Daniel Godsil - Dash 9 (2017) for solo percussion and electronics

Dash 9 for multiple percussion solo and electronics is based on field recordings I made of an idling diesel railroad locomotive. I was fascinated by the strange sounds emerging from the vehicle: there seemed to be some kind of mechanical ritual taking place. The work's percussion part is a series of rhythmic processes or "rituals", which react to and are reacted to by the four-channel audio part, which itself is built from my field recordings.
