This video was very inspirational. I am a 65 year old retired bus operator in New York City. I've had the desire to buy a custom van and hit the road for years. But I keep telling myself " you're too old to do that now ". Money wouldn't be a problem, I get a generous pension from the NYC Transit Authority and my Social Security and a monthly check from the Navy. it's just me telling me I'm too old to start now. But looking at this video. I really felt what you were saying. Thank you for the talk and sharing your story. You've pushed me alot closer to the lifestyle than I was before I saw this video. Thanks buddy 👍👍and you travel safe and be healthy.
Do it you will never regret seeing this beautiful country try.Its my dream to do this but right now is not the time for me but sounds like you are ready
I love in the very start of the video he talks about not seeing people for weeks. To me that sounds perfect. Im just tired of being around people. Everybody only thinks of themselves and are turning into a bunch of rude aholes.
It's nice to see people doing something different, not just zombie-ized in front of a TV. I live in a tiny house behind my son's house, which I sold him for cheap. Got a campervan, just retired, and I'm headed out when it warms up :)
I think I understand what you're saying and doing. I just turned 70 and still have a pull and longing I can't quite express, like there's another chapter of my life that needs to be written. Will be watching...
I’m 72. If you feel it do it. Does not need to be done any particular way . Doesn’t need to be forever. I’m talking to myself also. Don’t want to spend my last years on the couch. I had a friend who went through a heart and kidney transplant. We did a road trip back to his childhood home town in Pennsylvania from California then back to his house. It was a great trip that we both struggled with doing but enjoyed.
You hit the nail on the head for me, Mr Cowboy. The first few lines you speak have been in my heart for a few months now. I've told my siblings and they think I'm nuts but that won't stop me. I'm a loner. I enjoy meeting new people and I love to socialize, but I also love my alone time. I told my family (sibs, I don't have kids) that my house is an anchor that keeps me from freedom. I have to continue working at 60 to pay for it. I figure if I sold my house and lived lean (like I usually do) I could live for 8 years in total freedom. Not sure why I'm telling you all this, but your video just gave me the final confirmation of my new life. Hope to see you on the road sometime so I can thank you! God bless, enjoy your freedom!
I've been pondering same thing I'm 63 get Social Security it's not very much but I wouldn't be tied down to my house if I sold my house I'd have more money for alcohol and crack
@@chameleon4206 I thought about that but then I'd still be burdened with maintaining a home and keeping it rented. I'd rather just cut the ties and downsize my burden to an RV 😊
At 60 you’re young enough to enjoy many more years depending on your health. Before you take off learn how to make RUclips videos and this could be a second source of income for you. Don’t burn bridges but go live your life.
You, sir are living the life I want. I'm 100% disabled veteran w/ VA pension coming in monthly. And it gives me the freedom I so want. Marty Robbins, great song!
at 73 have come full circle from hippiedom in so cal laguna beach in late 60's, to 9-5 good job 'n a mortgage, all the while dying on the vine...now having the time 'n means to do what I wish, I hear the echo Willie's "On the Road Again". back to nature and what nature provides. I feel better already. Cowboy, ever traveled to Mexico? Headed to Baja again this spring. also a singer/songwriter/guitar player. happy trails
That song was by Marty Robbins, love his western ballads. I'm going through the process of getting rid of my things before I head out on the road. Your video made a lot of sense to me. My home will be a minivan. I look forward to the freedom I've heard you talk about. I'm 64 and I want to live before I die.
Thanks for sharing, Cowboy! Boy howdy, you did do a number on that bus!! 73 years young & hitting the road...yessir! Moses was 80 years old when he led an entire nation outta Egypt & was a butt-kicker into his 100s...clearly, age is just a number some people wanna know & we can go-go-go until we decide to stop💪😎👍 God bless you, Cowboy🙏
I'm 62 and has been on the road RVing ( with a Ram Promaster Cargo Van) for the last 4 years. Good years and it is getting better as I'm figuring things out. I've visited the most amazing parks . I'm not saying this to knock anybody, but this cowboy embodies what the nomad life is supposed to be. Forget all of that social media picture worthy, glamour, trendy #van life stuff. The nomad life is in this guy soul and it's pretty stinking obvious!
Too much "stuff" is definitely a burden. I'm currently trying to shed some of that burden, preparing to get on the road. Thanks for sharing your story!
First let me qualify and quantify my opening remarks.....I spent five straight years out on the open road as a nomad. I inherited my dad's 1996 Gulfstream Conquest and "Connie" was home the whole time. Having shared that background, I applaud the way this man has so quickly and so eloquently distilled the wisdom and the ethos of nomadic life. He has only been at it for a month or two. Can you imagine what he will have to share by the time he has five years of nomad life under his sombrero! He makes me want to write a book about my own experience. Great video!!!
Just discovered your channel. What a treat to tour your home and hear your commentary. Looking forward to keeping up with your adventures. Stay safe and ENJOY!
At 18 I joined the USAF. They stationed me at Travis AFB and my mom told me we had some cousins out there. I met a second cousin living in a small trailer on a ranch outside San Ardo. Buck McCarty was on my Mom's side, and had spent his young life as a cowboy on the rodeo circuit. He had quit alcohol and lived with his dog, helping tend a ranch where his trailer was parked. Buck passed a year or so later when I was in Germany. Great man. A real Cowboy!
Looking forward to your wanderings. 73 here and living in a van. So I understand loving being alone in nature and then socializing when the womens caravans were near. Blessings!
I have that same pull within me to be a nomad! You already expressed by feelings in your reasons for being a nomad! I hope our paths cross on the road someday!

Growing old is inevetable, ageing is optional. I'm 74 and spent 2 years as a nomad, and then I decided to give my RV to my daughter because she needed a place to live and I missed having a garden. Well I've got my garden and now I miss my nomad life, I would love to be in the desert right now instead of the cold snow in North Idado.
Wow! Some words of wisdom from this gent! Make it happen , you only live once. Health and laziness are the only things holding you back! Stay healthy, stay safe!
America is a great and beautiful country, a person could live a life on the road, and never see all of her beauty... Still lots of wonderful people out there, freedom is a choice, to decide what one should do,stay in put, or hit the road, no time to waste, enjoy the precious gift of life,no matter where you are,or what you are doing... Peace be with you all!!!
Back in the 80's, I was driving on a backroad in Southern Arizona when I had come across this weatherbeaten older man on, what it had looked like, a sheepherder camp wagon pulled by horses. When I had asked him about it, he had said that it was his home.
You know cowboy we all have dreams but I feel sorry for the folks that never chased there dreams because if you don’t you haven’t lived! I’ve been chasing mine all my life 20 years a cattlemen and horse breeder then 30 years in Alaska and now I’m getting ready to move to the Yucatán Mexico! I’m 75 with no give up in me! Best of luck to you Brother and God Bless!
reaching the last days in a true way, honest and accepting, this is the real treasure... we dont just disappear when our bodies go- leaving this drama in a good way is noble and fcking cool. bravo cowboy.
Inspirational! At only 65 I have owned a bunch of vans for my self employed carpentry business and since semi retiring I have campered out my 1997 GMC savana high top and as a weekend van camper the nomad pull has grown. The wife and I are dug in to the property where we life. As artists our studio spaces are full of the tools of our crafts, leaving the house for the road would drastically change our life pattern that we love……however the hunger for the open road can be done while still owning our paid off house, the paid for cabin, and all the stuff that would fill 100 vans. Freedom for this aging artist/poet/skier/MTBer/ business owner is in my mind. Life is all about compromising when you have to, standing solid when you need to and staying true to yourself and embracing the changes that will come. The nomad in me calls out and I hear that voice among the other voices that are me, my road is still before me and many things are possible, as long as wonder and thanks go with me….I’m good.
It all comes down to discovering what makes you happy in life. For me I was nomad for almost a year now live in a travel trailer. I've never been so happy in my life. You can't compare zero, nothing to living like nomad. Find your freedom and God bless
Man do I get it!! I consider myself a nomad I was a self-employed auto transporter for over 35 years only home if I was lucky on the weekends. Now I’m retired bouncing off the walls waiting to get in my RV and hitting the road, my wife doesn’t really get into the full time RV life style like I prefer. I do sneak off for a few months at a time here and there to get my fix but then I have to return back to prison..lol 😂 I didn’t realize that I was a introvert until I retired and let me tell you it hit me like a wrecking ball. I really do envy you!! Good luck out there and safe travels and enjoy every minute.
I salute you, sir. I gave away, sold or threw out all the clutter and took my little camper and lived in Ireland. Washed dishes, gardening, painting, you name it, just to fuel up myself and the camper. All material possessions, just like yours, were in my camper. No TV, no microwave, washing machine, dishwasher...nothing. I was never happier. We are sold the illusion that buying 'things' will make us happy. Well, what do you know! It doesn't. It makes me happy to see you out on your bus, doing your thing, living how man was meant to live - as nomads. Settling into communities was only a convenient way for the government to collect taxes and keep you in servitude to an employer. The industrial revolution really saw this take off, but nomads, hobos, vagabonds saw through that BS. That's why anchored society detested them - envy! I wish you many interesting years in your old girl. May the road rise up to meet you The sun always be on your face The wind at your back From Scotland
That's a Marty Robbins song you're talking about, I'm sure somebody has probably already told you that. I was lucky enough to see Marty Robbins in concert about forty some years ago and he was great.
New to the channel...Nice to see "Wicked Felina" Thanks for sharing. I'm in my 70's came to New Mexico in 80. Lived in a pup tent up in the mountains in 3 ft. of snow that first year. Thought it warm after leaving Wisconsin. Then we got an used Ford van ( that was used in telephone service) had real good heavy suspension on it. We called her Ol Nelly. Cut out the top and built a top out of plywood and curved the front and had cupboards on both sides( so air dynamically it was great) even had windows. Thanks for sharing from New Mexico🌶️🌵
I am 54, married. Wife and I have a garden channel on here but some day we hope to do the same. Travel and see things before we get too old. I love to follow you and see how you ride in your bus. I just subscribed from Texas. I would rather have a bus before a coach or some RV. They seem to be made pretty cheap these days. Let us know things like the gas milage and how many times you gas up and how far you can go on a full tank. How you do the bathroom , heat, cool and water. Nice video. I like the country music you used in it. --chris
Cowboy is right about feeling free and going and seeing things that you enjoy that you wouldn't have seen by staying in one place, however sometimes it gets lonesome on the road. I sometimes think I want to start house keeping again but when I give it some serious thought Im happy out here in this beautiful world of nature. I have a Kodiak tent named Tumbleweed. I'll keep rolling along to where ever the wind blows. Lol 😂
It takes courage to pull up roots and go see what nature has to share. I say just do it we only live once. I'm a 64 year old female and I'm not going to sit around waiting to get older and die. I want to stay active and feel the wind and sunshine on my face. God bless you all . Being out doors puts me close to nature and Gods creations.
You are so right. It’s all about love, life that is. Love you have for your loved ones, your friends. After all when we leave this Earth, all we take is our memories and love we have given and received.
Deborah N Have you thought about doing short jaunts to start with then expand to longer times and miles. The planning is also Great fun. I did two trips to AK with only my 🐕 and was sometimes scared to death but like John Wayne said / Feel the fear and go ahead and saddle up! Guess Fear is part of being human 🥰 You could start by renting a rig maybe ? For few days to week.?? Good Luck Happy Trails / former nomad NM
This man narrated in a few minutes what freedom really means. What he said in his video can be converted into a good book or even into a movie. I was particularly touched by the part he had to say goodbye for his old horse. A nice history, thanks for sharing.
Good philosophy. The definition of freedom is wrapped up in doing what one wishes to do as opposed to doing what one is compelled to do. The difficulty therein is the ability (and desire) to know the difference.
Wow I just stumbled across your channel and I'm now subscriber because you named your bus after one of my favorite songs Marty Robbins El Paso! Says long distance owner operator truck driver I listen to that song with my wife as we go down the road it's one of my favorite songs so hats off to you cowboy I'll be watching and waiting for more of your content!
Love it, shipmate! I'm like you. I love being on the road. I haven't cut the ties and become a nomad...yet. Maybe all those years of being in the USN make us addicted to wanderlust! I'm a transplanted New Yorker in the West. Live in southern Nevada near Lake Mead. LOVE the desert. Hope to bump into you sometime. Be safe!
You are on the range cowboy and spending every night under the stars. It's a great thing for the spirit. I was wandering for five years with an RV and think it was the best years. Got tied up with bricks and mortar again, sold and am rving again. Will be on the look out for that Ford with the horns this winter in AZ. Subscribed and enjoying your story. Happy trails!

You know that moment when you have some faith being put back into how you feel about a lot of Americans, thanks fella, you're a good man , take care 🤙🦘
You are living the life that I want to be living someday. I hope I get there someday. Right now I can't. But after owning four homes and having and acquiring too many possessions, many of which I've now gotten rid of, you are living the exact dream of mine. Life right now financially is not good and neither is my health, so it's probably just a dream. But you expressed my thoughts exactly. Continued safety and good luck.
I'm like cowboy but I've driven a 18 wheeler all my life differnt companies different trucks seeing different sites the good and the bad of society and cites, I just go where freight takes me , I just call company if it breaks down, it bring peace to my soul being out on the road drinking coffee traveling at 65 going into a sunset, or watching a sunrise at your back and life coming awake ,all the people carelessly driving early morning to punch a clock hoping they won't get fired for being late so in a way I'm also classified as a cowboy 38 yrs of rigs companies and trucks
I guess I'm not quite a nomad, because I have a bunkhouse I call home. Even so I have to be on the move, there's something inside of me that wants to see what's up around the bend, and I want to do the things and go the places that most folks don't. I'm 22 and drive truck for a living, and I'm getting ready to go on a big river trip this summer. I can pack a bag in 5 minutes, and take a road trip with no destination in mind. Traveling allows me to think, sort things out in my head, and discover myself. Not all of us were born to work a 9-5 and retire at 65 in a subdivision. Thanks for sharing your wisdom sir, and God bless you
I’m right there with you, brother! Been nomadic since November 2021. I’m in Cibola AZ right now. I love the paleo-Hebrew! HalleluYah! Just subscribed, so I’m looking forward to watching your journey. Maybe someday our paths might cross!
Tonite was my first time seein Ya video , i have enjoyed the couple i've watched , Good Luck to Ya Sir & safe travels .Is that a 7.3 diesel ? what kinda of miles have ya got on it ??
Won’t be but a few more years, and I’ll be retiring, “hopefully“ and that’s what I’ll be doing is just what you’re doing. Maybe I’ll see you out there somewhere. I’d like to sit and have a cup of coffee with you and swap some cowboy stories with you. I grew up working cattle myself
Im 72 and have been thinking about jumping in my truck and taken a road trip. No where special just drive and avoid larger populated places and focus on the backroads. I have a shell on the back so I can just throw a small pad in there and sleep in my trucks bed. Every few days or so get myself a room.
I love that you "love every minute of it". I have to say that I'm quite jealous! Material possessions do weigh you down. The things you own end up owning you. Some things are a necessity however.

May the road rise up to meet you
The sun always be on your face
The wind at your back
From Scotland
Thanks for sharing from New Mexico🌶️🌵
looking forward to you coming back to the Driftless Area of Wisconsin. We have a spot reserved for you and Wicked Felina.
Hey just moved to the driftless area near viola.if your a meat eater, will have on farm store. Mangalitsa pork and beef.
What a contemplative soul. I am so happy you kept the temple menorah.
JW your a dying breed. Salt of the earth💙 I'm glad you've found your joy!
--chris
Just a quick comment about the choice of vehicle. A bus is built so much better than a camper or even a box truck. Well done.
I enjoyed your laid back style and I appreciate your thoughts about Freedom and Love. I have subscribed to your channel and I look forward to more.
Thank you for sharing. I love your down to earth attitude. Be safe and continue to enjoy what life brings to you!👏🌞
New to your channel. If I didn't have a wife. I would hit the road just like you. Get out and enjoy life on the road. Can't wait to see more.
I concur!!! Wife!
Don't let that stop you
@@cajunjamis9001 I concur!!! Husband!
Great video thank you
I am a 68 widow female. Would love to do this but scared to be by myself. You have a wonderful life.

Have you thought about doing short jaunts to start with then expand to longer times and miles. The planning is also Great fun.
I did two trips to AK with only my 🐕 and was sometimes scared to death but like John Wayne said / Feel the fear and go ahead and saddle up!
Guess Fear is part of being human 🥰
You could start by renting a rig maybe ? For few days to week.?? Good Luck
Happy Trails / former nomad

This man narrated in a few minutes what freedom really means. What he said in his video can be converted into a good book or even into a movie. I was particularly touched by the part he had to say goodbye for his old horse.
A nice history, thanks for sharing.
New Sub, 55 and ready for nomadic adventures... Great production as well.. As Grandma always said "Love Love Love"
Nice Job Man, one of the best videos I've seen. We're ever you go , who ever you meet I'm confident you'll be fine. Enjoy and God bless you.
I love the bus name! I like watching your videos. U have inspired me to enjoy life more!
Good philosophy. The definition of freedom is wrapped up in doing what one wishes to do as opposed to doing what one is compelled to do. The difficulty therein is the ability (and desire) to know the difference.
Right behind you cowboy. One more in the nest. Then I'm gonna be a cowboy myself!
Thanks for sharing my man!
Great wisdom. Thanks for sharing.
Get some RHINO liner for the top of your buses roof then paint it silver to reflect the heat stay cool.
Very nice video. Have seen many videos of being a nomad but this is one of the best yet. Thankyou.
Be safe!
Great story Cowboy, are you running around in Mt?
Not much these days, but maybe soon. You never know
You are on the range cowboy and spending every night under the stars. It's a great thing for the spirit. I was wandering for five years with an RV and think it was the best years. Got tied up with bricks and mortar again, sold and am rving again. Will be on the look out for that Ford with the horns this winter in AZ. Subscribed and enjoying your story. Happy trails!
Just love your story cowboy I’m 65 and I envy you I’m gonna be there Someday I’m chasing my dream you keep up the good work I subscribe to your channel and I’m gonna follow you may God bless you and keep the videos coming thank you till I see you again cowboy
You know that moment when you have some faith being put back into how you feel about a lot of Americans, thanks fella, you're a good man , take care 🤙🦘
1:22 Stephen King wote the same book 64 times and just changed character names and locations while living in a city.
Hell yeah cowboy lifes about adventure and love and of course Nomad life!
Roll on Nomad , Spread your love......
Just a great video overall . Some sadness, lots of happiness . Go Cowboy , Go ! YEEHAAA !
Awesome, you are an inspiration for my future life that I'm still preparing for.
God bless you on your Journey of love & freedom! Much love and success moving forward.🙏❤️⛽️
Thanks cowboy life is short it's time to get out there and live your life anyway you can
Good on Ya Brother. Thank you for your service also.
Won’t be but a few more years, and I’ll be retiring, “hopefully“ and that’s what I’ll be doing is just what you’re doing. Maybe I’ll see you out there somewhere. I’d like to sit and have a cup of coffee with you and swap some cowboy stories with you. I grew up working cattle myself
thank you for sharing your story , insights and wisdom. stay blessed brother and safe travels.
Tremendous job taking that barebones bus and turning into a home on wheels. 😁😎
Godspeed sir! Peace and blessings over you!
