lights in order to set the mood.
    One part epoxy floor.

      That’s funny, I forgot that was like that. It had been there for a day and I figured it wanted some light so it wouldn’t start to wilt and then I never moved it...

      Thank you! It was the best decision ever.. My wife has her own big office we made out of what used to be a screened in porch - got hard walls and an AC and now we both have TONs of room and privacy

      Hahaha, I literally can not comprehend how people can do real work and have a flawlessly neat desk.. I feel like IM constantly plugging in memory cards o r hard drives or headphones or microphones or cameras and everything has its own cord just laying out there ready to be grabbed!
      What do they do, bend down under the desk anytime they want to charge their phone!? Do they pull out a drawer and reach behind their monitor to plug a camlink in???? no thank you :)

      @@SPACEDESIGNWAREHOUSE Yes! Gosh, finally a creative that is not so anal about how their desks "appear"... And I always know where the stuff is... where I left it! I always prep my clients with this line: it's practically a photo workshop, not a pinterest post, so just deal with it.

    Yeahhhhhh, Mauratic acid is some nasty stuff that should be used with EXTREME caution. Not with crocks lol. But glad you made it out fine and the office looks absolutely awesome.

    Really nice video. What video editing program do you use and you did a great job with the editing. How did you learn to do that so well? I am an amateur so I appreciate it.

    How do you control moisture, temp swings, etc. from affecting your gear?

    • @SPACEDESIGNWAREHOUSE
      @SPACEDESIGNWAREHOUSE  2 года назад

      I have two separate window AC units now out there - with one of them I ran ducting to blow on my PC/mining computers to keep them dry and cool, and the other AC keeps the air temperature at 76 and dry(ish). Because, yeah, Florida is very humid. I also redid the weather sealing on the garage door and the back door since filming this

    Heard you mentioned Orlando in your video, wondering how hot or cold the new home office is getting and what kind of permits you had to obtain.

    • @SPACEDESIGNWAREHOUSE
      @SPACEDESIGNWAREHOUSE  Год назад

      Well we have solar covering our whole roof and actually make more power than we use, so I tend to leave the door between the house and the garage open which regulates the temperature surprisingly well! The garage walls are concrete and on the north side of the property so there’s no sun hitting it.
      At the moment we’re having very nice temps in the 60’s and 70’s, looks like it’ll be a chilly weekend in the 50’s.
      I don’t know enough about permits to have even thought of getting any!:)

    Hello! Considering converting my garage. I may have missed it, but do you have your garage office on the central air conditioning?

    • @SPACEDESIGNWAREHOUSE
      @SPACEDESIGNWAREHOUSE  3 года назад +1

      I dont, unfortunately.. But luckily my garage has a window, so I bought a 10,000 BTU AC unit that does a perfect job keeping it cool. And luckily, the garage is on the north side of my house so it doesn't get any direct sunlight. Im in Florida where the sun is just so dang strong!

      J-WIllz Online Its been really comfortable so far! I do have a window in there and I put a 10,000btu AC unit in it. The garage is on the north side of my house so it never gets hit by direct sunlight also.
      And I’m in Florida so it doesn’t really get very cold ever.
