John Hindhaugh talks a lot about respectful driving and the value of leaving racing room. That is one big example of what I love most about IMSA racing - the professionalism of the teams, and the value of competing within the agreed-upon rules of the sport rather than finding a way around the rules to gain an unfair advantage. (I wasn't sorry to see the Land Audi team missing from this year's Rolex 500.) I have never seen an IMSA driver throw their helmet at a passing car or get in a fist-fight, or heard them whine, blame others, or mock the competition during an interview. This is racing, and only racing. It seems to bring out the best competitiveness with integrity in the drivers and teams. I think Hindy likes it that way, and I think he pushes IMSA in that direction with his commentary, and for that, my hat's off. Many thanks to John Hindhaugh (and the Responsible Adult). IMSA sports car racing is everything I love about auto racing, with none of the stuff that makes me sick of F1 and NASCAR. (Edit) Sure, as soon as I write that, I go back to the race to see Richard Heistand acting exactly the way I just said IMSA drivers don't, and the video (provided by NASCAR?) focusing on him and his juvenile antics. *Sigh* I get it. You're upset. But mistakes happen! Suck it up and pretend you're a grown-up. Move on! Drama queens don't belong in professional races. And IMSA TV/NASCAR/whoever thinks it's worth our time to focus the video feed on that crap, knock it off! Leave the Jerry Springer moments to daytime TV - or NASCAR.
This was my first ever I've been able to attend in person, amazing experience! Nice to be able to skim and catch things I missed through this that I didn't see while there due to moving around a lot...lol.
I was at the race this year, and it was a fabulous time! Made feel somewhat normal with the autograph lines. I got a lot signed and made it that more special. Road America is a special place. Hoping one day there is more of an enduro race here for IMSA top class.
I used to race at AMP in Shubenacadie N.S. ,Canada. I was driving à car that i prepared for racing by myself, in the Improve Touting, ( IT) And believe me, when those very fast GT were coming at you to take a lap on you , they were coming in group most of the time, and very fast, quite interesting indeed 😅
And of course it rained right after the checkered flag... On the bright side, despite the crappy weather all weekend I've seemingly converted someone to the wonderful Road America fan club! Next year will hopefully be even better with the Pilot Challenge going to a 4-Hour race.
IMSA sucks. They always full course yellows at the drop of a hat. They don't even give people time to recover. So they waste like 20 minutes for NOTHING!
Thank you IMSA for sharig it! I can't remember an IMSa race boring or ugly to watch, you are the best! So happy for WeatherTech Porsche, finally a victory after a year of bad luck
For me it's boring, because there's no point to watch the first hours of racing. Gaining gaps it's a part of motorsport, artificial bunching the pack damages the interest for the start of the race, rather only watch the final hour, like oval racing.
Seems like if you get an outside line on the kink then it's easy to end up in the wall if you're not mindful about it. That Audi and everyone else going by after the spin got really lucky there at 58:53. I wouldn't really put the blame on Kevin Magnussen in the Cadillac DPI making the move there.
Meh, the second move where the 5 went off was perfectly fine. The one with the Audi was definitely questionable. Can’t be sticking your nose in on a GT car through there that late, they just don’t have the aero to hang on off-apex
@@cobrafan427 Honestly, if he didn't drive up to Kevin during the FCY and give him the glares and what not Kevin could've been punished for that pass by race control. But because he did that, that may hinder the chances of Kevin receiving a penalty for that pass.
Thanks IMSA, great video. Two questions please: 1.) Why separate the prototype & salons for the start? Why can't they start together? 2.) 2.5 hours doesn't qualify as any version of an endurance race. Minimum length should be 4 hours. Why such a short race? Thanks.
@@augustortiz I don’t know. My guess is that they really weren’t much in the championship is my first guess. My second guess is that they realized how hard the C8.r’s were to beat and how fast they are.
I remember at last year's season-ending Sebring 12-hour, Wayne Taylor was walking up and down the paddock talking to Cadillac guys, presumably trying to get other teams to let his car by to beat the Penske Acura for the championship, but it didn't happen. Now, the MSR car pulls out of the way to let the WTR Acura through, with significantly lower stakes. I don't think it was a coincidence that Wayne Taylor chose this offseason to switch manufacturers.

I have unlimited data, but guess what it is really not unlimited, at Metro PCS when you go over 35gb the data speed is throttled back, I wish that we are given the option to pay for extra data.
What a shame for the MS-Acura. They were in a really good position in terms of fuel, but then decided to pit early for track position and miscalculated it really badly.
So they go into serious investigation when the front runner crosses over the line too early at the start but don't care one bit about the cars getting forced off track? Madness
Now if only their series on iracing was this competitive lol. It's amazing what moves people are willing to make when repair money and concern for personal safety are just out the window.
