      Hello,
      Thanks for watching.
I don't see myself as an artist, just an enthusiast. But do not hesitate to do the same kind of staging on your channel.
      Regards.

Thank you for spoiling us with another piece of eye candy Mr Bob C
As always wonderfully detailed, amazing presentation
My grandparents (on dad’s side) in Germany had 19 siblings (Opa plus 10 and Oma plus 9) between them growing up in Nazi Germany in the 30s. Big families back then! They were the only survivors of WWII in their families following sustained allied aerial bombing raids on their home towns in the late 40s. So as a result I come from a small family 😉
Many cruel atrocities were committed by both sides hurting countless families around the world. Personally, I am glad that I live in a world today where the German nation is part of a network of likeminded peace seeking countries! Thank God my Vaterland did not become the ‘ruler of the world’ as intended by the Nazi regime that was the catalyst of and responsible for so much suffering everywhere.
I am a keen admirer of your artwork and love the historic background research you put into each piece. Thanks again for sharing 👍🏻

      Hello Flying Solo,
I Thank you for your kind and personal comment.
I am only a modest individual who seeks to connect my two passions which are contemporary history and model kits.
I also thank you for your qualifier of artwork, but I have no pretensions, except that of making myself happy, doing something good and sharing!.
The European community is imposed on the peoples of Europe to avoid again what our parents went through.
The story of that time is no longer really told, so if my pieces of plastic allow to remember those terrible moments, that satisfies me.
      Regards.

      Thanks for watching.
I have no merit; It is a decal offered in the box of the B17F Academy. But this kit is the Revell'one.

      Hello, Claire.
      Thank you for your comment.
I cut the plastic, then made the visible ribs. Then I covered the surface with a very thin paper glued with diluted white glue. I make the holes after painting. It's nice to pierce the paper!
      Regards.

@@bobc9389 Thank you. For a real B-17, it really didn't seem to have a lot of battle damage apart from a damaged tail and a dead engine. I have seen pictures of damage on other aircraft that flew back to base that was much worse. Wonder why they landed the aircraft as opposed to bailing out and letting it crash instead of handing over, more or less, an intact heavy bomber?

    • @bobc9389

@@BigLisaFan Well, I like to build models, and to document myself on the subject that I realize.
I will tell a short story: Miss Ouachita was isolated with Miss Minookee during a turn; the two bombers were in an external position during this maneuver.Major Heinrich Bär is quick to seize the opportunity. the B17 is severely affected: the top turret gunner is KIA, rear guns are out, the left outboard engine is on fire, the radio is out, the radioman is badly wounded, the rudder is badly damaged, and the oxygen circuit is dead. The pilot must therefore fly low so that his crew does not lose consciousness. It therefore begins a descent.
A second engine breaks down. The pilot orders the crew to bail out. Two men jump. However, the pilots manage to restart the damaged second engine, and the crew decide to return to England safely on the plane.
The lone bomber fly over Germany at tree level for over an hour, and unfortunately pass over a Luftwaffe airfield.
ME109 attack, a shell explodes in the cockpit, kills the co-pilot and injures the captain. There is only one valid waist gunner.
Weakened, with little alternative available, pilot 2nd Lt Spencer K. Osterberg, lands the plane face down on a pasture at Bexten, near Salzberg.
It was the first mission of the crew of 2nd Lt Osterberg on Miss Ouachita, and the 18th of this bomber at 91BG.
The USAF has two more KIAs and eight more POWs that days.
The Germans thought they would get Miss Ouachita back, however marauding Mustangs strafed the wreck, which ended up in aluminum ingots for the Nazi war industry.
By the way, Miss Minookee didnot return that day too...
Like you, I was a little surprised to see little damage in the photos. But if vital organs are affected, it doesn't matter what the holes are.
      Regards.

@@bobc9389 Thank you for a story that I did not know. Looks like he had not much of a choice left and being his first mission IT must have been very frightening.
