I may or may have not cried again when thinking about Cloud and his arc. Don't know about you but the thing I'm excited the most about FFVII Rebirth, has to do %90 for the character-focused stories and not the main twists, so I'll probably be gushing about it for the next months ♥ If you have some moments let me know too! Thanks for watching!
I never finished the original game. I got burnt out and took an indefinite break. However, leaving Midgar, and then the Barret/Dyne stuff was when I knew the game really was special.
It definetely is going to, those are the moments that are going to remind us how character-focused stories have the more impact. I can see that and Seto's part to make people feelsy the most
@@The-Azure-KnightThat is 100% not happening. I'd bet money on it. They are not going to do that, you need to stop listening to angry people online making stuff up.
One thing I want to see specifically is that when Cait Sith sacrifices himself, the next one doesn't show up until he breaks Barret and Tifa out of Shinra's attempted execution of them. That moment could make for a more fun surprise.
You are mentioning a great example and moment. I want to talk a lot about the Junon escape but as that should be part 3 I didn't. Basically I can imagine the whole party making a plan to infiltrate and save them (cait and Yuffie as reporters, cid getting the Highwind crew to be on their side, etc). It should be really cool for every character
The story line with Nanaki and his father is one thing I'm looking forward to the most. It gets me emotional everytime I think about the reveal that his father was actually a hero
Totally, I don't have story predictions, but I predict that this moment will make us cry lmao. I think the use of music and sounds of howling at the moon/stone are and can be so well done for that moment ♥
Point about Sephiroths creepy smile when Nibelheim is burning: its not about him enjoying death around him, I feel like it is absolute joy at finally figuring out who and what he is (or at least what he thinks he is) and is on his way to meet his mother at last.
No, you are right, that was completely fine and cool (when he rip off that robot thingy specially). I mean more in how his model is shown nowadays, in the remake for example there's not a single scene he is not creepy like this 😈 lmao (or other spin offs etc)
This is why i love FF7. Even if the characters and the world are a bit silly, the story is that good which makes it believable. Good video, i'm looking forward to these moments as well.
hey, silly is good! Jumping on a dolphin and ending up on a military parade messing up the formation is memorable, after all. But as long as it gets really serious and meaningful when it's about characters' moments/relationships/feelings, that's when it hits the hardest you know? 😌
It's very sweet how he's very genuine about his feelings and shows that young innocence once you learn he is basically a "teen"; and the family moment can hit hard
omg thank you so much! I'm very self conscious about my non-English ass speaking so I try for it to at least match with what's shown so it doesn't feel that I'm just speaking nonsense all the time lmao 🙇♂️
with the Cait reveal, I'd love for Reeve himself to be more of a focus. like during the confrontation, we actually SEE Reeve talking directly to the party via Cait. also would like some slight but noticeable differences between when Cait is running on autopilot, and when Reeve is directly controlling him, nothing noteworthy in the first playthrough, but there for repeat players nonetheless - and the hardcore fans. also during the sacrifice, we briefly show Reeve slumped in his office over his control rig, before we see him pull himself together and activate a new Cait. which takes at least a full chapter of events to catch up to the party so the sacrifice doesn't feel cheap, while still providing the fake out that he served in the original.
I love that idea too, with remake being more obvious about Reeve involvement, it would be nice to have more POV from him during these parts, whether they want to keep the reveal that it's him or not, I wonder about that. I can see the return of Cait 2 to happen a little bit later as others mentioned too, make it a surprise and with some room to make you feel a little bit sad 😅. I'm genuinely pretty curious about it
@@DroWarriorOfLight there are ways to have Reeve the individual be more present while still having him be anonymous. like the confrontation scene, we see reeve talking to the party via Cait, but we only see the bottom part of his face. and when he's mourning Cait 1, it's entirely from the back... etc. just if new players are going to accept Reeve Tuisti, Director of Shinra Urban Affairs as a full and complete member of the party, they need to spend some time with him, not just his little robot pal. we saw that in Remake with the Cait cameo, new players didn't know what to make of it.
Thank you!! Yup, we agree on that, so I wanted to at least give some small spotlight from my place to those moments, and remind us how exciting it can be to see them again ♥
Does "Tifa's early years in Midgar" count as new? We knew that was what happened, but didn't see it... If that's not new, then I would love to see some of that
You brought up an amazing point! While I didn't go too much off the original game itself on this recollection, the novel that tells Tifa's early years in Midgar (which is really cool) technically happens because Tifa tells the others (or Aerith alone) about those days as they are walking or at the Cargo ship, so maybe we'll see some of that as bonus! that'd be cute
Completely reasonable. I think objectively that could be one of the top moments that could hit the most to everyone, imagining how focus and attention it could have with modern technology and expressions etc ❤
@@DroWarriorOfLight exactly...I think I first played this game when I was 11 and I remember it being the first moment I felt emotion playing a game , I was too young to understand the dyne and Barrett scene at the time and it's implications, but setos status as coward and villain in nanakis eyes and the subsequent reveal still makes me emotional even now just shy of 40 and now being a father as well and that drive you have to always protect you're family ... I feel like it will only hit harder....goddamn I need to replay the original before seeing this in rebirth 😂
That's a very good point about Cait 1, I wonder how hard are they going to go with it to make it emotional. I'm assuming there will be better timing and less of an emotional whiplash of many things happening at the same time to get overwhelmed by it. That'd be cool! I'm looking forward to it
I'd like for us to actually LOSE him for a significant period. A reunion (heh) a bit later down the road would feel much more impactful than the instantly-back Cait 2 we get in OG. Maybe the time while Cloud is down we play as the rest of the cast minus Tifa and run into him again outside Gongaga or something.
@@patrickjawisdom4141 Yeah! Maybe to change the timing there be more space in between the sacrifice and the return, to begin with. It's a good point that different to the original one, this game could have way more POV moments, not just Cloud's (like chapter 13 of remake but expanded)
😅 to be fair the angles are different, and it's mostly the inside of that house where everyone talks, the outside can be different but yeah! Would love to recognize small details
@@DroWarriorOfLight omg with the amount of times I’ve played OG ffvii I am so embarrassed I never realized this lol thank you for pointing this out to us less observant folk 😂 great video btw your list is literally everything I’m waiting for!
I really think characters and arcs make the game stand out. I love every FF for different reasons, but the attachment I feel to 7 hits different somehow. (I still find myself enjoying hours of reading the wiki of FFX lmao, I love the setting there.)
#1 hyped moment for me in rebirth is the Seto Storyline FF7 1997 Spoiler alert: I also think the story from cid and shera will be great to see/ where he cancels the launch to save her, despises her for the next years of his life. just to find out in disk two she was working on the capsule that wouldve essentially ended his life
Totally. I couldn't include Cid moments in this video because in my head that's a big part of the third game, but I love to see that too, with the gratifying culmination in the future/last game. I always remember how after going to space HE was the one motivating everyone else to keep fighting, not Main character Cloud or Planet Figther Barret 😅 pretty cool
My favorite moment definitely won't hold the same weight in rebirth as it did in the original. Getting my ass handed to me by the Midgar Zorm, and catching a chocobo to get past it, just to see Sephiroth had impaled one on a tree. CHILLS! But now that we've seen Sephiroth in Remake, doing all that he did, the shock value of an impaled Midgar Zorm is gone.
You are so right, that was a big thing to show his power along the Nibel Flashback and how he destroyed everything without us controlling anything, so it's good of you to mention it. ALTHOUGH! I still have hopes that, while the Midgarsorm can be a cool fight, maybe the ending of it it's more of us escaping than killing it, and *then* we see one completely destroyed. I hope we got at least a feeling similar to the one you mention, even if the impact is not there anymore (also, the "did sephiroth do this?" is too iconic to not include it)
@@DroWarriorOfLight I assumed it would be something like that as well. While I think the shock factor can no longer be recreated, I'm confident that they'll still do it some justice. I'm 100% convinced that the developers are committed to recreating everything we came to love in a great, innovative way. Just like they did with the hell house!
@@francoblu9498 That is a great example, I'm expecting for some monsters to have the "Hell House treatment" eventually too. I think when it's about those details and charming moments, they can do great things. Even if it's hard to replicate the same exact feelings, naturally
@patrickjawisdom4141 That would be a clever way to go about it. Nice idea! We'll see how they do it soon enough. February 29th will be here before you know it!
I can't wait for the writers to triple fake out death Dyne like they did with certain characters in the Remake. "He's dead... BUT GOTCHA! HE LIVES.... And he's dead again... But we GOTCHA again! What was twist he's alive but just barely!" Edit: They may not even have him "delete" himself. I bet he accidentally falls off the ledge or Barrett and Dyne re-enact their origins and Barrett can't hang on or something.. That is... If they even allow him to die.
Remake appears to have walked so Rebirth can run. I understand the concern, totally! I personally find Midgar to be my favorite part of the game so I loved it expanded in Remake, but this is not going to be like that. It will have a lot of filler, but a lot of optional filler that is recreated from the original game, not pulled out of thin air.
@@93BossRoss I can appreciate that. I just think back to some needless things. The airbuster pre-fight, the sun lamps, Roache.... be nice if this one is a much neater package
I don't really blame you, but my perspective is different that as I was never interested in Midgar, with how the game was going to focus only on that, then I expected things to expand. But the good stuff that is the rest of the world and moments like these, are going to cover way more stuff so there's not much need to make it "filler" and things like that. If anything you have to wonder how much they can fit (and things like Wutai or Fort Condor to be left aside for part 3)
