    I have another comment after watching part 2 on jills channel. One thing that might work is to take a page out of jewelry/makeup sellers books. Let friends host a plant sale at their house for their family and friends. You bring the plants and they bring the customers. The host can get some free plants. Makes for a fun experience and gets people more excited about gardening and helps get you connected to more customers.

    Hi guys just watched both of your videos, great advice from both of you. We are up north in Ontario and on our farm we do an annual event in the spring celebrating our first opening day and our dog Molly's birthday lol. This year we have decided to incorporate a spring plant sale into the event and have a few other local farms coming with some of their plant starts as well. Along with this we have a chainsaw carver and a ceramic worker coming to do an on site demo, big BBQ and live music from a local musician. 'We are trying to create a great community event here at the farm before the summer farmers market opens up. Just want to let you both know that you always give me the inspiration that I need to keep moving forward with things. Thanks and hope you all have a great season.

    Hi, guys love the video. I am starting seeds today. Hubby got my shelves and lights up yesterday. I am in Fla. Our growing season is from Feb 13 to Dec 27. So we have a 300-day growing season..The same thing happened to me 2 years ago. they all just wanted red tomatoes like the ones from the store. I was very surprised. I ended up with a yard full of tomato plants. Love the collabration.

    I am a first time gardener here, and I am learning so much from both of you two ladies(Jess too) as a consumer of plant starts having packs that grow will together or at the same time is a great idea. I love all the extra education from my small town nursery when I go in, so having someone who knows their plants and knows what work together is a bonus. Or just thinking outside the box, a "salsa pack " with peppers and tomatoes or other things like that. Thank you for all your sweet encouragement.

    • @BerkeleyFarms
      @BerkeleyFarms  2 года назад +1

      A salsa pack is a great idea! That’s another great thing about buying from local plant sales…the grower can really take some time to educate the buyer. Can’t get that at the big box stores.

      I was thinking of doing this, but got stumped with how to identify each plant. You'd have to make a marker for each cell in the pack instead of one for the whole pack? BUT that's a neat idea. I'm trying to work smarter, not harder, & writing labels is my least fav part. Maybe number the cells with a paint pen & hand out a printed list of what they are?

    How do you decide HOW MANY plants to start for a farmer's market? I want to try it out this year but have no clue how many to start

    • @BerkeleyFarms
      @BerkeleyFarms  2 года назад

      That’s a hard question to answer. My best answer would be to grow what you can feasibly afford to grow AND feel confident that you can care for. It’s easy to start 1000s of seeds but you have to consider if you have the time to care for that many and if you can afford to invest in the supplies it takes to care for them before selling them.
