    You could drop an item ontop of the Azalea somehow. With a Hopper Minecart underneath, you could detect the dummy item and only if there is no item falling through (because the Azalea blocks it) you bone meal the Azalea.
    Another option would be using the Snowgolem firing at any mob, like in the previous episode with the Shulker Shell farm. If Azalea is ontop of the Moss Block, it would block the snowball(s) for some time.

    If you place a block above the observer or the dispenser (diagonal above the sapling) the tree will never grow, but grass will.
    Setup:
    | | | Block | | Piston
    | Dispenser | Grass | Observer | |
    *If* BoneMealIsUsed *and* ObserverTriggered *then* it's a grass block
    *else if* BoneMealIsUsed *and not* ObserverTriggered *then* retract block with piston, because it's a sapling
    This does not work \/
    -You could try to detect the grass by using the dispenser once. The grass would turn into tall grass which can be read by an observer that is two blocks high. By using a second, 3 block high observer you can detect whether this was actually tall grass or a tree.-
    -Observer2 | Tree/Airblock-
    -Observer1 | TallGrass-
    -Dispenser | Grass-
    -If observer1Triggered and not observer2Triggered then the block is tall grass-
    -Else it's a tree-
    -You will have to combine this with is bone meal dispensed detection-

    You can reuse most of the Crimson Roots, if you place a hopper with a hopper-minecart on top, on the right side of the dispencer with the fence on top, to pick up roots which land there. After colleting them put them throw a composter and get the bonemeal to the top hopper-line again, to get it back into the system.

  • @malmiteria
    @malmiteria 3 года назад

    you could use the sand, combined with the wall technique, so you know when a sand block got down, and replaced the weed. Then you can trigger a piston to get it out of the way, and try bonemealing, since there's only the moss carpet and azalia tree left, and detect if it's sued or not like that.
    the pistons that push the sand out and the one that would push the tree out could be the same, gravity would allow to sort out sand from log, so you don't need too many piston around that single block
    And if you can't place pistons near the log, place sticky piston one block further, with a log attached in front of them, i think that should work perfectly

  • @joemeister007
    @joemeister007 3 года назад

    You could probably make a water-based design for a fully automatic oak log farm. From my testing (and as other people in the comments section have pointed out) grass, moss carpets, and azaleas all get broken by flowing water from the side, but azaleas do not get broken by flowing water from the top. I've messed around with a few designs, but I've never built a tree farm before so I always get stuck. Here's what I was thinking about in case if you or anyone else finds it useful: There's a moss block bonemeal system like in the video. Once It has grown a moss carpet/grass/azalea a blade of water dispenses from a dispenser placed above the tree's max height (make sure the water has somewhere to flow to or else it will flow from the sides and break the azalea). An observer detects if whatever has grown has broken. If so it will repeat the aforementioned cycle. Otherwise, it will shift to bonemealing the azalea until a tree has grown. On one side of the azalea is a wall of sticky pistons with oak logs on them which will extend then retract upon the tree growing, pushing the oak logs towards a TNT blast chamber. Then the bonemealing of the moss block continues and the cycle is repeated until the farm is turned off. The main issue that I see with this design is that the water is kind of slow. Perhaps it can be placed on a side rather than above, but the dispenser cannot be placed in that 3x3 area so it would require blocking off one side of the tree's growth and using oak logs as a kind of funnel to get the water to go to the top of the grass/azalea/moss carpet. Anyhow, hopefully, this is of use to someone.

    @d_00 3 года назад

    For the wood farm: simply just collect all the blocks growing on top of moss blocks, sort them out and then dispense/place the azalea which will then be bonemealed. You can also stack this design, for more efficiency.

  • @Pence128
    @Pence128 3 года назад

    1. Put the moss block on sloped rails. If the minecart gets stopped there is either azalea or moss carpet. If the dispenser uses bonemeal it's azalea.
    2. Put an armour stand on the moss block and an upward facing piston. Lift the armour stand, bone meal, then lower it. If the armour stand doesn't fall it's azalea.
    3. Throw an item with a dropper. If it hits an azalea it will fall. Otherwise it will stay on the moss block.

    You could detect this with a comparator, and send a signal when the item does'nt arrive.

  • @jon_franklin

    What if instead of shooting projectiles across, you dropped items on top? Have a hopper minecart below the moss block and detect if the item gets collected. If it does then there's not a full block there, if it doesn't then there should be an Azalea sapling.
    I think you could even make it cycle round so you don't have to refill it. Even if it lands on the sapling, once the sapling grows it should get knocked off and you can have a hopper collection system there.
    Edit: I decided to try this out and unfortunately the moss carpet prevented the minecart hopper from picking up the item. I've been comparing their properties for about an hour now and I swear these things are like the same block. I think Mango's projectile system is probably best or firing an item sideways across the moss block and collecting it. That way you wouldn't have to refill it.

    EDIT: Woo I got it, missed the hidden supply dropper. Great build, thanks mango :D

    hey you can use a piston behind the target block to push out the moss carpet and grass

  • @Marian_DRG

    If you would detect just the growth of a tree by having an observer monitor the moss block, which turns into rooted dirt. This would only waste 1 bone meal for ever grass that is generated. How bad would that be in terms of bonemeal efficiency?

    I could see a moss based Skyblock, maybe with a mod/gamerule to allow grass to spread from moss.

    Perhaps dropping an item on the moss? The azeala would stop the item the grass and moss carpet could let the item fall into a hopper minecart?

    A Simi automatic design would just dispense the azalea bushes than you bonemeal it. Idk when they might make all organic blocks dispensable. Like crops & samplings.

    haven't watched the full video yet, but it appears possible to at least distinguish between azalea and other plants/carpets because they aren't broken if water is placed on top, unlike the others. To determine if it's flowering or not is more challenging, for sure, but I do think it would be impressive to have a water feature in the middle of a very complicated redstone build as a bit of a flex, you know?

    Maybe the minecart system + a water dispenser facing into the upper rail,
    so that the rail gets waterlogged and the minecart floats onto the rail?

    Unfortunately it’s peaceful so you can’t position a skeleton to fire.
    Maybe a snow golem shooting at one of the bastion exclusive piglins or hoglins for the diagonal shooting idea. That and not having to worry about refilling, assuming the target block detects it.
    Feels like it could get bulky, quickly.

    Here's a random idea, can you *also* push the nether wart blocks using the same method into the farm as well? It occurs to me that nether wart blocks can be fed *backwards* into the bonemeal mossblock composters for an 85% chance of leveling the compost.

    I was wondering if you could detect the azalea sapling by trying to shoot an armor stand through from the side using slime blocks.
    If it lands on the other side there is no azalea, if it gets blocked by the azalea it would land on the pushing side.
    Might be difficult to handle the logs this way though

    What if you dispense an item across the moss block and catch it with a hopper. If you catch it then there is no azalea bush. Then you would not need a target block.
