This mode has the potential to be great but since it's free to play, it's vital that they have the hacker situation under control. If this mode gets littered with hackers the same way Warzone is, it's going to kill it no matter how good the mode is. When you have something on the line and actual gear to lose with each extraction, getting killed by someone with walls/aimbot will be devastating to the long term life of the game.

It is starting to look like DMZ is going to be a lot more similar to The Cycle rather than Tarkov. Which is a good thing, since The Cycle is not overly complicated and still very rewarding with its questlines from all the factions. Hopefully there's also a stash system where you have to upgrade certain parts of your Hideout or base of operations and increase the number of stash slots for example.
yep, I'm a Tarkov vet and the game is just way too overcomplicated, even for a hardcore game. Like Ace is saying though, I do hope they have at least some kind of persistent inventory, and maybe a leveling system where the more you progress quests, you can access better gear. it will be pretty lame if there is no inventory at all and you just go in with your warzone loadout to do random quests because at that point it's basically just warzone.

I don't think Tarkov would be Tarkov without how complex it is, but it definitely makes sense for a game like CoD not to make their version as complex.

I am not sure if they want to keep it super shallow because players not interested in a bit of depth and crafting could just play MP or BR.
God I'd hope its going to be more like Hunt, but it doesn't look like it will and I'll take it either way. The Cycle with a revive mechanic sounds great. I do hope they learn from Hunt in terms of world interactions and PvE sound queues, etc. Most of all I hope they develop something that stands out from the other three games.
This is great as free to play game mode mean more player base! With multiplayer and Warzone predictably taking a big chunk of player base out this will definitely help! Everything else sounds great

As someone who has been a CoD fan for over a decade but recently got into Tarkov, I’m very excited to see what CoD’s take on the genre will look like. The more I hear, the more I think it’ll be a solid game.

I'm already super into Tarkov but I'm still looking forward to it. No way they match the map quality, they have nearly matched the weapon quality, and nearly matched the animation quality. They are miles ahead in all other aspects IMO than BSG. They'll never get the gunfights to be like tarkov though cuz of console. I want to know what the "grind" or hook is gonna be to keep people wanting to play this mode. its not like warzone where you are playing for the win. theres gotta be some sort of reward system for DMZ for people to care enough to play over and over. I really hope its blueprints and other items you can only get through DMZ and good ones, unique. very interested in this mode though, if done right it could really take off like warzone.

We absolutely need flea market type of system in DMZ. Finding super rare items and selling them for a high price in Tarkov feels super nice and it also helps the player who buys the item.

The high risk adrenaline rush and the hardcore bone chilling experience of tarkov is its main appeal. Dumbing down the extraction mechanics of these games for a casual audience would take the fun out of DMZ.
I would say hunt Showdown is going to be the closest experience to DMZ. My estimate would be like this. You can use your operator/skin of choice same as in hunt, you will get money, gear and maybe even rarely cod points/BP for some weapon from the map, and the money is used to buy stuff like weapons, attachments to weapons, tacticals, and maybe even stuff like dead silence Trophy systems, and perhaps perks even, and the cycle continues. I was a huge fan of Hunt so assuming if DMZ is anything like it, I will be happy... BUT activision and IW need to get their anticheat up and fucking running, Games like Hunt/Tarkov/The cycle are full of fucking cheaters, and if lets say you manage to find some free cod points or a rare weapon BP like you could in warzone as a rare drop from the mode, only to lose them because some loser cant play, that would fucking suck.
The current Wipe of the Cycle has been much better though in terms of Anti-cheat since they actually implemented alot of counter-measures for cheating. One of them being trusted queues
I could see myself getting super in deep with this mode but only if they make it like you said make it feel like I'm accomplishing something. Im building something up to move towards something bigger down the road. Now if it's just oh extract yay good job try again? No I won't be wasting my time. But again if they make it feel I'm working towards something everytime I go through I want that sense of working for something bigger better stronger
These poor souls, they have no idea what it's like to get loaded up on loot, complete multiple quests while also holding multiple quest items, and then get head eyes'd by a hacker flying around the map right before you make it to extract. That's something no mortal should ever experience, ever.

Rumor has it there will be a game mode that allows you to go head to head against a team of Activision sponsored cheaters. If you win Activision will allow you to use the same cheat software as the "pros" for 1 day.
Unironically, SBMM is Activisions cheat/hack. It rigs your gameplay to favour Activisions bottom line - their ‘Victory’. Anyone mitigating against Activisions built-in cheat is alright by me.
Why is it called DMZ? Doesn’t DMZ stand for “De-Militarized Zone”? This game mode sounds more like an ‘MZ’ than a ‘DMZ’… again, I would really like a Call of Duty game to be released instead of all these piggy-back garbage games. Just my opinion. #MakeCoDGreatAgain
I hope it’s like you keep all cash and weapons you extract with. And then you spend the cash on weapons, attachments, perks, lethals, tactical, and field upgrades. Maybe even kill streaks. They could (and hopefully do a good job) at balancing everything with level progression and the cash system. Want to come in with an AR and Sniper? You have to buy overkill. Want to come in with a UAV? Gotta pay for it. Getting player tags could grant a ton of cash per tag on extraction but player eliminations would also grant cash and exp. This mode has a lot of potential and I hope they find some sort of balance between simple enough to pick up but also complex enough to make the player feel engaged and immersed.
A mastery camo is always a nice endgoal for me at least. Also here are many possibilities for unice camo challenges that could actualy be fun for once.
Im DYING to get into all this new stuff. It's about to be so good, we are in for a good one in the new MW2. The beta was so damn good, and with all these other modes playing off that goodness, the possibilities!
I agree, the long term economy of this game type is really going to let it sink or swim. I'm SO EXCITED for it... but they need to keep people invested. So the ability to get exclusive cosmetic items like gun skins, operator skins, charms, calling cards etc... or a really interesting mission/quest/dailies system that takes work and time to rank up... something to keep the interest for lots of players for a long time. Another make or break for me is the inventory system. I agree it can't be EFT level detailed, but it can't be so simply that you feel like you're playing a dumbed down version of Warzone. There needs to be variety and agency with the inventory system both in and our of a DMZ match. I hope they do it right, because if they do, mixed with the fact that it's FTP, means it could be huge. I hope its not just another game mode in warzone 2 like Plunder in warzone 1 . I want it to be something separate to warzone , I want it to be its own thing .
I'd just be hoping that it has decent battlepass progression. Because if it's fun enough and what I hear of the main game isn't to my liking enough to buy for multiplayer, I'd like to not having painful grind out a battlepass like it is or was with Warzone. I did some grinding just before I got cold war a little into season three and it took like two hours of play for one or -maybe- two ranks. And for warzone that's a SLOG.
quick question and I know this is gonna sound stupid but is DMZ gonna be a single player experience? Or is it a mode where it's basically BR but with objectives and you need to look out for other players on top of "grunts"
I'd like to see a barracks style building you can go to view other people's profiles. People can customize it with their stickers, spray paints, gun skins, etc. Loot could also be in there to help customize. This could be expanded so that 6v6 lobbies are in a barracks with each character's own "room"
Their biggest hurdle for this game mode is making the loot feel special, because why would I care about a tricked out M4 I found in this game mode when I already have one just like it in my multiplayer loadout that I've used for several matches already.
I really hope cheaters dont ruin this game mode too. I'm excited to try it out. Free worries me though, I was hoping it would be like 40 bucks or something
It’d be awesome if DMZ had tie-ins to Warzone and other modes. Like some sort of benefit for playing this mode specifically. Maybe it’ll grant you access to DMZ specific blueprints that could be then used in other game modes or something. If it’s completely stand alone, I can’t see people jumping on very often. It’d feel more like spec-ops.

cheaters are going to run COD into the ground. PC has ruined everything. I played the PS5 only beta, it was BEAUTIFUL. quick full lobbies, fun teammates and really balanced games. As SOON as pc players enter, the game was flooded with cheaters and super sweats with third party hardware. Instantly, less fun and unenjoyable.
What is the long time playability of the old PvP shooters or maybe Apex? It's not the grind and earning ingame credits, unlock cosmetics... it's because the GAMEPLAY is FUN. Instead of designing a game around selling cosmetics and unlock credits, they should focus on a fun gameplay and all the rewards are secondary and nice to have. (gameplay in the beta - besides the usual CoD problems -was very good, nice feel nice sounds and animations)
Progression is the make or break. When I extract, why am I happy? Am I happy only because I lived? That thrill only lasts a few runs. I need to be progressing something if I'm putting it all on the line. If the only reward is keeping what a brought plus making a few bucks, I could have just never went in the first place and be in the same position. Time will tell. They really seem to be embracing the 2 year cycle here and want to give us every version of an FPS we could ask for in a CoD package. I hope for the best.
Not gunna lie. I’ve been playing tarkov every wipe since 2018, till atleast max traders, and CoD legit looked at Tarkovs quests and said copy/paste, by the sound of it.
I really don't think we should get our hopes up. If it's good that's great but I can't see them putting THAT much effort into it when they have MP, WARZONE and Spec Ops

My biggest questions would be : what kind of smdb will be in place ? How does the minimap would work ? Same as multiplayer ? If diffrent how ? Or none ? But to be honest, i'm not so enthousiastic for this call of duty...
If they really are making it free to play. All the hackers/cheaters will be playing this. And the normal players will be losing all their stuff. So this mode is going to die faster. If it was a part of the multiplayer, so you had to buy the game, a lot less hackers/cheaters will be playing this. And it will be a lot more likely to succeed! I am looking forward to DMZ, but it f it is really gonna be free to play... I don't think I will be playing this mode a long time. Because loosing your gear to hackers/cheaters will take the fun out off playing this....
I am excited, naturally, but let's be honest, a big part of Tarkov is it's RPGness. Not sure if I'll enjoy a significantly simplified experience in that case.
This could be a flip or even a flop. However they didn't learn anything from beta. Make it a purchase only access. Cheaters will be less likely to cheat if you make it 60$ every time to create am account and play the game. They are really starting to disappoint the community. Console cheats are limited, but pc cheats are currently ever expanding especially recently Overwatch2 released and not even 24hrs there are cheaters.
Never played Tarkov so I'm really just waiting to see how it plays for myself, y'all go watch my first few RUclips videos I'm going to be uploading a lot more and streaming soon
This is gonna be very hard for normal and sweaty warzone player since they will be playing in a much different environment they are used to. If you lose everything you bring in and anything you find, gear fear is gonna hit them harder than warzone 1 hackers. Along with their sweat badge being tossed to join the order of the rats. Or double down and become the DMZ version of a tarkov chad.

Free to play will kill it, tarkov has a 60 dollar entry barrier and hackers are RIFE ATM, i know hackers will never be eliminated but require a phone number or some shit on your account that u CSNT use on another one idk
I'm not going to invest time in this mode I'm not going to go in with my own gear only to lose it to Cronus zen users and hackers until Activision can figure out how to ban these apps and hardware I'm not bothering with it because seriously nobody's talking about the large amount of gamers using these damn cronuses!! Even streamer buffing.. nope. not excited untill they have a real anti cheat.
Now where I know the missions, I don't know how to feel about that mode. It sounds like that most of the stuff can be completed without interacting with other real teams. I'm not sure if it will be fun to kill tons of bots instead of real players. But who knows, at least for casuals this mode will be great.

DMZ sounds alright imo. probably will at least be better than hazard zone and not overly complext like escape from tarkov. haven't played that though as i dont have a pc and not sure if that is my genre. dmz sounds fine and i can play it a bit but i'll probably mainly stick to multiplayer.
since they are removing loadouts from wz, i think it would be cool if you could pick guns from you DMZ inventory and have them drop during a warzone game.
Hmmm 'Empty a certain amount of gas tanks' doesn't give me 'drive around aimlessly' vibes, but rather that you can find canisters or something similar to steal gas from vehicles to keep/use on other vehicles, and maybe even use it as a molotov, or to lay traps by putting the canister down and shooting it so it explodes.
I really hope that player movement is slowed for this mode. The fast paced cod movement won’t work well with a game-mode that asks for strategic thinking. I also hope that the TTK is changed and solo and team queueing end up in the same game like Tarkov.
I worry they are just stockpiling all their resources into warzone and going to let multiplayer just die in the background. Even though that is the paid for product, not warzone
This sounds like it would be a good time. But, there will always be those that just want to play the objectives, and then those that just want to grief and grief and grief some more. These griefers are usually the type of players that can't make it in real pvp, so they'll spend their time harassing others.
For me to play over a longer period of time there needs to be a ranked mode for warzone and DMZ needs a marketplace Marketplace needs cosmetics aswell as I think playing dmz and buying more gear just to play dmz is abit dumb
I'm really hoping they offer console only mode and not strictly cross play.. in free to play games computer cheats are just to prevalent and all it takes is one to ruin it. With that said it be nice if ya could convert in-game cash into cod points to get skins or carry over ect.
Besides extracting gas there’s honestly nothing unique about this mode- not saying that’s bad, Tarkov is great and this is free, but let’s not say this is anything new
My mates are casual and not very good at pvp in warzone, I feel like this could be a better way for us to spend our one evening a week that we play together rather than going into the battle royale sweat fest. But only time will tell.

I literally don't care about it, or Warzone 2, or Warzone 1. I care about classic CoD. Das it.
Its the same thing as tarkov. Go in to trash other players to steal their stuff. Its extremely satisfying

Why is it called DMZ? Doesn’t DMZ stand for “De-Militarized Zone”? This game mode sounds more like an ‘MZ’ than a ‘DMZ’… again, I would really like a Call of Duty game to be released instead of all these piggy-back garbage games. Just my opinion. #MakeCoDGreatAgain

I hope it’s like you keep all cash and weapons you extract with. And then you spend the cash on weapons, attachments, perks, lethals, tactical, and field upgrades. Maybe even kill streaks. They could (and hopefully do a good job) at balancing everything with level progression and the cash system. Want to come in with an AR and Sniper? You have to buy overkill. Want to come in with a UAV? Gotta pay for it. Getting player tags could grant a ton of cash per tag on extraction but player eliminations would also grant cash and exp. This mode has a lot of potential and I hope they find some sort of balance between simple enough to pick up but also complex enough to make the player feel engaged and immersed.
A mastery camo is always a nice endgoal for me at least. Also here are many possibilities for unice camo challenges that could actualy be fun for once.
Im DYING to get into all this new stuff. It's about to be so good, we are in for a good one in the new MW2. The beta was so damn good, and with all these other modes playing off that goodness, the possibilities!

I agree, the long term economy of this game type is really going to let it sink or swim. I'm SO EXCITED for it... but they need to keep people invested. So the ability to get exclusive cosmetic items like gun skins, operator skins, charms, calling cards etc... or a really interesting mission/quest/dailies system that takes work and time to rank up... something to keep the interest for lots of players for a long time. Another make or break for me is the inventory system. I agree it can't be EFT level detailed, but it can't be so simply that you feel like you're playing a dumbed down version of Warzone. There needs to be variety and agency with the inventory system both in and our of a DMZ match. I hope they do it right, because if they do, mixed with the fact that it's FTP, means it could be huge. That's what I'm hoping for. Thanks for the leak commentary.

I'd just be hoping that it has decent battlepass progression. Because if it's fun enough and what I hear of the main game isn't to my liking enough to buy for multiplayer, I'd like to not having painful grind out a battlepass like it is or was with Warzone. I did some grinding just before I got cold war a little into season three and it took like two hours of play for one or -maybe- two ranks. And for warzone that's a SLOG.

quick question and I know this is gonna sound stupid but is DMZ gonna be a single player experience? Or is it a mode where it's basically BR but with objectives and you need to look out for other players on top of "grunts"
If you played or seen Escape from Tarkov gameplay, it will be almost like that. But instead of a hard-core experience, it will be a bit more easy.
PvPvE is what they call it. There will be both players and AI in the game. No single player

I'd like to see a barracks style building you can go to view other people's profiles. People can customize it with their stickers, spray paints, gun skins, etc. Loot could also be in there to help customize.
This could be expanded so that 6v6 lobbies are in a barracks with each character's own "room"
Their biggest hurdle for this game mode is making the loot feel special, because why would I care about a tricked out M4 I found in this game mode when I already have one just like it in my multiplayer loadout that I've used for several matches already.

It’d be awesome if DMZ had tie-ins to Warzone and other modes. Like some sort of benefit for playing this mode specifically. Maybe it’ll grant you access to DMZ specific blueprints that could be then used in other game modes or something. If it’s completely stand alone, I can’t see people jumping on very often. It’d feel more like spec-ops.
I like the idea behind. Let's wait and see how it works. Too bad IW has great ideas for this mode and save dummy decisions for 6v6 mods.

we striched from Warzone to Escape from Tarkov and this new mode is music to my ears. There is a huge market gap for game modes like this.

love how your like "this game is kind of like tarkov or hut showdown" when this is legit just a copy of tarkov with COD mechanics, I think it will be fun but its not just "kind of like" it literally is trying to be tarkov, just look at the cover for the gamemode
cheaters are going to run COD into the ground. PC has ruined everything. I played the PS5 only beta, it was BEAUTIFUL. quick full lobbies, fun teammates and really balanced games. As SOON as pc players enter, the game was flooded with cheaters and super sweats with third party hardware. Instantly, less fun and unenjoyable.
DMZ sounds like a casual tarkov. Idk why people are saying the cycle or all these other games. It’s just Tarkov but casual
What is the long time playability of the old PvP shooters or maybe Apex? It's not the grind and earning ingame credits, unlock cosmetics... it's because the GAMEPLAY is FUN. Instead of designing a game around selling cosmetics and unlock credits, they should focus on a fun gameplay and all the rewards are secondary and nice to have. (gameplay in the beta - besides the usual CoD problems -was very good, nice feel nice sounds and animations)
Progression is the make or break. When I extract, why am I happy? Am I happy only because I lived? That thrill only lasts a few runs. I need to be progressing something if I'm putting it all on the line. If the only reward is keeping what a brought plus making a few bucks, I could have just never went in the first place and be in the same position. Time will tell. They really seem to be embracing the 2 year cycle here and want to give us every version of an FPS we could ask for in a CoD package. I hope for the best.

Not gunna lie. I’ve been playing tarkov every wipe since 2018, till atleast max traders, and CoD legit looked at Tarkovs quests and said copy/paste, by the sound of it.
I really don't think we should get our hopes up. If it's good that's great but I can't see them putting THAT much effort into it when they have MP, WARZONE and Spec Ops
Don't care for DMZ if that mode is gonna take away from the MP experience...... and based on the direction cod has been in the last few years it just might
My biggest questions would be : what kind of smdb will be in place ? How does the minimap would work ? Same as multiplayer ? If diffrent how ? Or none ?
But to be honest, i'm not so enthousiastic for this call of duty...
If they really are making it free to play. All the hackers/cheaters will be playing this. And the normal players will be losing all their stuff. So this mode is going to die faster.
If it was a part of the multiplayer, so you had to buy the game, a lot less hackers/cheaters will be playing this. And it will be a lot more likely to succeed!
I am looking forward to DMZ, but it f it is really gonna be free to play... I don't think I will be playing this mode a long time. Because loosing your gear to hackers/cheaters will take the fun out off playing this....

Not sure if I'll enjoy a significantly simplified experience in that case.
This could be a flip or even a flop. However they didn't learn anything from beta. Make it a purchase only access. Cheaters will be less likely to cheat if you make it 60$ every time to create am account and play the game. They are really starting to disappoint the community. Console cheats are limited, but pc cheats are currently ever expanding especially recently Overwatch2 released and not even 24hrs there are cheaters.
Never played Tarkov so I'm really just waiting to see how it plays for myself, y'all go watch my first few RUclips videos I'm going to be uploading a lot more and streaming soon
This is gonna be very hard for normal and sweaty warzone player since they will be playing in a much different environment they are used to. If you lose everything you bring in and anything you find, gear fear is gonna hit them harder than warzone 1 hackers. Along with their sweat badge being tossed to join the order of the rats. Or double down and become the DMZ version of a tarkov chad.

Hey man, I don't think "casual" is the right word for describing the difference between EFT and CoD. It is more like the difference between "hard to learn and hard to master" and "easy to learn and hard to master"
Free to play will kill it, tarkov has a 60 dollar entry barrier and hackers are RIFE ATM, i know hackers will never be eliminated but require a phone number or some shit on your account that u CSNT use on another one idk
I'm not going to invest time in this mode I'm not going to go in with my own gear only to lose it to Cronus zen users and hackers until Activision can figure out how to ban these apps and hardware I'm not bothering with it because seriously nobody's talking about the large amount of gamers using these damn cronuses!! Even streamer buffing.. nope. not excited untill they have a real anti cheat.
Now where I know the missions, I don't know how to feel about that mode. It sounds like that most of the stuff can be completed without interacting with other real teams. I'm not sure if it will be fun to kill tons of bots instead of real players. But who knows, at least for casuals this mode will be great.

DMZ sounds alright imo. probably will at least be better than hazard zone and not overly complext like escape from tarkov. haven't played that though as i dont have a pc and not sure if that is my genre. dmz sounds fine and i can play it a bit but i'll probably mainly stick to multiplayer.
since they are removing loadouts from wz, i think it would be cool if you could pick guns from you DMZ inventory and have them drop during a warzone game.
Hmmm 'Empty a certain amount of gas tanks' doesn't give me 'drive around aimlessly' vibes, but rather that you can find canisters or something similar to steal gas from vehicles to keep/use on other vehicles, and maybe even use it as a molotov, or to lay traps by putting the canister down and shooting it so it explodes.
I really hope that player movement is slowed for this mode. The fast paced cod movement won’t work well with a game-mode that asks for strategic thinking. I also hope that the TTK is changed and solo and team queueing end up in the same game like Tarkov.
This is the exact game mode that BF2042 tried to hype up. CoD is literally trying to become a "one size fits all" FPS.
I worry they are just stockpiling all their resources into warzone and going to let multiplayer just die in the background. Even though that is the paid for product, not warzone
This sounds like it would be a good time. But, there will always be those that just want to play the objectives, and then those that just want to grief and grief and grief some more. These griefers are usually the type of players that can't make it in real pvp, so they'll spend their time harassing others.
For me to play over a longer period of time there needs to be a ranked mode for warzone and DMZ needs a marketplace
Marketplace needs cosmetics aswell as I think playing dmz and buying more gear just to play dmz is abit dumb

I don't personally think these objectives sound interesting. This sounds like choosing different ways to do the same collection mission.
I'm really hoping they offer console only mode and not strictly cross play.. in free to play games computer cheats are just to prevalent and all it takes is one to ruin it. With that said it be nice if ya could convert in-game cash into cod points to get skins or carry over ect.

Besides extracting gas there’s honestly nothing unique about this mode- not saying that’s bad, Tarkov is great and this is free, but let’s not say this is anything new

My mates are casual and not very good at pvp in warzone, I feel like this could be a better way for us to spend our one evening a week that we play together rather than going into the battle royale sweat fest.
