That's Carlos - The Malibu Artist's RUclips channel. His videos are really excellent and I highly recommend them as providing a very different insight into the behaviour of Great Whites - or, at least, that is, juveniles of the species - mere sprats of eight to ten feet , or so. Sadly, it appears that adult White Sharks (16 feet or bigger) have the appetite, hunting skills honed by years of experience, and speed and agility to make the transition from hunting bottom-living rays to seals - and, occasionally (and opportunistically) humans. It does seem probable, however, that contrary to the sensationalist image of G.W.Ss. as portrayed in the 'Jaws' series of films, this species does not habitually regard humans as a primary prey species, preferring, instead, blubber-rich species such as seals. Of course, on this basis, any human 'land whale' clad in a black wetsuit choosing, of their own free will, to go for an invigorating 'dip' in the vicinity of a seal colony would be tantamount to wilful suicide and would unquestionably result in the ensuing Coroner's report on the death as a deservedly justifiable verdict of 'Suicide while the balance of her / his mind was disturbed' !

Frankly, my conclusion regarding Hal's motivation for producing his videos is that it seems almost diametrically opposed to Carlos's in that the former seems to have a particularly morbid fascination for the potential for human disaster associated with sharks in general and White Sharks specifically. My personal view regarding the latter species - for what it's worth (admittedly not much!) - based on my having watched many of Carlos's videos, is that - of course - White Sharks occasionally visit British coastal waters, but the very fact that there have been no recorded attacks on humans by this species since records began proves that they pose no significant threat to humans; if they did, the beaches of Clacton or Blackpool would prove irrisistable temptations for this species. A far-more-plausible 'Apex predator' shark in the context of the seas around Great Britain would be - seemingly implausibly - the Greenland Shark, which is a major predator of seals in Hardangr Fjord, Norway, as well as seal colonies off the coasts of North West and North East U.S.A. Take a look at the British Channel 4 Nature Shock series episode featuring this species of shark - you'll find it on RUclips - to get an idea of just how potentially dangerous to humans this deceptively slow-moving and 'sleepy' this very large shark (eighteen feet +) is. Interestingly, (in a rather sinister way) there have been a number of reports of seal carcases being washed up on the beaches of the N.E. of England bearing strange vertical deep cuts along their flanks which appear to have been inflicted by boat propellors or steel cables. As the Nature Shock documentary on the Greenland Shark proves, this type of wound is characteristic of how this species strips the blubber from a seal with a highly distinctive sawing, bite. Of course, Greenland Sharks lack the menacing presence of a White Shark, and no amount of reconstructive surgery by even the most accomplished surgeon specialising in the field of bodily enhancement could possibly elevate this species' image to the point where it would be able to step into Jaws's tail fin. It's almost tragic when you come to think about it, I mean: life can seem almost unbearably unfair at times!

It's almost tragic when you come to think about it,
I mean: life can seem almost unbearably unfair at times!
@@petergleave7807 Very interesting about the Greenland shark; I’d never even heard of them.
Did the sharks invite you to their home?
Invited ourselves to their menu.
If those sharks are American you had better ensure that you have permission to enter 'their home'.
I mean to say: If you haven't, you could wind up with them shooting you dead in the mistaken belief that you are a burglar!
whoa...
Odd the shark bit him twice, kinda uncommon. Maybe it was two sharks?!
If the first bite doesn't consume you whole, then it will try again
White sharks are lone hunters and there was a satelite tagged shark in the Morro Bay area named Poe Girl, a 17 ft female. Was she the culprit?
One nip is an exploratory nibble, two bites is LUNCH!!!
@@markmailander3880 there's evidence to the contrary, white sharks may sometimes cooperate or, at the very least, target the same prey item. A 15 to 17 ft white isn't unusual, rather upper end of average size for a relatively young female, although sizeable for a male. Even if it were the tagged shark, nothing, could, would or should be done. It's just a risk that ocean users take, and rarely fall foul of 👍
Hope the surfer wasnt on drugs and hurt the animal
16 ft there would be no body left to bring in
That surfer...ya there's sharks...looks around like they are going to be walking on top of the water...lol...
Largest great whites in CA are in Central & No Calif. Morrow Bay is no exception.
Don’t surf alone never in the am or eve be smart observe water before you enter
And not in the afternoon.
Morning noon and night. Got it.
And don’t dress up in a seal costume and go surfing.
What a brave woman to pull an unconscious man who she could barely clearly tell that point had been bitten by a shark to shore
0:48 a day before Christmas
This made it to shark week 2022
I just hope this doesn't start a chain reaction..
Can someone send an invite to the white house to vacation there?
Free surf boards too.
1 for Pelosi and 1 for Harris ...they gonna love it . Can you picture Pelosi on a surfboard ? Biden on a boogie board ?? 😂
Y’all realize humans swim with sharks every single day and are bitten IMPRESSIVELY rarely. safer to swim in relatively shark infested waters than to drive.
No way I’m risking my life for riding a wave
Not the sharks fault at all !!
I surf where salt water crocks live. See them on the beach but never in the surf.
One day ...😳
The size of a small boat! No thanks
But hey.... sharks are safe
Don’t surf or swim in the ocean where there is Elephant seals 🦭 or seals in the area that is just ringing the dinner bell for the sharks 🦈
Sharks hardly ever attack humans! They eat blubbery seals 🦭! But….you have to be careful! The test bites can kill you!
Tag 'em? Nah- bag 'em- all of them. Them, bull sharks, tiger sharks, oceanic white-tips. And the EVER present:"1 in 3 hundred million chance of being bitten by a shark" just effing blows my mind- yeah, tell that to his family, recite that to yourself if you're stupid enough to enter the water where these carnivores are know to frequent right before your femoral artery is severed. That 1 in 3 hundred million thing is like saying:"flying in an airplane is safer than driving your car"- uh, I've heard of lots of people surviving a car crash- zero people surviving a 30,000 foot fall into terra firma or the ocean at over 500 mph.
Dont talk about any stupid statistics! You never know what swims around you! They re constantly searching for food these sea monsters!😅 There s lots of unrecorded fatalities cause often they say the person drowned or was lost at sea etc...😅
It's well known the whole coast of California is great white territory at least 4 horrendous attacks recorded...I would n t go leisurely swimming there no way...😅
Shark bite him twice
*shark infested waters” humans are so dumb bro like that is their home
You should never swim near seals or a food source..easily get confused for a fat seal...
Hope they don't go looking for this shark,
When a shark bite u twice ya ass is in some shark infested Waters fashooooo
That area has a history of great whites being there, infact in 2003 or 2009 a woman was killed by a gw,but her story was wild as shit, God forgive me but the lady was swimming with seals🤦🏿♂️
This reporter's voice is terribly annoying
Solution. Raise and populate the California coast with orcas. They eat seals and sharks but not people.
Why do apex predators come closer and closer to the shores??? Because humans are catching more fish than necessary, and then the predators (like seals) need to hunt my the shores instead- so to BLAME the predators is SO WRONG!!! Think for a second!!!
Common sense is being smart enough to not risk your life for a bit of temporary fun! LOL Surfing is highly overrated. Life risking adventure activities is not my idea of fun! I'm happy to stay on the beach or hang out by the pool. I feel sorry for the guy but he risked his life just for a bit of fun, gambled and lost. I value my life way too much to put myself at risk like this.
:(
we all watch dark shit that scary as hell and then come back to our warped understanding of the world and feel so much better... its only real life ...its safe ...thars not the right take away neither is think the place is a dark mess you should feel very greatful like only you a human being could be prepared for so much danger that shoud be the take away that the only use were even evolved to be intrested in the dark shit that alot of out live through media these days and knowones perfect ... perfect would be taking every fear and in the world and not being afraid of it and not letting it stop you from doing anything but simply care to do thing as needed to mitigate the risk that why knowledge is power
1in 300million? Yeah, just no lol.
1 in 300 million PFFFFFF now i know you have zero credibility
I always cheer for the SHARK....one less Dumbass to worry about....It's the SHARK's home....stand your ground...good job MR. JAWS...
So people can't go anywhere animals live? That's what ur saying? So don't go in the woods don't go in the ocean anywhere an animal resides people are at fault if they go there. U must live one pathetic life. So what happens if a shark gets to close to shore and becomes beached, he's now in our world and according to u he shouldn't be there so we can do whatever we want to him because he's now in our domain. Get a life
@@caitlinkilkenny9433 spoken like a true IDIOT...but I see you're a woman , so I know you are. It's called common sense. Ever heard of THAT ? People have ways of protecting themselves in strange places but against a SHARK ...not so MUCH...hopefully you won't have to find out the hard WAY...but that isn't very likely..
Really? What if it was one of your friends or family members? Pretty lame comment kid.
Believe you me, whenever I'm contemplating the possibility of a 'dip' in the sea, it always gives me 'Jaws for thought'!
1 in 300 million chance of getting attacked by a shark.
Like winning lottery there’s a chance your get bit there why bother swimming with these things when you could be unlucky
And every one of em are justified. Stay out the water or buy a pool
I dont believe that estimate. What are the odds if you go swim in a shark tank at feeding time? The answer to that is more accurate I think. Why calculate the number of people that will step into the ocean for the figure.
Navy diver and I call B.S!
@@mitchroberts6096 thank you for your service sir
was he wearing black a shark thinks you are a seal change wet suit to bright colors never go in area where sharks feeding area is sad but as you see that dude had black on respect the sharks areas sharks are curious not dangerous away from their feeding area it's a fact
