I found your channel this past summer. I watch all of the new posts and catch up on older ones as time permits. They are all of great educational value. Y'all are doing a great job. Thank you.
Craig and I have been married for 45 years. All our married lives we dreamed of gardening, but our jobs took us to places where we really couldn't. We recently retired--Craig is 65 and I am 64--and moved to a doublewide trailer in South Carolina with a back yard large enough for us to have a garden. We can't really bend over comfortably anymore. We are working on raised beds, and in the meantime, we sit or kneel on the ground to plant and weed, etc. These tools would be very helpful now and when the raised beds get put in. Thank you for considering us in your contest.
Travis and Gred love all your shows have archived and beng watched all of them. I have been gardening now for 3 seasons this year and going at it hard. My grandfather loves seeing the garden and enjoys it. He quit gardening few years back when he lost his right arm from elbow down (he was right handed) in a hunting accident. Seeing me gardening he is interested in getting back in it gonna build him few raised beds before spring and the tools would be great help
Wow those tools look amazing. That wide pointed shovel will be handy for changing up my circle beds in the spring, the hoe claw will be great to reach the center of my raised beds. I’m all about aging in place and making things easier to manage the gardens. The fork tool will be great to aerate....I think the short length is the trick..love the Hoss short single tine cultivator I bought a few weeks ago. Oh and my sister in law helped me harvest this week and she was reluctant to let me have my Hoss hod back...LOL she loved it as much as I do!!!
I'd appreciate these tools because my wife and I are trying to grow quality food and teach our children to be good stewards of the land. I’m 65 years old and under 5 feet short. I’m new to homesteading...better late than never...and new to gardening. I need all the help I can get and would be proud to use “me sized” tools that were made in America.
Those hand tools would work great for me here. The reason is because I have tight areas here at my house that I work in with my raised beds. So full length tools just really are difficult to maneuver around my beds. There really are no tools that are sold at Lowe’s that I would actually purchase because of how cheaply they’re made. I’ve purchased them before and the handles always break and I end up putting my own custom handles on. Just check out some of my garden tour videos on our channel and you’ll see I’m in tight spots and and large pots. Thanks for the opportunity to get my hands on some great American made, quality tools. Keep up the great work fellas!!!

Hey guys!!! Really enjoy watching your videos! This is my first year gardening. I have a several raised beds and some containers. I'm thinking about putting in a raised bed next year and I believe theses tools will help in planting and maintaining this bed. Might also try the rake in the large bed for weeding around plants. Thanks for the opportunity.
Hoss Tools No, what you’re referring to is Agribon. Protectnet is a fine netting that’s both air and light permeable (100%) that offers zero frost protection that comes into its own during the summer because heat doesn’t build up inside of the tunnel.
We met with the seed tray manufacturer last week. They recommended a 338 instead of a 288 cell tray. We're waiting for some samples to make sure we like them and then we'll order several pallets and put them on the site. Still probably a couple months out.
Thank you for the info on the mustard greens. Was wondering which one was best for my nematode problem. Just learned I had a problem after I dug up my plants. I started urban farming this year and am a local marketeer. Just found your wonderful youtube channel and webstore last week. Thanks for all the great content.
I am starting all over. The highway dept. even took all my trees except in my front yard. i will have to start with raised beds this coming spring. Those tools would come in handy!
I need these tools because I would like to have a good quality set of tools. I am submitting a little later on this give away, but consider this as a submission for next time. Thanks.
@@gardeningwithhoss good morning and thanks for the reply. I will be on the lookout. Next question, I living in Georgia also not was wondering if there a opertunities for small gardens to grow them for personal use. I am interested in using the plants for green mulch and using for eating? Thanks for any information.
I’d love to have some new tools. I have 5 raised beds and every time I buy some tools, they never last. I’ve tried buying from different places. I’m at the point now where my husband is not letting me buy anymore. 😐 it would help me with my rooting veggies and sifting through to break up soil that has settled a little. I’ve been doing good at trying to keep up with raised beds. But can’t do it a without tools. Thanks for helping me with my cabbage/collard greens problem. 😂
I would love to have a nice set of tools this was my first year gardening. I'm disable with very tight budget, but I love getting my hands in the drit. And with ya'lls RUclips channel I'm learning so much thank yall for helping us first time gardner's.
Hello, Rick and Lydia from Mobile putting out our first garden this fall. We are short on hand tools and would love those tools. We also have a small youtube channel.
Had our first mess of All Top Turnip greens tonight. They were great. What is the best way to store the turnip greens? Since we are not pulling the roots they seem to wilt within a few hours. Zone 8 Direct seeded
My parents/grandparents always went ahead and cooked theirs, and froze in bags. Takes less space, then just heat and eat. Cook already done. But you can just blanche them down, freeze, and cook later.
I need the tools because I am still fighting black berries in my back yard where me garden will be, would be like having HOSS starter manual Non Wheel hoe ..... love your videos hope your business is very successful. Thanks for the vids
Love your show! My husband and I watch every week! Keep up great work. We are in Jackson Georgia and appreciate the great information on the white flies and worms.
I need the tools. I have 50% raised beds and then another 50% of lager raised beds.lol under neath is dense clay. Those tools would help me plant my HOSS seeds quicker giving me more time. which equals a larger garden and more HOSS seeds. Well that and im the first to comment.! Haha.
Great show, as usual, guys! Down here in Central Florida it seems like the bug and disease pressure is worse in the Spring and Summer. So far, I haven't seen any little nasty critters on my plants, but I've got my arsenal of products just in the event something decides to start munching. I walk the garden first thing every morning, and periodically during the day - So far, so good!
We are in the process of building a house with a January close date. I will be building 5 3ftx12ft raised beds to get started in the spring. I'm already working on my chicken manure compost for the first planting in the new bed. I need some high quality soil working tools.
Great video guys as always. I would like to have a set of those tools because I’m blind and I have taken regular size tools and shorten the handles so I could get closer to the plants so I wouldn’t chop them up. Thanks for all that you share. Ken the blind gardener
Hey guys, love your programs! I look forward to them each week. Regarding your shipping, it is the best I have dealt with. Never a delay, always on time. I’d be very happy if I were to get the tools you are giving away. I’m 70 Y.O. with a bad back going into surgery in 6 weeks and I need all the help I can get. I will be using them in small garden spaces to plant the following seeds and things I bought from HOSS Tools over the last 8 weeks, but had not been able to plant yet because of the South Texas heat ( I did get to go outside today and mix soil because it was less than 95 degrees!) Merlin Beet Natsuguro Bunching Onion Champion Radish Stowell's Evergreen Sweet Corn Mr. Big Pea Yellow Pear Tomato Hortonova Trellis Netting All the Best! And keep up the great work!
Can you mix all of these like the complete disease control, BT, Ben oil, liq cop, and Spinozad together in their recommended mixing rates per gallon? Great show.
I would love those tools, I converted my backyard into a garden this year and planted my first cover crop to build my soil up for spring planting (winter rye, hairy vetch, austrian winter pea). Those tools would be a huge help come planting time in just a couple months.
The handle broke on my favorite little shovel that I'd had for years and I tried fixing it a few times but it finally gave up the ghost. The one you showed looks nice and sturdy for the clay soil around my place. And the rake would be perfect for Fall-time overseeding to help scratch the grass seed into small patches in the yard. I really enjoy your videos and wish you continued success.
We'll continue to have some of both. We'll get untreated when we can, but some of the hybrid, disease-resistant varieties only are available in treated form.
Great show Guys! Finally cooling down also in Arizona, zone 9b. Should be in the mid 80's to the low 90's next week, FINALLY! The reason why I'd like to win your give away is the fact that I grow in raised beds because I have a really bad Bermuda Grass problem. Plus the three little tools are cute, the wife says. And remember, just like the Old Sodbuster says," If you want to grow your garden like a Boss, then you gotta shop at Hoss. Hoss Tools.com that is."
I’m in Phoenix and just starting prime growing season! I literally just put in 3 brand new raised beds and these tools would come in perfect. However..- I have the financial means to purchase what I need. Please give them to someone who has a financial need. 😊 I do have a question though. I STRUGGLE with beets. You mentioned doing transplants which I tried and failed. Can you do a video or segment on how to start beets. How long do you grow before setting out. Etc. much appreciated!! (Another great show!)
Yes, video please!!! Mine get that circaspora you just mentioned in this video, probably from watering in evening after hot day ends, then dew sets in all night. Chard not as bad, but some. Zone 8A.
Do those worms glow with a black light like tobacco or tomato hornworms? How early will the worms start attacking the plants? Is it better to cover the plants in the fall when it’s raining all the time? Do all these sprays wash off in the rain? Thanks
Never tried a blacklight. But if they're there, you can usually catch them at night. Row cover works great as well. The sprays stick fairly well, but you wouldn't want to spray if it was about to rain the next day.
These nice tools look like a wonderful fit for not only my small Florida patch, but also for my more senior style of gardening...I do find longer handled tools becoming a bit more of a physical demand. I would really like to work the patch seated and these tools look like they can get the job done! More work...more tasty food!
I have a neighbor that livesclose to me through the woods and across the creek he has a nice size garden he is a older fellow and his tools are held together with duct tape
@@gardeningwithhoss . All his tools hes had for years they are worn out. A lot of seeds that I bought from y'all I have given him in the past. Almost 90 still in the garden everyday
Thank you for getting your orders out quickly -- mine went out quickly because we can see tracking data. But South Georgia and South Carolina must not be connected - LOL! Transit times with carriers always take 3-4 days to get to/through a major hub and back out to us. Apparently no direct routes. You are less than 5 hours from us direct, but my 2 shipments each took 4 days to receive. I have relatives in Southwest Georgia and it has always been that way to ship anything. Telephone connections have always been slow also. Go figure! All Top Turnip transplants in my new Hoss module trays were moved to garden this week and are about 6" tall. Same for Tiger Collards and Scarlet Kale. Establishing well, and not long to outer leaf harvests. Beds tented with mesh to keep moths/worms off. Not sure what I did to spinach, probably sowed to trays too early/hot, or possibly washed them out while watering. None sprouted (purchased these elsewhere before I found you).
Those shipping hubs can surely cause things to take longer than it should to deliver. Spinach doesn't like hot soil for germination. Should be much better now.
Do I need to worry about worm pressure once weve had frost? It hit 21 last night. I've been spraying weekly on my brassicas but was hoping I could quit during the cooler weather
If anyone knows what this creature is please respond, I want more of them. Here in the lower Ohio river valley I've issues with tomato horn worms. If I can find them I just pick them off but if missed they can decimate a plant overnight. But the last 2 years my horn worm problem has been taken care of by itself. When inspecting my plants I started noticing horn worms that were emaciated, dead and dying with what looked like a row of very small rice shaped eggs down along it's back, every one of the worms had this. I suspect some kind of Wasp because I've seen this in other bugs, but I've yet to witness what it actually is.
I wish y’all had a truckload of these tools. According to the comments, everyone could surely use them. Even myself 😇. Good luck and God bless you each and every one
I would be proud to have tools like that, my tools are old and falling apart so I could sure use them. And I’d like to know what brand of overalls does Greg wear, I like the look. thanks guys.
I need those tools because every short handled tool, especially shovels, has been bent in my hard rocky clay soil. Mostly when my husband uses his Samson strength.
Well, as I'm over-run with tools myself (years of impulse buys...bad Sherry, BAD!), I don't need any more, so GOOD LUCK to all those who've commented! 😁
I look forward to your garden show every week. My Savanah Sweets are finally sprouting, I was beginning to think they weren't going to germinate at all. My collards, turnips, mustard and butter crunch lettuce are all doing good. Had my garlic in the fridge for 21 days and am going to plant them tomorrow, if the good Lord be willing. The only turnip I like is the root, and I eat it raw. The only greens I like is lettuce . I need those tools because I've had two back surgeries and I can't stand or bend for more than a few minutes. I can sit on a stool and work with those tools. You have my address on my orders from ya'll. 😊 Travis try the sweet potato leaves, cook them like your turnips or mustard, I'm told by one of my pastors that they are delicious.
Would love the tools. We have moved to OK and trying to start our homestead after our retirement. So different than planting and gardening in NE where we came from. Quality tools would be helpful as we break new ground and try to make a go of a garden next spring.
May I ask who got the tools? I'm praying it will be someone who will be blessed. Tell me are you father and son ? Your vlogs are a great opportunity to learn. I am the liquid that you are showing this morning are very good.
If you’re growing an insect pollinator crop, and have worms, aphids, etc etc.. how do you spray but not kill the bees that land on the flowers? I live in SW FL and have yet to figure out a non tedious way of doing this.
We spray late in the evenings or at night, when the pollinators have gone to bed. We have a bee hive near our garden and have never seen any effect on them.
I am in the same zone as y'all. I watched every video about growing onions. However, I must have missed when to plant the seeds? How long does it take from seed to transplant size? Am I too late?
Not too late. Start soon and it should take about 6 weeks for them to be ready to put in the ground. As long as you get them in the ground in November or early December, you'll be fine.
I would like to win the tools for my mama and daddy. They are in their late 70's and arnt able to garden like they use to (due to age and health) and have gone more to raised beds and containers. Me and Daddy were talking just last week about he cant find any good quality garden tools for raised bed and containers, he doesnt do the whole internet thing.
I would like to have the tools but give them to someone else. I can afford to buy them. I have a question. What's y'all's feelings on stuff like sevin dust?
It works, but you have to wait quite a while before the vegetables are safe to eat. With products like B.t. and spinosad, you can consume in a couple days.
@@gardeningwithhoss Thanks for the reply. I was trying to get by without the pesticides, but there is no way. All I had used in the past was sevin. I will give some of your products a try. Appreciate the channel.

Good luck with your new raised bed Larry! Hope you have a great garden next year!
I don’t grow many Brassicas but what I do I cover with Protectnet. It works like a charm against flea beetles too.
Is that like floating row cover?
Hoss Tools No, what you’re referring to is Agribon. Protectnet is a fine netting that’s both air and light permeable (100%) that offers zero frost protection that comes into its own during the summer because heat doesn’t build up inside of the tunnel.
I would love to win your tools. I have not bought garden tools for 14 years. Been happily using my old tools.
Those must be some good tools if they're still going after 14 years!
I am watching all your videos and planning my dream garden and need some dream tools!! Send those my way! Thanks Hoss Tools!!!
That's an exciting time. Dream gardens are always fun to plan.
Any update on the seed trays.
Glad you found us Graham! Welcome!
I am starting all over. The highway dept. even took all my trees except in my front yard. i will have to start with raised beds this coming spring. Those tools would come in handy!
Good luck with your new garden!
I need these tools because I would like to have a good quality set of tools. I am submitting a little later on this give away, but consider this as a submission for next time. Thanks.
We've already given those away, but stay tuned because we'll do other giveaways every now and then.
Our pleasure. Our tools are built to last a lifetime. We'll be here when you need us.
I've always transplanted all my turnips.
It worked very well for us.
Johnny, this includes the purple top as well, correct? and did the turnip roots come out an average size? thanks
@@timrudd6363 Hey Tim, I sure have and the roots grew just fine.
THanks Johnny! I’m in N.C. Zone 7-B. Was curious about your location and when you set out the purple globe transplants in the spring and fall
I have a small garden. Those would be perfect
Yes they would!
Starting an organic plant start business this coming Spring... definitely could use these tools to get things going! 💚
Good luck with your plant business!
Looks like Nestor is going to bring you some rain.
Yes, we could use some more.
I would love to have a nice set of tools this was my first year gardening. I'm disable with very tight budget, but I love getting my hands in the drit. And with ya'lls RUclips channel I'm learning so much thank yall for helping us first time gardner's.
Always good to see beginner gardeners on the channel!
Hello, Rick and Lydia from Mobile putting out our first garden this fall. We are short on hand tools and would love those tools. We also have a small youtube channel.
Hello! We love Mobile -- such a fun town.
I don't have any garden tools to speak of, unless a long handle hoe counts. That's why I need them.
Can't ever have enough garden tools!
That is one of the qualities that I love about Hoss is that same day shipping that's what customers really want y'all have nailed it
Thanks for being a great customer Gary!
Hi! How did you cook the turnip greens? Thank you!!!
We put them in a pot with some ham hock or neck bone and simmer til tender.
I need them because they free and i love free stuff
Don't we all!
Had our first mess of All Top Turnip greens tonight. They were great. What is the best way to store the turnip greens? Since we are not pulling the roots they seem to wilt within a few hours.
Zone 8
Direct seeded
Put them in a bag in the fridge and poke a few holes in the bag.
My parents/grandparents always went ahead and cooked theirs, and froze in bags. Takes less space, then just heat and eat. Cook already done. But you can just blanche them down, freeze, and cook later.
Thanks for sending my order so quickly.
You're welcome!
I need the tools because I am still fighting black berries in my back yard where me garden will be, would be like having HOSS starter manual Non Wheel hoe ..... love your videos hope your business is very successful. Thanks for the vids
Thanks Cordovan. Hope you get those blackberries under control!
What about the watering trays that go under the seed trays
Those are on a boat.
Love your show! My husband and I watch every week! Keep up great work. We are in Jackson Georgia and appreciate the great information on the white flies and worms.
Glad you and your husband enjoy the show!
I need the tools. I have 50% raised beds and then another 50% of lager raised beds.lol under neath is dense clay. Those tools would help me plant my HOSS seeds quicker giving me more time. which equals a larger garden and more HOSS seeds. Well that and im the first to comment.! Haha.
Congrats on being the first!
Would love those tools. My wife and I both have degenerative arthritis and this will help in our raised beds.
They are certainly perfect for raised bed gardening.
Sounds like you're on full-fledged critter patrol!
We are in the process of building a house with a January close date. I will be building 5 3ftx12ft raised beds to get started in the spring. I'm already working on my chicken manure compost for the first planting in the new bed. I need some high quality soil working tools.
That chicken manure compost is good stuff!
Danny from Deep South has a good video on digging or plowing sweet potatoes today or yesterday
Thanks for letting us know Jimmy! We'll have to go watch that.
Great video guys as always. I would like to have a set of those tools because I’m blind and I have taken regular size tools and shorten the handles so I could get closer to the plants so I wouldn’t chop them up. Thanks for all that you share. Ken the blind gardener
Thanks for always watching and commenting Ken!
I will be using them in small garden spaces to plant the following seeds and things I bought from HOSS Tools over the last 8 weeks, but had not been able to plant yet because of the South Texas heat ( I did get to go outside today and mix soil because it was less than 95 degrees!)
Merlin Beet
Natsuguro Bunching Onion
Champion Radish
Stowell's Evergreen Sweet Corn
Mr. Big Pea
Yellow Pear Tomato
Hortonova Trellis Netting
All the Best! And keep up the great work!
Glad you got your orders in a timely manner! And we hope it cools down for you soon!
Can you mix all of these like the complete disease control, BT, Ben oil, liq cop, and Spinozad together in their recommended mixing rates per gallon? Great show.
You could, but mixing Bt and Spinosad would be a waste since they target the same thing.
Thanks
That's really good to know about yalls shipping. I plan on ordering my stuff from yall for my coming up spring garden.
We don't like waiting on things to ship. We figure our customers feel the same way.
Did you say liquid cop on pear trees ?
Yes.
I just change wicking beds. had to put them 13" off the ground to save the old back.
That works!
Can I mix BT, hort oil and complete disease control in one spraying container?
Oh yeah! We do it all the time!
@@gardeningwithhoss Would you use the BT, Neem oil and Complete disease control in the spring/summer for tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, ect?
I would love those tools, I converted my backyard into a garden this year and planted my first cover crop to build my soil up for spring planting (winter rye, hairy vetch, austrian winter pea). Those tools would be a huge help come planting time in just a couple months.
Those cover crops should do wonders for your new garden!
They are definitely sturdy enough for heavy soils!
Hi Travis did Hoss tools decide if they're going to sell treated or untreated seeds ?
We'll continue to have some of both. We'll get untreated when we can, but some of the hybrid, disease-resistant varieties only are available in treated form.
What's the difference between insecticidal soap and horticultural oil? And which one would be better in the summer?
They are different products. Wouldn't use either in the summer because it can damage plants if applied when hot.
Don't know how you do the quick shipping,. But keep doing it!.
We some hard working folks that make it happen.
That bermudagrass is tough stuff.
Sure we can talk more about the beets. We just transplanted some (video on that next week) and just started more in the greenhouse.
These are definitely some high-quality sit down tools!
I have a neighbor that livesclose to me through the woods and across the creek he has a nice size garden he is a older fellow and his tools are held together with duct tape
Duct tape can fix just about anything!
@@gardeningwithhoss . All his tools hes had for years they are worn out. A lot of seeds that I bought from y'all I have given him in the past. Almost 90 still in the garden everyday
Can you spray cucumbers and lettuce with thuricide when almost ready to eat?
All compounds are different. You will need to read the label to see.
The pressure should diminish with the frost.
Parastic wasps I believe. Deep South Homestead has a video showing them up close. Pretty dang cool!
Something is attacking my brassicas and eating them. The damage looks Like
The squash vine borer. Can you let me to the right treatment?
Is it eating the stems or the leaves?
It’s eating the stems.
I wish y’all had a truckload of these tools. According to the comments, everyone could surely use them. Even myself 😇. Good luck and God bless you each and every one
We might just have to add them after all these comments!
I would be proud to have tools like that, my tools are old and falling apart so I could sure use them. And I’d like to know what brand of overalls does Greg wear, I like the look. thanks guys.
He wears Pointer low back overalls.
I need those tools because every short handled tool, especially shovels, has been bent in my hard rocky clay soil. Mostly when my husband uses his Samson strength.
These are very well made. They'll hold up in any kind of soil.
They're are lots of different garden chores to use them for but they would definitely help out diggin taters.
Yes it would!
Well, as I'm over-run with tools myself (years of impulse buys...bad Sherry, BAD!), I don't need any more, so GOOD LUCK to all those who've commented! 😁
Haha! We are the same way -- can never have enough tools!
Travis try the sweet potato leaves, cook them like your turnips or mustard, I'm told by one of my pastors that they are delicious.
We've heard from many folks that the sweet potato leaves are quite tasty -- just have never tried them.
Would love the tools. We have moved to OK and trying to start our homestead after our retirement. So different than planting and gardening in NE where we came from. Quality tools would be helpful as we break new ground and try to make a go of a garden next spring.
Best of luck with your new homestead in Oklahoma!
May I ask who got the tools? I'm praying it will be someone who will be blessed. Tell me are you father and son ? Your vlogs are a great opportunity to learn. I am the liquid that you are showing this morning are very good.
We'll announce it on next week's show!
My Swiss chard gets devastated by leaf miner and my spinach. what would you recommend against leaf miner and other boring insects? 6b idaho
Neem Oil and Horticultural Oil work great on greens. Rotate them and that should help.
also something is eating my root vegetables roots. they kinda wilt and when i tug at them lightly they pop right out. with very little roots.
Probably a vole. They are eating my carrots.
Rats will do that to ours when the carrots start to get bigger.
@@gardeningwithhoss not rats. Must be insect or lava in he soil..The roots are there just weak and tiny.
I have a lil cabbage looper damage nothing major I've been spraying morning and night so far it's very minimal
It's fairly easy to control if you stay on top of it.
I’m only 48” tall so those tools would be perfect for me.
Haha!
I really don't need those tools because I use a flat head screwdriver.
Haha. There's more than one way to skin a cat.
Hey Travis, send me them tools and i Will make you a dibble stick to try out, Greg seen it Thursday, didnt know if you have seen it yet.
I'll have to track him down to see it myself!
We've got quite a few short-handle tools, many with a lifetime warranty. Might have to "do the internet" for them.
I need those tools because every year I have to buy new tools. They either bend out of shape or break and detach from the handle.
You get what you pay for when it comes to gardening tools. It's better to get some that are built to last a lifetime.
Appreciate the channel.
i still have cucumber beetles battling me.
Persistence is key.
I need those tools cause they’ll fit my wife’s hands perfectly!!
Haha. Be careful or she might put you to work!
I would love to win, but so would everyone else. I've been wanting to get some good quality hand tools, because I don't have any but my hands.
Thanks for the opportunity to win. :)
Hi Amanda. Thanks for watching!
I'm a disabled veteran and I could use these from my wheelchair.
Thank you for your service Linda!
I’d love to have those quality tools since this is my first year gardening and am trying to find tools to make it easier for me as I suffer from rheumatoid arthritis. It takes me a bit longer to prepare the ground and anything that makes it easier with my physical limitations would be awesome.
Congrats on your first year gardening! Such an exciting time!
