  • Hello, and welcome back to another train trip report on my channel. For this week's video I am at Warszawa Centralna (in Poland's capital, Warsaw), and will be travelling to Iława Główna with PKP InterCity on one of their modern PKP ED160 'Stadler FLIRT' units, in their First Class.
    This journey starts at the pleasant Warszawa Centralna station, which is the central station/main station in Poland's capital, and a key hub for rail connections around the continent. After, the train heads east to Warszawa Wschodnia, before passing close to Warsaw Modlin Airport, then continuing north to Iława.
    These units are helping to replace some of the more battered hauled stock on PKP InterCity services, with reclining seats in both classes, and a small restaurant, these 160km/h (100mph) sets are decently equipped for medium distance travel in Poland. Compared to many other Stadler FLIRT trains, there are exceptionally well kitted out, and possibly the best Stadler FLIRT trains in service in my opinion!
    Restaurant menu link: www.vagonweb.cz/razeni/menu/2...
    Hope you enjoy the video, as the train was fun to ride.

    8:17 they look similar because Poland has bought the license in 1959. The first type of license built unit were EU06 units (no longer in service, but they can be found in some railway museums). EU07/EP07 is a development of EU06, also some freight units were based on EU06.
    EU stands for Elektryczna Uniwersalna (Electric, Universal) which means can be used for hauling passenger and freight trains. T means "transportowa" (freight only) and P "pasażerska" (passenger only). S at the beginnig stands for "spalinowa" (lit. "with combustion engine") and is used for diesel-powered units. "D" (for example ED160, ED250) stands for "dalekobieżny" (pol. "for long distances")

    GREAT video and train review, though I am sad many of the locomotive / coach trains are going to these MU trainsets...they'll learn their lesson....many are "limited capacity, fixed formation" and can't be adjusted for peak or slack periods of travel...........looks like your train would have fit in all of 2 coaches and a food car.
    BTW...I love the video when you got to the food car, (9:40), the blonde in the long boots was great looking, but only a quick glimpse...sad

    I think that the Class 745/0 are also been built for intercity style or intercity luxury which has replaced the Class 90 Mk3 on the London Liverpool Street-Norwich main line service and the Class 745/1 that is working on the Stansted Express service which has replaced the Class 379 Electrostars.

    Thanks for your well done presentation! It's interesting to see a Stadler Flirt used for real long distance routes. The ones we have here in Switzerland are mostly used regionally, some few ones on interregional lines like the SOB Traverso Flirt or the BLS Mika Flirt . But even these routes are 2h maximum; Switzerland is a small country after all.
    They PKP Inercity is undoubtly better equipped for long distance travels with a real Bistro and not just vending machines. The seats also look a bit more comfy and there's more soundproofing separation between compartements.
    I do like the interior style of the Mika/Traverso better though, with wood applications, taller windows and a more modern feel in general.
    Check it out here for comparison:
    BLS Mika Flirt: ruclips.net/video/6ARduNHVf3o/видео.html

    I actually compared both types and I prefer Pesa Dart, as it has more comfortable Kiel seats (instead of Grammers on Flirt) and is a little smoother runner. It actually has an ambience of a high-speed train. But from the other point of view, the Flirt is much more reliable, while Pesa products all have regular technical troubles. No wonder that PKP IC decided to buy more Flirt Intercity trains now.
    Btw, have you noticed that this train is very similar to ÖBB/ČD Railjet in many details? The seats are the same, the bar compartment is similar...

    • @jmsmilfajt
      @jmsmilfajt 3 года назад +1

      I agree, there are many similar interior perks between this Flirt and Railjets, however the interior itself is just lower quality than in Railjets. In Railjets there are many wooden, stainless steel decors while here, it's mostly just hard plastic. Also the pressure-tight design of Railjets does a lot. I like this train (and flirts generally) a lot, I just prefer the Pesa's approach here.

    • @mike.5050
      @mike.5050 3 года назад +1

      @@jmsmilfajt but this PKP IC standards of the interiors, for maintance and cleaning. Regarding PESA Dart, somehow I do not like this "Polish Pendolino", who the hell was so brave to call Pesa product as Pendolino? Design-funny, quality-typical for PESA (leaves a lot to be desired), reliability--again leaves a lot to be desired. Just compare first units when they launched this EMU and later ones.

    • @markoobid2005
      @markoobid2005 3 года назад

      @kkac well, I found the suspension actually little better than on Flirt. I travelled on Wroclaw - Czestochowa - Koluszki line aboard, and I liked them. About the seats, really you think they are better on Flirt? The Dart seats (Kiel Comfortline) have double tray tables, better shape, more comfortable headrest.
      But the quality, yes, there it suffers. Our train suffered from the air conditioning failure and had to be restarted on the first stop after Wroclaw. Funny thing: the same happened to me a day before when travelling on another Pesa product, Link II DMU, too. On the other side, Flirt remains Flirt - robust, but quality train.
      Also, when speaking about Polish factories, I find Newag products very good, especially the Impuls regional unit, which can easily cope with Stadler and Alstom products, and is much better than, for example, crappy CAF things.

    • @comdo831
      @comdo831 3 года назад

      PKP decided to go for Flirt because FLIRT was CHEAPER than DART. That was the sole reason. All the people here moaning about suspension, seats, and the likes, you don't know what you're talking about.

    I know that I write this comment long after the publication of the film, but in the distant future, 1-2 years, you should visit Dąbrowa Górnicza, the largest city in the Silesian Voivodeship. There is a historic train station there from 1888, which will be renovated, the renovation of the station itself is coming to an end but I feel that it will be beautiful and you should go there, for example, from Katowice to Dąbrowa Górnicza
